Any deep prospects you guys hope the bills go after?
DCOrange replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quoting my own post on a similar thread...I'd also add Dorian O'Daniel and Genard Avery as LBs that I'd be interested in. Not necessarily the best post-first round guys, but some of the guys that I like to watch: QBs: Kyle Lauletta: Luis Perez: RBs: Nyheim Hines: Ronald Jones: Martez Carter: WRs: Trey Quinn: J'Mon Moore: -
The rumors at Louisville were that he ran in the low 4.3's...I'd be really surprised if he were actually that fast. And I'd guess he didn't want to waste time preparing for a 40 yard dash when he knows he needs to prove doubters wrong about his passing ability.

Sal C: Broncos Love Mason Rudolph

Certainly a possibility! -
Sal C: Broncos Love Mason Rudolph

If we assumed that this report is correct, I would imagine that Denver trades up from their 2nd round pick to take him rather than trading down from 5 to take him. They could theoretically take Nelson or Barkley at 5 and then get Rudolph at the back end of the 1st round. I don't think either of those things are particularly true. His accuracy is pretty spotty and he's generally slow in diagnosing coverage. Edit: I wouldn't say he's inaccurate, but I also wouldn't consider accuracy to be a strength of his. The only real strengths I would say for him is that he's tall and he does a really nice job of sliding around the pocket. -
I love Lamar and have him as my #1 QB, but he was kinda all over the place at the Combine, and his bad throws were probably worse than anyone else's. One of his deep balls was literally like 15 yards short of its target.

Should be noted that Tony Pauline reported that the Bills sent their QB coach and one assistant to go see Falk...have we sent more than just a scout to any other pro day that I missed or is this the first one?

Shefty predicts OBJ will be traded for a 1 and 3 or 4
DCOrange replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No idea what Buffalo will do, but I don't think I'd give up anything more than a Day 3 pick for Beckham honestly. I just have no interest in the type of contract he's seeking at all. I'd be willing to trade a Day 3 pick to have him on an expiring deal but that's probably it. -
Mel Kiper's Nightmare Mock 3.0
DCOrange replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think an underrated angle for the Bills that people don't seem to mention much is the idea that they'll move up from #22 rather than from #12. If for example, 4 QBs go in the top 5, Buffalo can take their star LB at #12 and then make a much smaller and cheaper move up from #22 to get Lamar if they so desire. All of the trade chips that Buffalo has accumulated doesn't necessarily need to be in order to move up from #12. -

I'd love to have Edmunds but I don't foresee Alexander being a 1st round pick, nor do I envision him being a guy that Buffalo would target. Tremaine Edmunds and Jaire Alexander -
Le’Veon Bell - worth $17 mill/yr?
DCOrange replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about $17 million, but Bell might be the only RB in the NFL where I'd argue that having him is better than having a good, cheap committee. -
Lance is the guy that writes every single scouting report for NFL.com's draft prospect pages.
-
The guy that was a late 3rd round pick in a terrible QB class? I don't really recall many outside of Texas fanboys thinking he had any shot at a HOF career; I'm pretty sure he was generally regarded as a low-ceiling guy.
-
Just playing devil's advocate because I think you're probably right, but there were reports coming out of the Senior Bowl that teams thought Mayfield came across as entitled and that Allen wanted it more than him
-
That's what we've always believed, but the numbers suggest otherwise. There's nearly zero correlation between running effectiveness and play-action success or between running volume and play-action success.
-
You're misunderstanding it. 1. Running the ball has no impact on play-action passing. 2. Play-action passing > regular passing and with it being used only 20% of the time, it is underutilized.
-
Football Outsiders published an article that came across my twitter timeline today. It basically suggests that a team's ability to run the ball has no impact on its success in play-action. It also suggests that play-action passing is super underutilized and points out that teams like Jacksonville and Philly ran it twice as often as the rest of the league during their playoff games against Pittsburgh and New England and obviously it worked out pretty amazingly for them. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2018/rushing-success-and-play-action-passing

I'm taking the same stance as Kirby. I can't say for sure that this is his reasoning, but I foresee a tumble back down to Earth for the Bills next season and a pick around the 8-12 range. I'm not really interested in giving that up, especially because I think the QB that Buffalo can get at #12 is better than the ones that would be taken in a trade-up.

McDermott: NFL is a “drop-back league”
DCOrange replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team went 17 years without making the playoffs. Why are we suddenly in a rush to try to be a fringe playoff team? In all likelihood, this team is going to be pretty bad regardless of who the QB is next season; if the Bills believe that Lamar can become a great QB, waiting one more season to unleash him really isn't that big of a deal. -
McDermott: NFL is a “drop-back league”
DCOrange replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you take "drop-back" to mean from under-center, which it seems like you are, none of this year's QB crop are particularly experienced there. Rosen and Allen probably took snaps under-center more than anyone else, and even with them, we're talking roughly 20% of their snaps. But McDermott didn't even really say anything. He basically said it's a passing league (which is a fact) and that the ability to throw is important (which nobody would ever disagree with). And he didn't even say that it's the most important or that it's a priority or anything; he just said it's important. -

The thing is that you can apply any of these statements to any of the QBs you want and pretend that they're describing your guy. All of the QBs in this draft are capable of dropping back and throwing; and saying that the ability to do so is important is something that literally every coach, scout, and fan would agree with. -
Matt Miller's latest Mock makes sense
DCOrange replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You’re not even including #96, which Miller also includes in the trade to get to #6. This is a no-go for me personally. I don’t really want to trade for Rosen anyways, but even beyond that, this trade is a little rich for my blood personally. -
And this guy isn't even in the 2018 draft, but I doubt he'll be a 1st rounder next year but he's stuck out to me on film every time I watch Chase Litton:

Peter King MMQB: McDermott, Taylor, Benjamin catch, Jim Kelly...
DCOrange replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The bolded would have been ruled an incomplete pass in the past due to "not completing the process of going to the ground"
