  1. there is a number that he is worth right now, and then there is a number he will be worth if he does this for a 2nd straight season. THey should try to get him for something like 35-40 tops. if he says no, see if he can do it again. if he does it again, you can go 45. if he doesn't want that, we were all fooled and he doesn't want to be here.
  2. every team played defense like that today. except maybe us? ton of it going on in the GB TB game for sure
  3. agree about the unsportsmanlike stuff at the end. though i was very okay with feliciano's penalty sticking up for josh when the refs blew an easy call. all of the stuff that came after that was a bit sad.
  4. KC was getting a ton of pressure without blitzing tonight. there just weren't any open men.
  5. yes. ed oliver is a huge problem. a high pick at a position that is having average impact at best.
  6. toughest thing may be that KC is not slowing down anytime soon. our defense needs to be better, but honestly, we need to build an offense that go shot for shot with them. Being able to get pressure on the qb with a 4 man rush would be HUGE though
  7. people who are into coaching will rub shoulders with people who are into coaching and they will find their way in--if they are into teaching and leading. just as bienemy and all the other black coaches did. if you want in, you have to network. it doesn't just happen. there is no wand.
  8. ya this is it right here. old boys network stuff can be used very effectively by people who know what they are doing. if you're too incompetent to put the pieces together, you are going to fail whether you are hiring friends or otherwise. I think Caserio is likely a good hire for the texans, but if McNair won't get out of the way, it won't make a difference.
  9. success in life is largely about networking and connections. There are people who are good and bad at using that tool--on both ends of the equation. But I don't think you can eliminate it. And I'm not really sure you should. people who strive to get to certain places in life should be aware of this and be savvy enough to make those connections. It won't be real or lasting if it doesn't happen organically.
  10. how do you fight nepotism? how do you make a rule against it?
  11. you ask why is there a rooney rule, implying that the reason must be driven by logic. im not going to argue one way or the other. But not all decisions are based on logic and reasoning.
  12. optics/virtue signaling are very high on the list of why things are currently done. logic is sometimes the last thing that dictates cause and effect.
  13. Wait, do we think Bienemy had any interest in this job?
  14. It is said they had an agreement to wait until after this weekend to interview. 2 weeks off before SB would give a little cushion to focus on interviewing for a minute yeah. this is the big thing they are touting in the media. and it makes sense. wentz is a huge investment that has not gone well so far.
  15. Fran is my neighbor. Love him. I'll ask him about this the next time we're out doing yard work at the same time. He and his wife have been to almost every game Nick has coached since starting with the Chiefs. Until COVID-19.
  16. fun fact: Sirianni was wide receivers coach in KC while Daboll was Offensive Coordinator.
  17. it speaks for well for you when people want to take you with them. Even more impressive is when the people who hire you leave, and the next guy keeps you on. Sirianni was first hired by Haley in KC. When he left, Crennel kept him on with the team. Then moved on to SD. WOrked with Reich. Reich left the team, and then pulled out the rolodex to bring him back in the fold when he got his own team. people will cry that he got a job over BIenemy, but he has paid more dues and made more contacts to vouch for him, imo.
  18. I actually forgot about the Colts thing. I think that is more disqualifying than anything. I really think he could have and probably did learn from what happened in Denver. He was ridiculously young at the time. I think you can change stripes at an early age. But the Colts thing was absolutely not good.
  19. yup. i think a guy like McDaniels deserves a second chance. He's put in the time. He is still young. But most of these guys have shown their stripes. This one was interesting because we had been hearing about the Colts D Coordinator with Philly, but I hadn't heard Nick's name mentioned in a couple years. Maybe I just missed it.
  20. His parents are my neighbors. I am so pumped for this! Awesome football family. Great neighbors.
  21. but then it makes zero sense when you realize we just waited 25 years to get a franchise qb.
  22. Houston's problem is that Cal McNair is Ralph Wilson, Al Davis, James Dolan, etc. He needs to fire easterby. Let Caserio run the franchise. and get the hell out of the way.
