Peterman actually played quite well!
Jerome007 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He failed big time at being a starter. But is he really worse than most 3rd stringers? Often times these guys are not set to start games but have to be ready to come at any time and take over. He seems to know the playbook well enough, is ready, he just doesn't have the arm strength. Anyway, not my decision to make and it shouldn't be that controversial a topic. Questioning McD's judgment on QBs? Sure. Questioning Beane's judgment at having only 2 QBs for so long on the roster, not getting some OLine or WR help this year? Sure. Mocking Peterman all the way out of the NFL? A tad pushing it, as if he had become the focus point for all the anger the fans feel. -
Peterman actually played quite well!

Well, I partly agree. IF, and it's a big IF, we forget about his other two starts, it would seem he had an OK game with a bad supporting cast and unlucky bounces. Because of his prior short history, the 3 INTs look awful but they were not. Still it was a very average dink pass kind of game, but the few times he did throw "long" they were damn accurate, and it's also true he wasn't confused by the Bears D. Basically, he would have seemed like a decent 3rd stringer or occasional backup. Not a starter for sure, but not either deserving of all the crap thrown at him. Meanwhile guys like Clay and Benjamin are making over 10 times what he makes and get some criticism but not to that extent. Such is the life at the QB position but McCarron couldn't cut it, Anderson's stats are almost as bad this year on this team, and even Allen's stats are bad. All QBs for the team this year suck, OLine is the least paid one by far in the NFL, receiver group might be the worse, so it's kind of unfair to run Nate out of the NFL but who said life is fair? -
Why do we never throw the ball down the field?
Jerome007 replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not a video game but I still agree with the premise of this thread: since short passes and runs aren't working, try a lot more long passes! Sure most won'.t work but what is going on now isn't either will little payoff. -
Josh Allen is all that matters
Jerome007 replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That and the multiple blowouts should make McD uncomfortable. A losing season he gets a pass, 2019 is the test, but losing that badly, and seemingly not caring more about the offense are red flags indeed. Allen needs help to develop! They better surround Allen with talent this offseason! Priority #1. Their success and Allen's are connected a lot so they better have a sense of mission doing so. -
Agreed but we also need to point out that they didn't really plan on playing Josh until mid-year, if necessary... The Bills have are what, 2-2 with Allen and 0-5 without him? Or 2-3 and 0-4. Anyway, whatever happens elsewhere, I hope he and Edmund come back soon to learn on the fly.

We could have kept Fitzpatrick all these years...

I've written that a few times here too. Feels often like speaking to a wall so thanks -
Any positive take away at all?
Jerome007 replied to The Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. The positives are for NEXT year. Overall on defense, the few losses to FA, retirements and whatnot should not impact defense much, and if the Brass focus on the offense with FA, trades and picks, it could get better quickly, just like the Bears. Lawson had a good showing, and under 200 yards allowed is damn good. OK I'm done -
When $90M isn't really $90M...
Jerome007 replied to twoandfourteen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kind of irrelevant? What? While I do agree a bad team in a small market makes it harder to get some guys and have to "overpay" compared to other teams, saying it's irrelevant is just being a pouty negative crybaby. Which after a stretch of games like this year can be easy to comprehend but come on. -
Come on now. He deserved to be cut for his other performances, but not after today. Was he good? Nope. But he did look like a lot of 3rd stringers in this league. And he was accurate And besides a few flashes by Allen, no QB has looked good on the team this year! None. Maybe it's the team and not all on them? WRs and OLine, suspect playcalling - though last 2 games can we really blame Daboll? Man this team needs new players on offense next year! Shady was tackled in the back field all day long. But why not throw to him again? Run from swing passes instead of it in the middle? Why not see 2 back sets and unique sets like last week? So I guess I just had a turnaround moment on Daboll!

