  1. He seems so coachable too. The right combination of willingness to learn & better himself with great inner confidence.
  2. Again the media is all about the QBs and "skill players" after wins but did you see the dominance of the OLines yesterday? Mahomes had so many pass attempts when he had tons of time, a clean line of vision, etc. And the Rams OLine totally whooped the Dallas D. It wasn't that the Cowboys defense played bad, were out of sync or outschemed. They were simply pushed around like if they were a weak front 7. Crazy dominance. The Chiefs have so many offensive weapons, Mahones can run around and escape the rush, and the SCHEMES are amazing. The plays are so varied, so well designed, that the OLine could look better than it is, IDK. Awesome coaching in any case. But the Rams, that was a straight mugging. In any case, I can just picture Josh and the Bills O with a great line like that *drools* Nobody would be saying McCoy is done if he had been running behind that line - or we would know if he indeed slowed down as there was no way to tell, he had no holes.
  3. Solder is the counter-example. Seriously, from the outside, signing a proven star LT and then selecting a freak RB at #2 overall in the draft, while having Eli, Beckham, etc. it sure sounded a great plan to build a top level offense. Talk about backfiring! Well, that RB is for real, but the rest didn't work. You can't fault the intent or plan though. Goes to show how hard it can be to build a great team! Still I too think simply 2 significant improvement at the OLine, with Josh in his 2nd year, Daboll having figured up his roster, all that can lead to instant significant improvements, even it doesn't fix most issues.
  4. I have written this before and will do again: the OLine will only improve if Beane focuses on it AND according to who's available. Good OLinemen are in demand and most signed. There are not stocked somewhere just ready to be signed. And those available will be courted by a dozen teams. The Chiefs have kept on winning without a hitch when Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (RG) went down with a broken leg. I don't think he's been back to playing yet though he should be recovered now. As he's paid 8M a year they could want to trade him if the offer is right and the Bills happen to have cap space. Who else out there could be available?
  5. Sunday is THE day associated with pro football but yeah, the Superbowl on a Saturday or earlier in the day would make sense. Ends quite late for people in EST, especially kids.
  6. No. I meant competition for the #2 & 3 spots. No doubt for me Josh is #1. If no one ousts Barkley or Anderson, I'm fine with it too. But competition is good! (Well unless it takes away all these reps with the #1 team away from Allen like last offseason...)
  7. That one was not a dig though, more a compliment to a past teammate. And way too late for Richie now and he's better getting help than playing football but he was sorely missed this year. THE difference in the run game and McCoy's production. At least his recent dig is way out of the season so no biggie but yeah no good can come out of that, for him or the team.
  8. Well in a way I hope there is competition still next year but yes it's a good thing. Remember all the talk on here of how McD , Daboll & the Bills brass couldn't develop a young QB? IDK how good or not they are at this, but I cringed at the knee-jerk statements because of the Bills past when this staff is new. So far they seem to be doing a good job, for sure.
  9. As this is real life, who stays and who goes depends on the new guys that come in through FA and the draft. ALL teams want better OLinemen so it's not like they are on a shelf just ready to be picked up. Beane's offseason moves will have way more impact than the next OL coach hiring. I still say "just" two good additions to the line will make the rest of the guys better and make quite an impact. Losing Richie was huge (ask Shady...), and losing Woods also hurt though not as bad. Of course 3-4-5 better players would be best but again, real life. At least McD is saying straight up this the #1 area to address during this offseason.
  10. In the NFL Top 100 players, as supposedly selected by the other players, he came in at #2 behind Brady last year. I'm not even sure he cracks the Top 10 this year. Still an awesome player but like you mention, what does it take to keep him happy????
  11. Why I fully agree is that by adding some real talent (just like you mentioned) makes the other borderline players improve by default. So while a complete overhaul would likely be better it is not NEEDED. At least the guys that remain on for next year have real NFL game experience, know the systems and coaches, etc. It's actually quite encouraging how easily the Bills O can be improved. Allen will most likely be better (if not injured!!!!), more chemistry with the other players, no off-season time wasted with the 3rd stringers, Daboll knows him, etc.
  12. Like Esiason said, he is "must see TV". To add to everything, he is entertaining! And in the end, that's why we watch.
  13. If true, it really IS a leadership issue! And while a diva, AB is still known as a perfectionist and a hard worker, so he must not respect the coaches very much.
  14. Well someone got one of the "leap" after the Vikings game so go right ahead I still remember that Kelly tackle after all these years. When it happened I had very little sympathy too... he had dared to pick Jimbo (doh!). Haaaaa... youth
  15. Mayfield is a winner and clearly was the best of the rookie QB class. By far. But I too can see Allen catching him and passing him bye not so far away in the future.
  16. If that happened to the Bills some posters would act as if "it's so Billsy", as if it happened only here. So many incidents like that point to the leadership. So Big Ben and mostly, the coach. He seems to have lost control over there. Just a weeks ago, Ben criticized Brown and other teammates. As many commentators said, you don't do that publicly, and the very rare times you do, you ALSO point to yourself first. Anyway, if this story is true, whatever the QB-players-coaches-media say, if you are a star receiver and just decide to pout and sit out the final game when the playoff hopes hang in the balance, there is zero excuse for that!
