  1. Morris had a handful of highlight catches in training camp just like his grab today. I was praying they wld let Howard walk and keep #85 and it looks like they made the right call. Not sure how he grades out as a blocker but separation and hands he is very solid.
  2. good point. On another note its been interesting to see how Von plays, he has far better gap control than a lot of the edge guys in the league. It sometimes looks like he's taking a play off but on the rewatch he's sealing off the backside of the play and sliding it towards the heart of the defense. Very cool to watch this guy operate, and lead what has become an elite front 7.
  3. The general approach is to watch the body of the player being held and how they're impacted by it. Its clear that there is a clutch and grab element to most blocks nowadays, usually shoulder pads/jersey being where the offender holds. That usually gets ignored unless it results in turning, twisting or slowing down a player significantly. It seemed to me that The Ravens strategy on the offensive line yesterday was to hold everyone until they start flagging it, which took the refs almost a quarter to do.
  4. My son and I are going to the game in Miami, wondering what the BillsMafia does pre or post game down there. Is there any kind of tailgate scene? Do Bills backers have a preferred lot?
  5. And that there is no Easter Bunny, which I'm really not still coming to grips with fully almost 5 decades later.
  6. I watched red zone straight for 6 hours today. The greatest part of it all is ZERO advertising. You really don't have any idea how much time you spend looking at ads and waiting for replays, time outs, delays etc until you hit the redzone and its all the stuff you want to see and none of the crap you don't. I would actually rather have redzone than the sunday ticket simply for that reason. You can get into the flow of the games, they split the screens when necessary (even three screens in one a few times today). There is just no bs, its all football. No stupid insurance ads, car commercials, cell phone carriers blah blah blah. Obviously can't be on the main TV for Biils games, but get a side TV and switch the volumes out when the Bills go to a commercial, you'll love it. As far as the 4 oclock games go, there are only 3 or 4 of them going so the redzone gives you a heavy dose of them all. Its a little more spread out with the 8 or so 1 oclock games but they still do a great job with it.
  7. Theyre legit but they're another ticketmaster owned ripoff artist. Ticketmaster sells a 150 seat and gets 35 in fees for the original sale, then the tickets get resold through vivid seats or ticketmaster themselves and they tack on ANOTHER 35 for the second sale because, you know, they're "verified resale tickets" and god forbid you buy them using paypal and have someone electronically transfer tickets to you. So at this point the Bills have made 115 from the original sale and ticketmaster has made 70 on the same ticket. But ticketmaster isn't done yet, now they tell you that you have to download their app and give them all your information, cell phone, location, credit card etc because you just can't get in anywhere without some random scanning arcode BS which isn't actually true at all (screenshots DO work, you don't even have to have them in an Ewallet) and they sell your data to third party companies and get massive profits from that as well. This company has been doing this price gouging for so long it's pathetic. But they have exclusive contracts in place and pay the venues upfront so it's hard to part with them. A middleman should take a modest service fee, they just laugh in your face and say haha you have to pay this because we have the contracts and you don't. Total parasites and a zero value add. I hope when Mark Cuban is done cleaning up the immoral and unethical generic pharma industry he sets his sights on ticketmaster and buries those Aholes, so the next time some poor working class guy wants to take his family to see a football game he doesn't have to pay these scammers $200 just for the right to go see a game. The future will be peer to peer verified, blockchain style purchasing, and all the credit card, convenience fees and ticketmaster absurd surcharging goes away. Owners make more, fans pay less, everyone wins.
  8. I heard a comment on MNF tonite that Pete Carrol was talking about a late round rookie CB who was starting for them as well, and ol slippery Pete said 'we'd have been happy if he was our first round pick the way he has been playing'. I thought of Benford right away. As much as I am still upset with Frasier and McD for grossly mismanaging the 13 seconds which I'm convinced cost us a superbowl title, it's nice to know those guys have the ability to recognize pure talent and put a late round kid from a small program out there under the bright lights on opening day and starting him ahead of our 1st rounder (although they both played about the same amount, it was still a start vs the superbowl champs) With the exception of Cody Ford I think our coaches truly don't care when a person was drafted, even if they are a walk on, they just want character, work ethic and results. Reminds me of almost 20 years ago when we signed a pair of undrafted roommates from Tennessee Jabari Greer and Rashad Baker and they both ended up being solid contributors to a very good defensive backfield for the Bills.
  9. The key to consistently good defense is being disruptive and pressuring the QB with four dudes, as evidenced by our zero blitz evening on Thursday. Keeping Tremaine in the middle and flying around is the best way to use him. We have guys that are better equipped to rush.
  10. This is exactly right. Eric Wood was talking about that too. Very few if any designed runs, they were options based on what Josh decides from the coverage he sees. I agree though, a high priority needs to be placed on an offense that offers the lowest risk of injury for 17. Especially with a 3 possession lead. Daboll called a designed Josh run up 21pts vs the Jets last year and he got hit so hard. Stupid risk, stuff like that should never happen again.
  11. stream the 550 on audacy through your phone after the game its all ya need
  12. yeah superbowl champs at home arent a good team. Got it. enjoy the win dude
  13. 75% 'absolutely horrified' thats a huge exaggeration. I was hoping they would take Rosen but it didnt take long to see that Allen was the right choice. But that was FOUR years ago dude. I agree with the general sentiment of this thread, Collinsworth acts like Josh is just turning the corner into eliteness and its been years now.
