  1. I live in Quebec so hockey is of course #1. But back then, in 1995, hockey was BORING. Lots and lots of hooking. Combine that with the fact that for years 16 teams out of 21 made the playoffs, regular season games had become dull, since as soon as a team was behind 2 or 3 goals, players would just give up, as each game was meaningless and the hooking made it quite a drag to come from behind. So I was out of sports so to speak, and happened by chance to see some NFL games and the intensity and just loved it. Lots of Bills games on TV and I just loved the uniform, the energy, the CROWD, that in Buffalo too it was harsh weather. A great Bills-Dolphins game in Buffalo in week 15 sealed the deal for me. The crowd and team were so ecstatic! Then they met again in the playoffs and the Bills won. True love I suppose. I deserve some status from Buffalo natives as staying true for those 17 years of drought as an out-of-towner shows real loyalty ha ha. Even today I watch basically only playoff hockey (which is AMAZING), but also MMA and pro cycling along with the Bills and the NFL. Back then, it was the Bills. No holds barred fighting had just begun.
  2. Yep. And what about all the time Brees, Ryan and Rivers haven't made the playoffs? Or Rodgers and Big Ben this year? Ridiculous opening statement post. Now I sure want Allen to lead the Bills to the playoffs THIS year and all the next ha ha, it goes without saying, and they can do it, but come on.
  3. I live in Quebec so very few Bills fans and still have a Bills winter coat. I'm never "ashamed", nope, but it being a WINTER coat, I often wore it as the Bills are eliminated so not the best proposition... Edit: it's more the stigma with wearing sports gear in normal life - as opposed to at sporting events - that makes me reconsider wearing it so often. Not it being Bills gear, especially as these are exciting times!
  4. I agree with the white collar crime part, but come on, few if any care if Joe Schmo has got an handjob. You think it would make worldwide news? In that sense Kraft as gotten the shaft of social opinion ha ha MILLIONS know about it and his spotty clean image will never be the same. At first I saw ZERO to be outraged about, but yeah that place seems quite suspect. I don't care at all of transactions between consenting adults, it should be legal, but underage prostitution and human trafficking should be dealt with harshly.
  5. Crazy but true. BUT, they are doing their best to surround him with talent, and Josh has shown in year #1 that he has not only the physical tools but the MENTAL tools as well. And he obviously is a hard worker and coachable. Barring bad injuries, this team is poised for much better things next year, and Beane will have as much leeway with the 2020 cap! And he has been smart enough to not load the 2021+ years either. There are no guarantees, but damn it bodes well!
  6. Exactly. I was one that had confidence from the get go, but he, like everybody else, has to delivered the goods. And his moves so far make total sense... even if it doesn't pan out. We can all see it's logical, good for the short term while not compromising the long term. Amazing though that all will fall into place if Allen is a franchise QB (and I sure think he is). Crazy when you think about it. But nice that Josh seems surrounded by a great staff and players.
  7. I agree. For some reason, in football, draft picks are seen as such valuable assets. For example, to me the Browns won in the trade. OBJ is a proven superstar and fits well with their current situation. A #17 pick and a 3 rd rounder the Giants got are crapshoots, and the chance to get a major superstar out of them next to zero. I mean, if one team has proven high 1st draft picks don't matter, it's the Browns ha ha. When you have top 5 picks, yes, sure, most of the time there are gold in there. The opposite example of the Browns to still illustrate the point: the damn Patriots. How have they fared these last 15 years with no high draft picks?... Somewhat more proven players like mentioned in the original post are more likely to succeed, and I certainly do NOT regret the Bills trading picks last year to get the #7 spot and grab Josh Allen!
  8. Seems to me, all OLinemen signed are more pass blockers than run blockers... Add the new receivers for speed and slot + TE... I sense a really pass happy Bills team this coming season! While I do like a good run game, this could be a really vertical, long pass happy team that's very entertaining. Is it built for November & December weather though?
  9. This trade just shows that unlike mass media and people's perceptions overall, things can change quick. Cleveland was the cesspool of the NFL for years until last year, and mid-year really. Now they are a legit powerhouse, will probably be favored to win their division at the very least. Well, same thing for the Bills. Things can change quick and the jokes that people made when AB almost got here will be a thing of the past.
  10. You're so positive... Yes they can be as bad, but again, the ODDS are they will be better. I didn't realize there now were guarantees in pro sports... You play the odds with the cards you're dealt and can get, and that's what Beane is doing. All he can do, really.
  11. And people... don't forget Allen's running abilities! He can't spin around people but give him a straight field and he has shown amazing speed. 20+ yard runs are great and demoralizes defenses. It should open up Shady's runs too, which happens to also be a very good receiver IMO. I suspect the Bills will be a pass happy team first and foremost. Seriously, what a difference so far already. If they can pass protect, expect a LOT of long plays. It will be entertaining, whatever else happens!
