  1. you can't put that genie back in the bottle. i think everybody realizes mcD is not a terrorist sympathizer. its just an example of him making bad choices and maybe not understanding people. apology or not.
  2. whatever it was, it's a nothing burger. He probably was just trying to set a theme and building some kind of unity with the linemen. Maybe it didn't work, but he probably meant well enough. I want him fired, but this is just a dumb anecdote to add 150 words to a story, and somehow people get bent out of shape about it, as if McD acts like a corrections officer with his players.
  3. i was at that point for several weeks this year. emotionally checked out, and hardly bothered by terrible games to the bengals and broncos. and then somehow i got sucked back in during the eagles game. that game might have irritated me more than 13 seconds. it was definitely the most charged up ive been since that game, anyway.
  4. Trying to think of something witty to add to this. i guess i'll just say it's my favorite post in thread, outside of the OP.
  5. well, it can account for one of those areas more than the other. It is also probably a huge limiting factor in who we can bring in to play in our offense. And is also the reason it seems to take new guys 2 years to start getting involvement in our offense. If the learning curve is too steep, is it worth it? idk. i guess i leave it to the professionals to make those decisions.
  6. yup, i can remember when we were so bad, i was watching the colts almost every week. their d line wouldn't show anything spectacular all day, but mathis and freeney could get a sack every time they needed it at the end of the 4th qtr. before that, they just got the job done, and of course bob sanders was all over the place. now we do a great job of killing the passer in the first qtr. I don't know. maybe mcdermott is not the problem. maybe we just need to go and get bob sanders.
  7. it sounds like the nfl is actually taking this seriously and he may be banned from the sidelines for the rest of the seaon.
  8. i don't know. tom brady looked like he was "Just efficient" in a really good system. THen he got some weapons and became the GOAT around the age of 30.
  9. First star honors to Nick Folk
  10. nah. weather is not that bad. they will get it in
  11. The Steelers are not wasting a generational talent with Mike Tomlin. If we were doing what we are doing now with Tyrod Taylor, Geno Smith or Mitch Trubisky, there would not be any complaining.
  12. As has been mentioned, offensive coaches are the best way to super bowl success in today's nfl. Even when Bill B. was winning in NE, even when Brady didn't have as many weapons as he deserved, it was because Bill was the BEST defensive coach in the nfl. if you are going to be a defensive head, you better the best, or near it. Not just GOOD at it.
  13. the reason we have been so strong is of course because we have a generational talent at qb. this is what the people in charge need to realize. we need to do everything in our power to set him up for success. I just don't think McD is that guy, and I think most others are on that same page. He is a *good* coach...not great. Though he will make some other franchise very happy, he just isn't right for what we have.
  14. You absolutely can blame some of the interceptions on coaching. Better coaching = less bad decisions. A coach's job is to communicate to the players what they should be looking for. Obviously coaching can't eliminate all mistakes, but there are definitely established patterns that can be positively or negatively affected by coaching.
  15. There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damn lies, and statistics!! Great post from OP
  16. mistakes are always gonna be made, but when you gain an identity for specific kinds of mistakes over a period of time, that is on the coaching. Brady is new, so it's not really on him, but it is his job to clean it up. by either teaching them how to do it right, or getting rid of it if they can't figure it out. there is another angle as well. It was often talked about how much time Peyton Manning spent time with his receivers making sure they knew what they were supposed to do and how to do it. not sure if that was all overblown, or if that was something he went above and beyond with to separate himself from the 3rd, 4th, 5th best qbs in the league, etc.
  17. he just wants to win. feels very team oriented and positive, even in a game where he did very little on the stats sheet.
  18. you can have the best plays in the world, but you have to prepare guys to execute them through the week. coaches are teachers. if the players can't execute what you are giving them, the problem ultimately lies with you.
  19. i think we all think this in our hearts, but we are tempering expectations.
  20. MIlano is a stud. i was thinking he was from the previous regime
  21. yes. or maybe oliver. but it's those 3
  22. HE is saying that Davis was fantastic in the role of 3rd WR
  23. that int looked so bad, but I always admit I don't fully grasp what im watching. would love to see some sort of drawing breakdown that shows what harty did and where he threw the ball, versus where harty should have been and where the ball should have been. watching on tv, it just looks like the dumbest choice possibly imaginable.
  24. i think there is a good chance he does get fired. Canning Dorsey RIGHT NOW gives McD a chance to win or lose his job. Everything will have his stamp of approval from here to January.