  14. I bet once this year and it was on the Caesars Palace app and they had this sucker promo Clemson win by 14 AND Ohtani hits a homer that same night for a +375 payout. I decided to go for it and told everyone if it hits we are havin Lobster tails at halftime of the Bills game. Sure enough, Clemson easily covers the 14 and Ohtani hits TWO dingers that night. So its tails at the Farrell house for halftime. 12 people.
  15. Taylor and Henry abuse everyone. Overall we did OK against the run last year, the focus is on stopping the strong passing teams by getting more pressures, hurries, disruptions, sacks. When you have a team that scores 30 points a week, it usually forces other teams to have to pass in order to win. I also liked DaQuan Jones he is one strong mfer in there. Bullrush and motor, keeps his head low and seemed really effective in camp, so he should help to keep Settle fresh.
  16. getting any kind of pick for Cody Ford was a win. Araiza was a bad gamble but not many 6th round picks make the team anyway. I respect them for making the right decision despite no criminal charges being filed in a 9 month investigation, it seems like they felt he was guilty of lying to the team in saying that he did nothing wrong. OJ Howard, now THAT was a real blunder. I guess they saw enough tape on him last year to give the dude a shot at redemption, he sure looks the part and was dominant in college, but the stone hands and the mediocre play just wasn't enough and Beaner couldn't rig a trade because the rest of the league seemingly felt his contract was way too much. and they'd be right.
  17. Yeah the glitzy 360 video screen stuff like Jets, raiders, rams is way too in-your-face for me. I hope they keep that to a min
  18. Yeah I dont get that either. Its not like it was necessary to release Haack anyway because of a roster deadline. We will get another punter, there are tons of em.
  19. At training camp this year it really hit me how much Josh deals with off the field in terms of pressure from fans. Not to perform, just for autographs and PR stuff. The practice session concludes, the other players all head to the locker room, and two hundred kids pile down the bleachers and stand there with their stuff for him to sign. Some of the other players like Knox are trying to sign stuff and help him out, but it's pretty obvious that everyone is waiting for 17. Josh his GF and Tanner Gentry and his GF are trying to have a conversation on the empty practice field and there is so much screaming "Josh Josh hey Josh!" He is acknowledging and being polite but the poor guy is just trying to have a 10 minute convo (Jim Kelly was there with them for awhile as well) and you can tell he feels pulled by all the kids but they're trying to talk something over and he's kinda torn, keeps waving over. Then when he finally starts heading to the sidelines it's virtually impossible for him to sign even a quarter of the stuff being waved at him. Kids in wheelchairs that he doesn't even see, just mass hysteria. He handles it really well as you would expect him to, puts in a hard 15-20 minutes, smiling, winking, high fiving, grabbing peoples phones and taking selfies, then he really has no choice but to walk away and disappoint most of the crowd. I'm sure he's used to it, and compared to most athletes we all know Josh is a giving superstar with his time and effort to connect with the fans, but I've never really witnesses THAT much adulation and pressure in an off the field situation for an athlete before. Like no matter how much you give there are always more kids and fans that you skipped over. It struck me that his guy may be the best football player in the world right now, and the extra attention that comes along with it is pretty insane.
  20. You're forgetting Crowder, he is a lock. Kumerow is too for special teams and way more experience than Hodge/Shakir. If you guys went to any of the last 5 camp sessions then you saw Crowder ball out. He's gonna be Mr 3rd down from the slot this year. Unless we keep 7 WR, Hodge goes to PS.
  21. For the training camp sessions I saw, Crowder stood out. Caught everything, great separation and very fast upfield for good YAC. Gotta remember he was rehabbing for most of camp. The Colts drop was unfortunate but I think he will be an impact guy this year for us on 3rd downs.
  22. I think Keenum could get picked up off the PS if we put him there, and Barkley won't. We want them both in the QB room so I'm guessing you will see Keenum on the 53 and Barkley PS. There are a lot of snaps in the preseason ahead of us, so that might change, but I doubt it.
  23. My son unexpectedly came home, we are hoping to get a pair of tix to see training camp tmrw or thrs Aug 10th Will throw you a few bucks for em! thanks. Kevin Farrell 585-734-1255
  24. BB is a really good DEFENSIVE coach and overall game coach, but I dont think he's a good leader, motivator, team builder or offensive coach. The word you hear a lot from ex players is 'unrelatable' which is a nice way of saying the dude's a weenie. Dimes are perfect throws, he put too much air under that ball. insane pick tho. knifed in between two speedy NFL guys while they were going full tilt and somehow barely touched either dude. An all time highlight and massive game changer/tone setter for that game.
  25. There are many who strongly disagree with you, they feel that everyone should stand as a sign of respect to the flag. Kap used to sit on the bench for the anthem, then he switched to the kneeling which I think was a better move. I have interest in his tryout for the NFL because I felt the narrative that Kap was some elite player that got his career ended short because he chose to protest is simply not true. The majority of non-football fans believe the guy sacrificed his career for some greater good, when the reality is the guy was a backup QB on his way out of football. Then he took a huge check from Nike and they ran ads that said Believe in Something, Even if it Means Sacrificing Everything, and the lie got pushed even further. At that point, I felt there was no chance this guy would ever try to make another NFL roster because it will reveal that he's simply not very good, and he didn't really sacrifice ANYTHING. In fact, he likely made more money from the kneeling that he would have if he tried to stay in the league and hold a clipboard for a few more years. Nike should run a new Kaep ad that says Believe in Something, Especially if it Makes you Rich..... I really respect the guy for actually trying to play again, even though we all know what the result was going to be.
