  1. Very classy response... Is this supposed to be humorous? Fair enough....you can argue that the other 3/4’s of Green Bay’s DL were much better than lining up to Jeff Wright or Phil Hansen
  2. I agree....but We aren’t talking about Deacon Jones. It’s Bruce vs. Reggie
  3. I have been pounding my fist on the table for years about Jeff Wright. He was not very good and not the type of NT they needed. I have said that Wright and whoever was playing CB2 (most JD Williams) were the weak links on the team.
  4. It should be noted, I was a teenager when this took place. I admitted that it was not right to judge the situation. But putting that aside, I still feel that Reggie was slightly better
  5. The reason that I’m comparing Bruce and Reggie is because they played in the same era. At one time in the 1990’s, Bruce vs Reggie was a popular debate in the NFL. While Jones might be one of the greatest to the play the position, he doesn’t have the same connection to the two players It’s nice when people set a good example by respecting those who are no longer with us
  6. Beane is famous for saying you don’t draft players in late rounds that you don’t think will make the team
  7. A very interesting pick, but I think he might be a victim of #’s. You know Kroft and Dawson are roster locks. Lee Smith has a 3 year deal so I’m guessing he’s safe too. Then there’s Croom. I don’t know if I can see the Bills keeping 4 TE’s but Sweeney is a good choice for this question Eli is my pick
  8. This is the game where Jim Kelly just killed them. Maybe his worst playoff game. I remember he got knocked out and went into the tunnel. You though he was done but Van Pelt came in and was playing well. Then Jimbo came back injured returned to the game and sealed their loss. More tough than brains Thats like someone saying “Who was better Michael Jordan or LeBron James?” and someone says “Wilt Chamberlain” It’s like “ummmm, ok. But that wasn’t the question - Michael or LeBron? Bruce or Reggie? Come on, man
  9. My bad. I didn’t see that you were responding to the arm wrestling comment. You’ll read another member’s comment who used Reggie’s death as a joke. It’s not me being sensitive. It’s making light out of the death of someone
  10. Get over it...he’s not a choice in this poll
  11. He doesn’t pertain to this question. I didn’t say who was the best ever. I said Bruce or Reggie...
  12. A terribly offensive and disrespectful comment He has nowhere near the numbers that Bruce or Reggie do I dont appreciate using someone’s death as humor
  13. Yeah that’s interesting. He only played in a 3-4 his entire career Ok well like I admitted, basing this on one incident was flawed. But overall, it didn’t change my belief that Reggie was better
  14. He admitted to Tim Graham that some of his tweets were trolling the fans since they treated him so bad. He also said, he was trying to hold the Bills to a higher standard.
  15. Don’t you think Reggie overall had a bigger impact on his team too? It always seemed like he was the heart and soul of the GB defense. Bruce was phenomenal but I don’t remember thinking the same thing about him. Well that’s what was reported. My thinking is that Bruce Smith at 40% health is probably better than whoever was his replacement.
  16. I knew at the time it was a high-risk/high-reward pick. The problem I had with the decision were the circumstances around it. It appeared that Whaley made this move to double-down on EJ (who people had major concerns about at QB). Also it’s been reported that this was Doug’s way of trying to make a big splash to impress new ownership. Both of these factors made me think th Sammy trade was a reckless and poor decision and pointed out some of the well-publicized flaws of Doug Whaley & co in the draft.
  17. For the longest time there has been a debate with my friends about who the greatest Defensive End was during the time we started watching football in the late 80’s and into the 90’s. Back then we thought we had the best DE in the NFL in Bruce Smith. Others considered Reggie White, from Philly, at the time to be the best. Now that we have the benefit of hindsight, the question is...who was really better? Statistically there really isn’t much difference. Reggie played 15 seasons with 198 sacks. Bruce played 17 with 200 sacks. Of course, Bruce is the all-time leader. Both men should be considered toward as the best DE’s ever. I hate to say it, but I’m going to give the edge to Reggie. I think he was a much better leader and impacted the game more than Bruce did. For many years, I would argue in favor Bruce but one game made me change my mind. What sealed the deal for me was in a 1996 playoff game. Bruce had the flu and was questionable to play. This happens quite a bit in the NFL and players usually play through sickness. So I was really shocked when he missed the game. Pittsburgh scored 40 points so the team definitely could’ve used Bruce. I immediately thought of the Thanksgiving game against Dallas where Reggie played with a severely injured arm. He should have missed several weeks but he played through it. Thinking of that made me say “It’s official, Reggie is better.” As an adult, I can see the flawed logic there, but forgetting that incident, it doesn’t change my answer. Bruce was fantastic, but I think Reggie was the greatest of all-time.
  18. I disagree. In the NFL you don’t get 5 years to be simply becoming competitive. It doesn’t work like that. While I do think McDermott will get the entire duration of his contract, I do think that by next season at the latest he should feel some pressure to win.
  19. That was you!?!?!?!? i might have to listen to Locked on Bills
  20. Hes just gotta stay healthy. Talent was always there. By the way Rob Quinn? Grain of salt
  21. Ugh.... those podcasts aren’t my favorites. You should check out Bills Beat or Moranalytics or Tim Graham Podcast. Fun and solid analysis. Much better IMO Not so good, Bob
  22. I love the arm-chair critique over what constitutes a “newsworthy” post and what does not. Give the OP a break
  23. I agree with you and it makes me wonder if there has been overtures that Kelly just wasn’t interested in. Coaching is a grueling job that doesn’t really pay well comparatively. Kelly is set for life, involved in a number of charities and organizations, loves outdoor sports, and has been trying to focus on his family over the past 2 decades. I think he loves the game but I just can’t see him sacrificing all of that just to coach.
  24. Hilarious jabs getting thrown on Twitter today. Vic Carucci wrote an article suggesting Jim Kelly was close to having some sort of an official role with the team (he says its too early to call him Coach Kelly) This prompted Tim Graham who has thrown shade toward Vic on Twitter before, to shoot down the rumors: Coach Sal even got in on it:
