McD failed in hiring Dorsey and our special teams coach has already cost us two games (Jets and Denver) and almost cost us the New England game by electing to gamble a chance at maybe getting 5 yards on the kickoff tackle vs the risk of having a kickoff return for a TD which almost cost us our season. Sean cannot afford to fail again with the OC for next year, and it's very likely NOT going to be the guy who happened to be the QB coach when McD's original choice failed. They need to do an exhaustive search and interview a dozen top OC candidates regardless of what happens in the offseason. In fairness Josh and Joe, our best two options right now in terms of Go To guys are Kincaid and Shakir, a 2nd year guy and a rookie with about 100 targets total between them. Diggs and Knox are in massive slumps, our two highest paid targets by a lot. I can't help but think Beane is kicking himself for not pulling the trigger on DHop. Next year is going to look different for sure.

personally i wish they would dump half of these types of penalties that involve gray areas that are sometimes called and sometimes not. Too many rules these poor officials are trying to judge holding and pass interference, illlegal hits in real time, player intent etc. If I ran the league here's what I would do: Get rid of illegal man downfield rules, get rid of the cheat forward penalty (just limit player to having to be 5 yards within LOS so they dont get a massive headstart), the offensive linemen cant move at all like the old days (no more of this pointing and head turning crap), get rid of the Tush push for the same reason you cant climb on a teammates back to block a kick- and also it's going to end a qb's career sooner than later. Outside of the rules changes, I would quit stopping the game to announce to everyone a penalty that is clearly being declined. Pick up the flag, motion to the head coach what the call is and if they decline it, the clock starts and we go on with the game. Nobody cares about a penalty that isn't affecting the game, lets get more flow into the game. Lastly, now that you asked (haha) has anyone noticed they use a more orange-ish looking ball for kicks and the mud brown ones for normal play? The contrasting lighter color is way easier to see than the dark ball, so at the very least use those balls for regular play. Its bad enough we got rid of the college white stripe and use a ball that is THE most difficult color to see, the least they can do is lighten it up. We're all staring at the thing after all. The ball really should be even lighter for these networks who are too dumb to film the FG kicks from the stands with the green field as contrast. I mean sometimes games (and the entire season maybe) comes down to a final kick and you can barely tell if its between the uprights because the ball disappears against the crowd so you literally have to look at the refs to see what happened. That's a huge fail. Brighter footballs please. Duh.

Dallas D got rolled by Seattle last week, I expect the same in Buffalo. -
Toney saved us from another Billsy moment…

Bills would have been down 4 with 1:12 and three timeouts. That's enough to run an 8 play drive. Not impossible for Josh at all. -
I think they tried that four or five times yesterday. The verdict is in on that play, it has proven itself to be unproductive. The cowboys will be ready for that play which reeks of pick 6 if you know it's coming. We need a legit OC so badly. Approaching the end of the half Josh was on the field with his hands over his ears waiting for a play call from upstairs yelling "what are we doing? Give me something!" Sorry Josh, we should have given you Dhop, and an innovative OC. You got Trent Sherfield and Joe Brady.

Seems like its either that or he all out blitzes like he chose to do against Russel Wilson that cost us the game on that floater he threw to Jeudy that got the P.I. call on Taron. If he just rushed four and played our normal defense we probably win both the Eagles and Broncos games not to mention the 13 seconds game. McD just got an extended contract, he isn't getting fired. His strength is leadership and creating a strong team brotherhood, but he needs support for his game coaching, he falls short there and it's been proven time and time again. Help the guy, don't fire the guy. Get the quality control/game managers in the booth to call the time outs, manage the plays/clock and end of half end of game strategies. He wasn't good at that BEFORE he had to call a defensive play every down, so instead of giving him less to think about we actually put more on his plate. We pride ourselves on developing and supporting our players, lets do it for McD.

How Good is Josh Allen Really?
Da webster guy replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not only is he elite, he and Lamar are the most fun QB's in the world to watch. I think Josh is averaging 30 a game for three years rolling now. I can't imagine us having anyone else, and I'd take him over any QB in the league in a second. -
I still think bringing him back for the Jacksonville game cost us a very important roster spot that hurt us pretty badly. He hasn't impacted anything, lets face it, he's very old for that position. He was drafted with AJ Green, JJ Watt, Dareus, Julio Jones, Aaron Williams etc I don't think anyone from that draft class is still competing at a high level and Von is no exception. Beaner went all in to get a superbowl and squeeze one last season out of Von but the guy just has too many miles on him. Can still be a great leader, motivator, and maybe get home on a few 3rd down rushes this year but I don't expect much production

Friends the Oline has arrived…

Yup Key to NFL wins= control the trenches, have a good qb. Cannot go far without both of those things. -
you forgot my son Leodis Sincerely Mrs McKelvin

i like all announcers that are bills fans. loved kelso and murph, Van (duh), and Brownie has great enthusiasm and knows the team better than anyone so he's good for me too. Eric Wood is awesome in broadcast and mondays on WGR. now i need to figure out how to synch the radio with the tv so i can listen to these guys instead of the TV weenies

I think we were one McD/Frasier 13 seconds blunder away from winning it all two years ago with basically the same squad. You're forgetting Milano/Poyer/Hyde who are all elite players at their positions, and maybe Tre too. These guys are All Pro level when 100% WR's don't win championships, it's QB's and to a lesser extent coaching/gameplanning.

Josh Allen: Assistant Offensive Coordinator?
Da webster guy replied to BigAl2526's topic in The Stadium Wall
You mean the rookie OC whose offense scored the second most ppg in the league last year? Yeah he's no good. -
You don't have to defend yourself to anyone, this is a great thread idea. I will probably lurk and not offer too much but I have a friend who digs into college as deep as anyone and has had some very big years. One thing I've heard from the ultra experienced gamblers is that if you want to bet on the favorite you should bet early. Line movement can be erratic, but generally, favorites are more popular with the public, and so the line tends to move against them after the betting line is opened. This new world of legalized online betting has created a ton of casual bettors who generally don’t consider odds or the point spread too strongly. They simply bet on the favorite as soon as the line is released. Over time, the line tends to move against the favorite, making them a less attractive bet. Conversely, if you like the road underdog it is often worth waiting a few days after the line is released. Generally, the public bets on favorites which leads to line movement in favor of the underdog. One more technique to use if you know which side you like (Bills): decide on a price that works for you and wait to see if the line moves onto your price. If it doesn’t, don’t bet. Here's another thought: Opening line in the morning: Bills – 6 (-110) Fins+6 (-110) Line in the evening: Bills-9 (-110) Fins +9 (-110) This line movement indicates that a lot of money has been placed on the Bills in a short space of time. Although movement does tend to go against the favorite, it is often quite gradual. A big jump like this suggests that the smartest bettors with the most money (or sharps) think that the original line offered by the sportsbook was very good value. If you spot a situation like this, a good move will be to quickly check other sportsbooks to see if the Bills are available anywhere else at -6. Since sportsbooks react to the bets they receive themselves (as opposed to bets received by other sportsbooks) lines move at different speeds in different books. We've seen some pretty big discrepancies just between draft kings, caesars, fan duel etc Dramatic movement over a short period of time indicates big money from clued-in bettors. Gradual movement in one direction indicates public perception and of course sometimes line movement is orchestrated by sportsbooks to entice people to bet on a specific side of the bet because they're too heavily imbalanced. Last thought: If you and someone you trust completely disagree on a bet but are both going to bet it anyway, leave the sportsbooks out of it and just bet each other then whip out the venmo at the end of the game and square up. No sense letting the fat cats take 10% for doing nothing. Also if you don't think Damar Hamlin isn't winning comeback player of the year you're insane. The dude was clinically dead and a year later he's out there hammering ball carriers. Sure Tua had a concussion or two, but for god's sake man our boy came back from the afterlife to win back his starting job. Bet your grandma's pension on that one and take her to Hawaii when you cash out......

Agreed. Roger is definitely a weenie and more of a lawyer pawn than an innovative leader but we're stuck with this guy for awhile longer so might as well embrace it.

Don't think "WR2" in the upcoming draft. Think WR1.
Da webster guy replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Top 5 NFL offense averaging over 30pts a week for 3 years now. Laid a 10 pt egg at home vs Bengals, is everyone now saying that the primary reason was our receivers weren't skilled enough to get separation? Because from my perspective our guards and tackles were the ones who weren't skilled enough to stop the Bengals average Dline in pass pro AND run game, and our Dline sorely missed DaQuon and an impactful edge rusher. That and our QB had some issues seeing the underneath stuff. Our receivers are just as good as either team that played in the Superbowl. They each had one stud in Kelce and AJ but that's about it. The Bengals have the best trio of pass catchers in the league and they got held to 20 by a mediocre KC defense because they couldn't win the trench battle. Its all about the big boy play. Keep adding to the trenches, get big nasty agile athletes in there. The fact that we've been doing that with limited success in recent years is all the more reason to keep at it until we get it right. -
Who's our slot WR in 2023, Shakir or...?
Da webster guy replied to Nephilim17's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I've said this before but the two guys that had the best training camp as pass catchers were Crowder and Morris at TE/Hback. Crowder was limited with that injury but when he was cleared to practice the dude looked like the #1 WR that he was in the past. Honestly Morris with another year can be a huge weapon too if you notice he can fly and catch. I think a lot of the concern about targets isn't that we need another guy, we just need our guys to be healthy and ready to go, and we need Dorsey to get real serious with Josh in the offseason and study the film which will help Josh look to other guys like Shakir, Cook (our only big play YAC guy who never gets thrown to for some reason) etc. We score an average of 30 points a game for 3 years now, and even though we sucked vs Cinci with a lame 10pt effort, I don't think the film will show it was from WR's not getting separation. It's going to be trench players AGAIN being the weak link on both sides of the ball, and a rookie OC who probably was in over his head trying to live up to Daboll's gamecalling success. -
I agree but I would ride with Dorsey another year. We scored second highest points in the NFL, he was a rookie coach, give him 1 offseason and year 2 to upgrade his system.

Its just like stock pickers or gamblers: in reality you have no clue, but you think you do because in many cases in the past you've been correct, which emboldens you to think you know better. A lot of those chumps were saying how Brady in playoff mode is gonna crush Dallas and how the Chargers were gonna whip the Jags. No clue. just flippin coins.

How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Da webster guy replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
And our Oline was opening holes. Thats always the first thing I watch early on, how are we handling them upfront, because it usually tells you who has the better chance. If Cook/Motor are slashing them for 7 yds a carry it generally means we're enroute to a 35 point game, which is good because they'll score a bunch on us too. Vegas spread is 5 pts, seems a little generous to me but overall I'm glad we finally face off again to settle the score. In other news, our home crowd needs a tune up. Tons of people making zero noise when Fins were snapping the ball but then being loud after we score. Cmon people lets not act like Miami fans.
