  1. After game 3 he was The Savior. After game 4 he is The Bust. People are so ridiculous. BTW he is the QB we have, like it or not. So why not indeed ease up on him so he keeps his mental outlook and have fun playing the game? It sucks for the OTHER players, especially the Vets, that this is the learning year for Allen. But folks, he is a rookie, a green one at that. Expect some growing pains. These are normal. What we have to see is how fast he adapts, learns, shore up some of his flaws. Calling him a bust already, damn. Again, read the title of this thread.
  2. Exactly. So to be "taught a lesson" he should pay? And what about her? She deserves the money for what exactly?
  3. I really didn't see any, though sometimes on TV we don't see enough of the field. So yeah Allen and the center have to adjust protection but also the RECEIVERS have to as well with hot routes. When so many players do not do it, a good chunk of the responsibility falls on the coaches! Sweeps, roll outs, passes in the flat, reverses, runs, many ways to also counter it, get Allen in groove, save him from the pounding, make use of his talents. While he sure has the arm to lead a vertical style of offense, the rest of the staff on offense don't. So I hope Daboll doesn't repeat last week's game plan! And that they pick the blitzes better! Just that alone would be HUGE.
  4. Here we again with people projecting Allen will be a bust by inventing scouting reports or focusing on the few bad ones. From what *I* recall, he was projected from a 3r rounder all the way to be the VERY FIRST PICK. Some say he went down to 7th because of his "rap lyric tweets" that contained the N word that came up just before the draft, some "experts" saying the Bills made a steal. And overall, while his projected ranking was all over the place, a general consensus placed him among the top 4 QBs with Mayfield, Darnold and Rosen. So... none of us know if he will be a a star, journeyman or bust yet. But stop saying the scouts were seeing him so dimly when it clearly was not the case. He was seen as the most raw for sure but still projected to go very high by most. "Experts" often have it wrong anyway but overall he had a very good reputation coming in.
  5. I agree. I still don't get why, of all the players on the roster, the Bills had to offer Incognito a paycut while he had basically overdelivered on the football side. Since, he's clearly have become unfit not only for football but for normal life until he is taken care of.
  6. Hope is a weird drug. But its effects are wearing off and I suspect I'm not the only one. And I was also a NFL football fan. Now I only catch a glimpse of other games but can and will miss SNF, MNF, TNF, etc.
  7. Yep. Being PATIENT doesn't mean being blind, but it's like the last game have made so many people forget how good Allen looked just one week prior and at many spots since he stepped on the field during preseason. And anyway, he's the QB we got, chill out people and support him! One game doesn't make or break a career
  8. I fully agree with that first quote. But the the 2nd is a real consideration. Losing is one thing. Getting blow out too often is quite another, especially being a defensive minded, fairly conservative coach! Otherwise, McD was a good part of ending the drought, next year he and Beane can made quite the impact and make their bed, for their and the team's benefits or downfall. Fans are sooooooooo impatient. Unless this season is blowout galore, they are sure to be back in 2019
  9. Well that's the (legit) gripe most fans have with Star, and as you point out, Clay. The superstar pay with OK performances. If they had average NFL wages nobody would pay much attention. It's more a criticism of the management than of the players. And that makes us wary about the upcoming seasons with lots of cap space: will the Bills's Brass make the right choices? And for those who to tank the season, sure higher draft dicks are good, but so is being an attractive team for free agents to sign here without having to offer the moon!
  10. It's sad, very sad, that I agree with your post (doh!). Game 3 was great ALSO for Allen's flashes, the fumbles, etc. Not simply for the W. This one was more on the line of "why do I put my precious time on this Earth watching this... and posting on a board after"
  11. We did notice Ted Washington playing, a lot, and Dareus as well when he decided to put some effort. I don't notice Star so far in 4 games. Good DL, simply not worth that much money and cap space. He is paid superstar level money.
  12. Good! It was sooooo evident. IDK why either. Of course you don't repeat exactly what you did in game 3 in game 4, but it's like none of the game plan after the first few drives was tailored to what could work for the Bills O. Sure the first few drives didn't pan out but stick to the plan a little longer! By changing so drastically, the Offense cannot have an "identity". IDK about Ivory as a receiver, but we know McCoy is pretty good and I'd venture to say the TE are better than the WR group. A purely "vertical" route tree doesn't work as the main one for these players! Help Allen a bit!
  13. I agree. But it was his first time being like that, and you could sense he still had that fire. He still believed till late in the game, and then you could feel he wanted to avoid the shutout. So yes he was rattled but not mentally defeated. I like that.
