  1. Does the Athletic not grade punters ? Haack deserved a straight F and didn't even make their bottom 5. Even if you want to curve his grade based on the conditions he still deserved a bottom 5 grade.
  2. Winter Soldier is a much better nickname for him than Angel of Death. Although it would be pretty funny if the stadium started playing some Slayer every time Josh has a big play.
  3. I saw some people on Reddit throwing around the "elite holder" comment and I have to flat out disagree. The baseline expectation for a place holder is to make it through the year with no fumbled snaps or issues facing the laces. That's AVERAGE. There's no such thing as an "elite" place holder. I think the issue is we went from Bojorquez, by far the worst holder in the league, to Haack. People only think Haack is elite at holding because Bojo was so terrible at it. 700k deadcap if we cut Haack after this season. I'd be surprised if we don't have a different punter come week 1 2022.
  4. If Ross were in the building every day, talking to his head coach on a face-to-face basis repeatedly, he’d be in a much better position to assess where and how and when blame should be placed and changes should be made. the next Dan Snyder being accused of being too hands on and interfering with the football people making football decisions.
  5. Daboll has the bad habit of calling way too many passing plays in high winds, and abandoning the run when it's actually working. We had 20 straight passing plays (18 pass attempts, 2 JA scrambles)! In a game where the wind was having an obvious effect on QBs and punters. Very reminiscent of the Ravens playoff game.
  6. Dolphins have gone 19-14 over the last 2 seasons with a combination of Fitz/Tua/Brisket at QB. I think Flores had them overperform their talent level and I'm surprised they fired him.
  7. I'd rather go after UFA Chris Godwin than try to trade for Calvin Ridley.
  8. 0% interest from me. Singletary is fine as our RB1. Obviously we are a pass first team but he can produce when given the ball. Still 1 more year left on his rookie contract. Moss has struggled this year but does have 2 years left on his rookie contract. If we're ready to give up on Moss as RB2 we should just spend another mid round pick on a new RB. There's no point in going after a guy like Penny unless he's willing to sign for league minimum.
  9. Jackson and Mayfield both had their 5th year options picked up for the 22-23 season, and could be franchise tagged for 23-24. Neither guy is going anywhere this offseason. My thoughts on contract extensions.... Mayfield - no chance he's extended before playing out his 5th year option. Through his first 4 seasons the best he's played is at a Ryan Tannehill level - a competent game manager that can succeed on a strong team. His biggest issue is that his 4th year has been his worst season. I can't see how the Browns can extend him when he has a low ceiling and is on a negative trajectory. Jackson - small chance he's extended before playing out his 5th year option. He is an exceptional athlete and fully deserved his MVP award (the 2021 pro bowl is another story). His biggest issue is, as a pure passing QB, he's pretty bad. Jackson has had almost no success against quality teams (the playoff record and stats speak for themselves). As a Ravens fan I'd be concerned that the team looks pretty much the same with Tyler Huntley (who?) at QB. Ultimately I think Jackson signs a massive contract in Baltimore.....with very little $$ guaranteed and that gives the team multiple outs. I think Baker ends up walking away from Cleveland and bouncing around the league as an overpaid average-ish starter.
  10. I was making a joke. Not a particularly good one, but the guy does have the goofiest name I've ever seen
  11. Judon's trip was the worst thing from that game. Not sure how 2 other Patriots gets fined and he skates by. Also surprised that Diggs didn't get a fine for his...banter... with the fans.
  12. I'd put Sanders in the bottom 5 just for dropping the TD. Was it this game he ran into Knox and wiped both players out ? Pretty bad game from Kumerow as well
  13. TIL I was going to guess it was related to Nickelodeon's Slimetime NFL awards they give out weekly.
  14. We traded a 1st+ for Diggs. I think it's fair to count him as a 1st round pick on offense
  15. I thought Dawkins let his guy go to the outside because he wanted to avoid a holding penalty that he was already very close to committing
  16. I'm going for a B- Pats went 3/3 in the Red Zone and started 5/5 on 4th downs (our only stop coming on 4th and long hail mary at the end of the game). If even a few of those had gone our way this would've been an A+ performance
  17. He deserves a fine for that. Might've been subtle enough that the NFL will let it go, but that was 100% intentional. Apparently Judon had a nut shot on Wentz last week ?