Shady definitely in the Bills plans for 2019
Jerome007 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shady's stats are awful this year, but any one of us watching the game can see that it's not on him! Just like the Bear's offense and Trubinski went from 30th last year to top 10 this year, he can bounce back for sure. His desire to perform and win are there for sure. Stats don't say everything! He can still play. And by the same eye-test evaluation, so can Allen. To what level we don't know but they have not been in awesome situations so far... This year it has a LOT to do with an awful they are. The Bills have the least paid active roster in the NFL because of all the dead cap space! So yeah it matters. But for next year, cap space is what they'll have more than any other team so keeping Shady makes sense. -
Marc Trestman fired by Argonauts
Jerome007 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What? At 3-6 or 2-7, you can show you're "desperate". Or truly care about helping the QBs on the roster... -
Those that want Peterman gone so bad might get their wishes tomorrow if Nate again stinks up the place, as there is an additional QB on the roster now, well two if the new WR is thrown in the mix (BTW, in the mix or not for a QB spot, I sure hope he is used to throw a pass on trick plays! I can't believe the Cheatriots have never used Elleman for that!). And both Allen and Anderson are likely back sooner than later. Easy to say fire X, fire Y, fire Z, but you need people to fill their spots! Am I confident in Peterman tomorrow? Hell no. But shut up already, he is the QB they have for now! In a way we did expect the QBs to be hurt this season as the OLine had looked so bad early on and in preseason, but it has had more to do with bad luck than that. Yes Beane should have acted way earlier for Anderson and even to replace Peterman, but we are NOW, not in lalaland, and Nate starts tomorrow. It's really his last chance to save his NLF career, not only his Bills one. Beane is a new guy, so is McD, and even vets make mistakes so they have some leeway. But, QB is the most important position in football yet we didn't get any sense of urgency from the Bills brass. For a long while there was only Josh and Nate on the roster, even after the later was benched. No excuse for that, seriously.

And who exactly is out there? You know how many teams are looking for great QBs? At least half the NFL teams! Great QBs and Wrs and OLinemen are not stocked somewhere magical to pick them off a shelf. Allen could be damn good as well. And good on Beane to admit this. A QB coach could help too... Foles is an anomaly but for a 2 win team, the 49s seem to always have good QB play. Coaching helps. No doubt Mahones is great, but man is he ever well surrounded on offense, from coaches to the OLine, stacked everywhere. Allen has performed on line with the other rookie QBs, surrounded with less talent, has had critical drops including at least one TD, yet so many "fans" want to vomit on his chances. SMH at those who would prefer to be "proven right that he is a bust" than rooting for him to be the QB of the future for the Bills.
-
No sustained success but damn all his QBs have performed great for him, certainly not coincidence! His example and how quickly the Bears (and Trubinski) turned their offense around gives hope for Allen in 2019

Shady definitely in the Bills plans for 2019
Jerome007 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm glad he is. But I've seen so many hockey GMs give a vote of confidence to their coach and fire him days after to put too much weight on his words But still, nice to make your captain feel welcomed - and not too disappointed to not have been traded to the Eagles... He had 80 receiving yards, played after a concussion, so hard to criticize the man, but his body language was not great last game. -
Nate Peterman "I'm ready to go win a game"
Jerome007 replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I too wishes he has a decent game so he doesn't have to be the butt of jokes forever on. He doesn't deserve it and surely has shown perseverance. Yet I still don't think he can be not should be a NFL QB... Hey, it's on him to prove the world wrong. -
How bad are we making our receivers look???
Jerome007 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh sure. Playcalling, OFFENSIVE LINEMEN, running game, it has got nothing to do with it. It's 90% the QB... And star WRs are just glorified fantasy stat hoarders thanks to their QBs, right? Hey, I agree the QB is the most important part. But football is a team game. Let's not disrespect the process... that all teams use. Nor the big guys - the game is won in the trenches as the saying goes. -
Just have to write this out to believe it (QBs)
Jerome007 replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These don't matter in that it wasn't McD or Beane or even the Pegulas in charge. This year has been bad enough LOL Well I am of the opinion Allen can be quite good! But a team still needs a least one decent backup. Anderson as a mentor was also a late but good addition. Injuries compounded the bad stuff. -
I've been saying this from day one. And they've done this just a few times, and quite a lot in the 1st quarter of the last game. About time! Do it more, way more! Shady and Ivory are the stars on offense. Keep the defenses guessing! BTW Ivory is a damn good blocker for pas protection too. IDK about his receiving skills but he has caught a huge one from Allen.
-
This. I'll say this: yesterday was the first time that his body language was not up to snuff. But the dude came back from a concussion to play, and he was a threat, so criticism should be spared! The Bills brass don't use him enough, especially in the passing game! Yesterday was a step in the right direction for a few things on offense. But it was so new in a way the players were confused. It should be better from now on. Still, can't wait for JOSH TO BE BACK! As for "deserves better". Sure, but all players and even us FANS do. He is paid handsomely so in that regard I won't cry for him. But I do hope he's still here next year and get to taste a victorious season!
