  1. If you listened to the podcast they talked about this. Jackson was considered by some to be as high as a 3rd to 4th round pick. It’s not unlikely that a team wouldn’t sign him off of the practice squad, which again, begs the questions of whether they would want to find ways to use him in other ways that just QB3 You could very well be right. I just know that a lot of scouts that that Jackson would be a mid-to-low round draft pick. So many did see value in him
  2. I can’t believe how judgmental some people are. “You can only start a thread under these conditions...” Come on man.
  3. This was the funniest thing I’ve read for some time!!!!
  4. Despite the snarky comments here, you aren’t alone - Joe Buscaglia and Matt Fairburn discussed the idea of using Jackson in different packages on their podcast last week. Of course, few members here would speak as sarcastically to them as they have in this thread. Its an interesting idea. I don’t think it will happen this year but if Jackson shows well in preseason it might make it has to sneak him on the PS. That would make you wonder whether the Bills would take advantage of his athleticism, rather than waste a roster spot and deactivate him every week Laugh now...
  5. Williams has been good but is far from elite. Ditto for CJ Mosey - a good LB but not what I would consider to be “elite.” Out of the players he mentioned, you can make an argument that Adams is the most elite - though many would hold off until he has a larger body of work. My point was his phrasing of “elite” is a huge exaggeration.
  6. Tell this to Joe Buscaglia and Matt Fairborn. All I’m saying is that the idea of using Jackson in different situations is interesting
  7. No reaction outside of Duffy, shocking. You are oversimplifying the original idea. I thought the idea of the Bills using Jackson in different situations/packages would be interesting. I wonder if a couple of salty Saints fans complain anytime Tayson Hill is mentioned.
  8. You aren’t considering context Hap. Z I disagree that Maybin was worse than EJ, given their positions. Maybin ended up having a very small impact on the Bills overall. They never passed on other DE prospects since he was drafted in 2009. Never overspent on to draft an underperforming WR to prove that he was the real deal. I do hold Whaley responsible for EJ. Everything I have seen on Whaley would indicate that while he technically wasn’t GM at the time, he was waiting in the wings to take over months later and there is little doubt he was on board with the move. This, again, is evidenced by the huge gamble on Watkins the next year. I know a portion of the fan base love Whaley but he’s not innocent here Take a look at the 2009 draft with Eric Wood, Jairus Byrd and Andy Levitre drafted consecutively. Three Pro Bowl talents. Yes Maybin was a flop but those 3 in one draft is better than anything Nix or Whaley ever put together:
  9. what A great moment it was for him to call Ed Oliver before he passed. RIP pancho
  10. Hear for yourself https://twitter.com/JoeBuscaglia/status/1126958523001266177?s=20
  11. If you read the original post, I wasn’t the one who made the comparison. But why let the truth get in the way?
  12. While Tasker certainly isn’t great, I can listen to him. Chris Brown is horrendous and comes off like a robot. He’s not interesting and he simply just regurgitates “safe” thoughts on the Bills.
  13. Wow... such insight. Thanks for your contribution to this thread The argument is that with Anderson on the roster they were highly considering keeping 3 QB’s on the 53 man roster. With him gone, it’s no longer a consideration. It’s not a guarantee that they’ll keep 3 QB’s anymore. Anderson has to prove he’s good enough to warrant a spot on the 53, over another position
  14. I would agree with you on never becoming a starter, which is why it makes you wonder whether it’s worth using him as a Joe webb to take advantage of his athletic ability and size
  15. Thank goodness some of the “massage” places in Niagara Falls, Canada weren’t bugged in the 1980’s. We’ll leave it at that!
  16. Some scouts wondered whether Oliver was better suited to play LB given his smaller size but insane athletic ability
  17. I was listening to The Bills Beat podcast with Joe B and Matt Fairborn who were covering rookie minicamp. The most interesting discussion was on Tyree Jackson. The two said that, despite poor weather (wind) Jackson initially was very inconsistent and sloppy on mechanics. He did seem to settle down a bit eventually but that the camp was a reminder as to why he went undrafted....he has a long way to go. Many believe that Jackson simply moves into the #3 QB spot vacated by Derek Anderson’s retirement. However Joe believes that Tyree has a long way to go to earn a spot on the active roster. He thinks that Anderson’s retirement makes it harder for Jackson, because he now has to beat out Matt Barkley for a spot which likely won’t happen given his experience. Because the question is....will Buffalo even keep 3 QB’s on the active roster? In his first two seasons, McDermott has not done. Most recently the Bills traded AJ McCarron rather than keep 3 active QB’s. In 2017, the Bills did keep 3 QB’s but 1 was Joe Webb who contributed mostly on ST’s and was their emergency QB. This begs the question would it give Tyree a better chance to make the Bills if he took a role similar to Joe Webb? He could play special teams or another position while learning QB behind a good mentor like Matt Barkley and even Josh Allen. You know that the Bills value position flexibility and it makes you wonder whether playing ST’s would be the best move for Jackson until he fully develops as a QB.
  18. EJ is perhaps the worst selection ever by the Bills from the past decade. I’m not just basing this on his NFL career which was less-than-stellar from all accounts. However EJ just did not have the talent to be selected in Round 1. He was a 3rd or 4th round QB projected to be a backup/spot start which is what his career ultimately turned out to be. It was malfeasance by Buddy Nix and Doug Whaley to neglect the QB position as long as they did. It forced them to draft a QB in a class of terrible QB prospects. However rather than waiting to take EJ in Round 3, they make the foolish decision to announce him as a 1st round pick. This led to unrealistic expectations from just about everyone - the Bills, fans, and even EJ himself. He was put in a position he never should have been. By all accounts EJ is a great person but being drafted so high and the unfair expectations put on him took a toll. It was reported he worked with a sports psychologist during his tenure with the Bills.
  19. He probably would plug The Jerry Sullivan Show. Every morning 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Only on Buffalo’s real sports talk...Sports Radio 1270 AM, The Fan!
  20. David Tyree from UB will make the team now!
  21. I know...same here. No offense taken
  22. I have a lot of weed in my garden. I have to pull the weed all of the time. Especially before I mulch. Don’t need to go all the way to Colorado
  23. In the words of a famous man “thanks for the great contribution” Time to complain about a message board thread again. What a time to be alive!!