  18. I haven't been able to make up my mind on which decision is worse. Josh Allen not making the Pro Bowl or Dawkins making it. Personally, I think Allen is having the best season of any AFC QB. The top 3 are clearly Allen, Mahomes, and Herbert - however you want to rank them I don't think anyone would argue too much. Jackson is a great player, but having a bad year. He might not even be the best QB on the Ravens.
  19. Getting Godwin at a bit of a discount due to the injury? I'm salivating just thinking about a WR corps of Diggs, Godwin, Davis. I was thinking the Bucs would franchise tag him after the injury, but he was already tagged for 2021. Tagging him again in 2022 escalates the contract even more, and the Bucs have a lot of money already tied up in existing obligations. I think there's a good chance Godwin makes it to the open market.
  20. "playing the ball" is an important part of the rule. You are correct that it doesn't give the defender carte blanche to do whatever they want, but there are only a few specific things that would still be considered to be interference if the defender is playing the ball. The Colts defender was playing the ball, did not grab arms, did not extend arm across the body of opponent, did not play through his back, no push off, and no hooking. ARTICLE 2. PROHIBITED ACTS BY BOTH TEAMS WHILE THE BALL IS IN THE AIR. Acts that are pass interference include, but are not limited to: (a) Contact by a player who is not playing the ball that restricts the opponent’s opportunity to make the catch; (b) Playing through the back of an opponent in an attempt to make a play on the ball; (c) Grabbing an opponent’s arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass; (d) Extending an arm across the body of an opponent, thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, and regardless of whether the player committing such act is playing the ball; (e) Cutting off the path of an opponent by making contact with him, without playing the ball; (f) Hooking an opponent in an attempt to get to the ball in such a manner that it causes the opponent’s body to turn prior to the ball arriving; or (g) Initiating contact with an opponent by shoving or pushing off, thus creating separation. Note: If there is any question whether player contact is incidental, the ruling should be no interference ARTICLE 3. PERMISSIBLE ACTS BY BOTH TEAMS WHILE THE BALL IS IN THE AIR. Acts that are permissible by a player include, but are not limited to: (a) Incidental contact by an opponent’s hands, arms, or body when both players are competing for the ball, or neither player is looking for the ball. If there is any question whether contact is incidental, the ruling shall be no interference. (b) Inadvertent tangling of feet when both players are playing the ball or neither player is playing the ball. (c) Contact that would normally be considered pass interference, but the pass is clearly uncatchable by the involved players, except as specified in 8-3-2 and 8-5-4 pertaining to blocking downfield by the offense. (d) Laying a hand on an opponent that does not restrict him in an attempt to make a play on the ball. (e) Contact by a player who has gained position on an opponent in an attempt to catch the ball. I'd say the no-call last night was proper enforcement of the rules.
  21. 14th (as rated by EDJ Sports) in 4th down decisions isn't all that impressive. Here's a list of their top 5 worst coaching decisions from last week: https://edjsports.com/posts/91e0c61c-f62e-445e-a4fa-7eacf49772bc I think decisions 2-5 are no brainers and that the coaches made the correct decision in being conservative. #1 is more of a toss up. EDJ sports says that the 49ers punting with 2:47 left in the 4th, while leading 20-13, and facing a 4th and 2 from their own 37 was the 2nd worst coaching decision of the week. There's about a 100% chance McDermott would punt in that scenario, and I would be on his side. Going for it is a huge risk with that little time left when you're up by 7. I'm extremely skeptical of the system this site is using if they think that punting there is an egregiously bad move.
  22. Kingsbury is trending in the right direction