  17. No really related to what HE said, but every time a black coach is fired you can be sure this topic comes up. You think that helps hiring one? Almost ALL coaches end their tenures getting axed. Why deal with that extra stuff? BTW Lewis sure got quite the long life. So did the Browns coach after a 1-31 record! 70% of players are Black but somehow "we need" more Black QBs and coaches. So sick of this stuff.
  18. His reaction was nice and shows his great competitiveness, but even better was how he bounced back (and then some!) unaffected in the 2nd half. He is mentally tough. He has shown it in interviews, how he handled his injury, this pick 6, the zero point game in GB, etc. Remember, that was his first and only pick 6! I expected a lot more of these rookie mistakes, and overall only 4-5 bad passes in 10 games and only one pick 6 ain't so bad! (Yes many inaccurate passes but here I'm talking bad rookie decisions). Replacing Tyrod Taylor (remember him?) I expected at times to miss the scrambling and ball protection. Instead he outran TT (which himself had broken the Bills QB rush record) in only 10 games and made very few bad decisions. With way more upside, enthusiasm, leadership, etc. He overdelivered to me. This guy is special and let's hope this offseason that the OLine and WR group are greatly improved! The Bills O could be a force as of 2019!
  19. So.... are the Bills "fans" that have been going on how Allen is a bust will finally let it go? We all know they won't eat crow or admit to being wrong, but will they leave this alone this 2019 or still pollute this board all offseason? I've been a fan since the start so am biased the other way, but he has proved so much already. My "fear" is that he goes to top off at a Bradford-Cousins-Dalton level, you know, pretty damn good but not among the top guys. But to say he was to be a bust was just delusional, trolling or plain negativity. Hopefully that's over. Criticism is one thing. Just saying he sucks and could never be good quite another.
  20. The season is so intense it does feel long, or long enough. But then reality sets in, and it's 9 whole months without the Bills (and Allen). So I do feel down about it, but I'll be more so later. Let's just say the signings during the offseason better be VERY GOOD. And the OLine and WRs given max attention. I was very lenient this year, as many fans, but won't be in 2019!
  21. Bradford, Cousins, seem a mistake to me. Still not as much a mistake as Dareus and Star... Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Luck... you pay them for sure. Most important position in football
  22. The offense was not that bad... except for the receivers, run blocking... OK they were bad but as mentioned in this thread, not that far behind - especially when we imagine just a few added good players next year. The run "defense" was the major killer besides the receivers. Since when has the Patriots been a successful run heavy team?
  23. He is weird in that he's been impressive in bunches and real bad in others. He has some tools like great speed and "sideline to sideline" ability, which is great for a MLB. and he's been calling plays in his rookie season. But yeah, he's also been blown off blocks too often, off target, easily confused. Some of that COULD be fixed through experience though. Don't forget that he could be a "victim" of the December rookie slump. These rookies go from a 10-11 game season to 16. Hopefully for us, it's that as he was bad yesterday.
  24. Even the second pick, while it WAS a bad pass, you'd expect most NFL caliber receivers to come back to the ball, and at least TRY to prevent the INT. Much like 50/50 ball, no guarantees but what about an actual attempt? There was the perfect long pass in the sun, all kinds of drops, it just goes on and on. They really are bad. Really bad. And the OLine can't run block to save their lives, though the pass blocking has become average, which is an improvement. And as much as overall I think the personal (roster) choices have been decent by McD and Beane, Star is so overpaid. When the Bills Dline get pushed around like yesterday, where's the return for his fat contract? As bad a decision as Dareus. Patriots have beaten the Bills many different ways, but I don't recall them just ramming the ball down like that. We all thought the defense was good enough to focus 80% of next year FA and draft picks on the offensive side of the ball. But if they cant stop the run, and not the first time that's happened, then what? I've been vocal in my excitement that with the cap space, add a few good OLinemen and WRs through FA and the draft, and overnight the Bills could be an offensive powerhouse. But I supposed the D would provide some good numbers too. They were parts of the blowouts and certainly of yesterday's loss.
  25. What I've been saying for a long time now. Sure, Allen does make mistakes and yet again missed some of the small throws. But *****, can he get help from his receivers? Look at Brady. On his stat sheet, another fairly long TD pass but Elleman made it happen and did a great play... which you expect 8-15 times a year from your receiving group. Not twice a year with dozens of drops in between! And when he has time, he has been money most of the time. With all the cap money for free agents and the draft picks, the Bills could very well be competing the division title by next year by upping the talent at OLine, WR, TE. Add a punter too while you're at it. And yes continuity matters. Daboll should know Allen and his players much better. Allen some of his receivers (I hope there are many new ones though...) I admit, I suspect Bellichick of spying, of cheating. He seems to guess so much of the Bills - and other teams - offensive plays. Still, even if he does cheat, he ALSO designs great offensive & defensive plays, ruses, disguises, have the players be ready, disciplined, contain Allen well, etc. So much little details that the Bills staff ain't up to snuff. As with players, some coaches are simply better but as it involves study and preparation, they have less excuse. It's not like the other guy just runs faster than you.