  14. Agreed. And while it's loo late for that, the Bills really miss a sane Incognito on the field! As I expected. The duo of #64-#25 was MONEY the last 3 years. So much so I still can't grasp why the Bills wanted Richie to take a paycut but that's in the past now...
  15. He has had one great game where receivers dropped tons of balls and one really bad one. Give him more time, will ya all? If he only had awful games, that's one thing. So far he's made some great showings in the preseason and real games, and some deer-in-the-headlight ones. IMO he has shown enough promise, especially with that surrounding cast, for us to keep faith. Some flaws like doing too much, not reading blitzes well (which seem a TEAM issue as much as his), and a few more are most likely correctable damn fast. Rookie mistakes. Accuracy? He's been off 2 games, and on one. He seems to be the classical "rhythm passer", if in a groove can tear a defense apart, if not, is like a wild goose all over the place. And some of the routes miitakes and long throws misses, well when he knows his receivers better (and vice versa) things will improve. He barely played and practiced with the 1st stringers during preseason. Reading defenses and such, only time will tell if he picks things fast. He is GREEN. Has he shown enough to warrant continuing on even IF the Bills had another option? Damn right. Edit: and he seems tough mentally. That's crazy important for a rookie thrown in the fire with such a dire offensive cast
  16. What? Voicing legit concerns is one thing. Most of the negative comments are simply "he's a bust" "a joke" and whatnot, and then wait to jump on him when he has a bad game to prove "they're right". His flaws are well known. So what remains to be seen, and only time can tell, is if how quickly he learns overall and shores up SOME of his flaws during the year.
  17. Except for the Oline and WRs, which are clearly among the bottom of the league, it seems the strengths and weaknesses have been all over the place. Hard to recall a more uneven start to a season. The 2nd halves of Chargers & Packers games, and of course the Viking one, is so different then the rest we'll need 4 more games to know the "identity" of this team! As for Allen, I can't believe all the doom'n gloomers burying him already. We need a lot more games to know. Man I hate these negative hacks that just want to either troll or simply spreed their miserable outlook and hope they are "right".
  18. I thought the same. I actually liked they were pass heavy during the preseason, with the 3 QB battle being the main point to clarify. And just to see different wrinkles. But yeah, I thought they would return to a more run oriented passing game. Now, I don't want them to try to be a "run through the middle bully" as that too doesn't fit the personal... And besides this last 2nd half where they should have still be run heavy, hard to know what they would have done if the score had been close. The first 2 games were blowouts, remember?
  19. I'd settle for 400 yards myself Yours is one of the few posts that make sense here LOL Sure I think a 30+ run game plan would make sense with a rookie QB and receivers that can't catch, BUT, you need an OLine for that! The thing is, you do NOT disregard the run like they did yesterday. Sure it did feel like a blowout at times, but 16-0 with two quarters to play, even 19-0, you don't ditch the run! And I'm sure Shady can still play. Not with 5 runs and no holes will we see if he's lost a step or not!
  20. I kind of disagree. The Packers' offense weren't clicking like they could, and Rodgers missed some wide open receivers. BUT, the Bills missed maybe 3 picks, including a pick 6. So he should shut it.
  21. Not that I agree with it, but the premise was that McCarron or Nate would start while Allen would "sit & learn". Still, that OLine and WR corp needed to be addressed. It's clear most of you feel this is hopeless if you can only talk of the past or next year's draft. All fine and dandy but this thread was to be about the present. The difference between winning and losing is often very small, so even this season is not done yet. The NFL has to do like hockey. It's not normal it's AUTOMATICALLY better to be 2-14 than 7-9 for the draft. The NHL lottery is a great idea. You guys really want to watch a 1-15 season just so the team drafts higher?
  22. At last a comment on what can be done NOW. And the "fire everybody" crowd, great thinking (sarcarsm). Easy to fire people but then you need replacements that very few of you suggest. As for Mahomes, many teams passed on him like it happens to 95% of great players in this league so can it, especially since most people saying so are commenting now that he is having success, not saying so last year. On the other hand, the critics for not addressing the OLine and WR spots, now that's quite on the money and deserved.
  23. I love Shady and want as a fan to keep him, but rationally, unless his cap hit on the other team is low, no way the Bills get much for him with his stats so far and that messy legal case looming.
  24. You guys are such downers LOL Oh I don't have much hope, but one thing the 3 whooping games slump of last year showed, McD at least keeps the fighting spirits up! You guys would need it.
