  1. It is like winning the lotto. Avoid the known or elite talent because you think you know the ceiling. But find the diamond in the rough and hit the goldmine. Yes this can happen. Its just higher risk and higher reward. And its funny that people say "well if Allen was the #1 recruit in the nation and playing at Alabama he would have been the obvious #1 pick"/ Well duh...
  2. Tyrod, until proven otherwise is still a better QB than Allen, AJM and Peterman. Wear all hoping for an improvement at the position but its not like he was replaced by a known quantity.
  3. You can call it untapped talent. You can call it more unknowns. You can call it higher ceiling. You can call it high risk. Saying because he has never been "elite" so never received proper coaching, extensive looks, high competition etc is an abnormality not a positive. Sometimes there is a reason a guy plays at the top HS, then goes to all the elite camps, then is recruited as the #1 player in the nation etc. Because they have obvious talent. A guy like Allen can either not have the obvious talent, have some flaws that scare people off or who knows what. But it generally should not be viewed as a positive. That is just convincing yourself.
  4. People give McD too much credit. He is a football guy. He is somewhat young and never run the entire organization. I think he focuses on football and the front office stuff is not his area.
  5. Hard to see Allen starting for some time. Anything can happen but remember at every level he has played at smaller schools, lower level comp). Small town HS. Then small JUCO. Then WYO. This will be a big adjustment.
  6. Like one man said "I want Winners". I agree with that. I dont think its a ll or nothing argument. But I do think it is telling about a guy especially a QB. It means something to know how to win, be used to winning, to hate losing. Allen by all accounts has been on mediocre teams in JC and College. Even in High School he did not dominate. Especially telling was in his Sr year the best team they played beat them twice. Both times he was awful. Like less than 100yd awful. He has thus far always been bad against good competition.
  7. Time for the classic - then dont read about it or post back. You dont have to be interested in discussing it but obviously some people do. Just like if there was a post on Colton Schmidt and his off season work outs I could care less. So I dont read and dont reply. Move on to something you are interested in.
  8. Wentz won two championships in college didnt he?
  9. Newton was a top recruit in the nation. Allen not so much. Newton went 14-0 and was a beast in the best conference in football. Allen was mediocre in one of the worst.
  10. Star - Star Tolbert - Tolbert Benjamin - Benjamin On and on
  11. What is hugely missing is the level of competition. Who and where they played. They played on and against the best teams in the county. They did not play at a JC and have those numbers. They won at a high level. Huge difference.
  12. Pass rush, LB and CB depth still a concern.
  13. These guys likely are not on the roster...
  14. Says who? He showed this when?
  15. College vs the Pros. The NFL has so much more speed you cant just out run people to the outside.
  16. He has 2-3 of these games in his ~50 starts but ok...
  17. I could care less about the name and more about the position. Is a CB and S the biggest needs at this point?
  18. Seriously? Do they just have this thing on auto draft?
  19. At 154 and 166 would love it
  20. One of them will be there: OL Crosby Bozeman WR Burnett ESB Cain Lasley