  12. The Bills have good cap space for the next two years so these signing make total sense. The players are happy to sign here as they get loads of money right away. The team is happy as either they have great producers for little cap room in year 3-4, or they move on with little dead money. It makes total sense for the current situation. And yeah, there is that possibility you mention I sure hope doesn't happen though ha ha. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (RG) was injured most of last year and his replacement did a good for much cheaper. So *maybe* the Bills can attract him thanks to the Morse signing. But currently it would have to be a trade with the Chiefs
  13. I too was rolling eyes when I heard this signing but this whole thread and posts like this one makes me realize how much sense it makes. A one year deal too. For some reason, I thought he was over the hill. If he is still solid - yes I know he is not his dominant young self - and good locker room leader, good signing! I always pictured him more as a pure runner and good blocker but I might be wrong. Is he a good pass catcher?
  14. I too like this signing but I too think we are overloaded at the #3 WR spots and slot receivers ha ha. But then he makes others less needed. Solid upgrades overall by Beane. Kind of silent deals that won't attract media attention but make significant impacts.
  15. Yes but the point is that they didn't pan out. Why? Hard to say. But odds are the new guys will be way better, just because the guys they replaced awfully underproduced. And with a better OLine, Allen with more experience and a FULL training camp at #1 with his receivers to develop timing... it doesn't take that much to improve (or regress). The thing that bothers me is that the Bills were fairly lucky as it comes to injuries last year, so no matter the planning, that's always a danger and depth always a factor. FA is far from over and the drat hasn't happened yet, but still we can say they have improved from last year. Enough? We'll see.
  16. I was one of the guys on here that would like the Bills to sign him. After that video he posted of himself (Mr Big Chest - WTH!!), he looks out of his mind. A "little diva"? He's a full blown one. He's still super talented and worth his salary and a #1 round pick but he is toxic.
  17. Ridiculous how pure assumptions are used for documentaries. What about the dozens of proven cases instead. **** these fake victims. Ok, she might a real one but everything smells so fishy here. And in any case, you don't do such stuff without knowing all the facts and just going by some troublemaker drama queen's words. Again, many PROVEN cases to go with.
  18. "Garcon’s release leaves behind $7.2M of dead cap to the #49ers, clearing $1.525M of cap space." Wow. That doesn't exactly say the 49ers think highly of him!
  19. I laugh at how so many of you think draft picks are some sacred prizes. The higher you draft, the better the chance the players pans out, the better the ODDS, no guarantees at all. AB is a PROVEN top receiver, one of THE best. Voted #2 overall best player in 2017 by his peers behind Brady. Of course, all his other issues sure factor in the decision process. Also matter the remaining years in the contract, pay vs cap space and blablabla. But overall a 1st round draft pick is an educated gamble that you can get someone very good or great. And often that player is average or a bust. So trading a pick for a proven player? A no-brainer unless the other factors mentioned don't make sense.
  20. Ha ha. I'm an SOD fan and never made the connection with his last name. Good find. He has a better 2nd year than his first which was already beyond expectations. The LB and secondary are top level. DLine could be improve in the middle? It's awesome that most of the focus for the FA and draft can be on the offense. The same defense with a better offense is already a better defense!
  21. I think it's Boomer Esiason that called Josh "must see TV" and he is right. Dude was an highlight machine and is just plain exciting. He's got desire, charisma, and quite the arm and legs. With wins the media WILL get back on the Bills wagon. Sure a small city is often ignored but a 17 year drought and a losing season by October don't exactly help. Even if you forgot trends, we could see his improvements, and this time he will clearly be #1 and rep with the starters from day one of training camp. Chemistry between QB and receivers is NOT overrated.
  22. I have really high expectations of Josh and the Bills next year, especially if Beane can produce. Not as easy as it sounds to draft and sign FA impact players on OL and WRs - not many are available and 50% of the teams are competing for them. They are not on a shelf just waiting to be taken as so many fans seem to imply. But he'll try, and the defense can be as good if not better with Milano, Edmund, White all having more experience, safeties still top notch, etc. Add more experience also by McD and Daboll, and the future is bright. Sure the pressure is on. We expect great things as soon as 2019. It might not be realistic but it is what it is. Injuries and bad luck can always derail a season and a good plan but come on, the odds are in the Bills favor for once. And to me Allen is the real deal already. I can't remember being as pumped this century! And the draft and free agents signing have not even started! A LOT rides on Beane, no doubt.
  23. Sweet video. It sure got me pumped. A baller.
  24. I don't go for the male strippers, I go for the great conversations and classy beers. OK, some of the food too. Brady and Bellichick are the best ever. I still was rooting against them. I don't think I'm the only one surprised they won this year. If another team, we'd be calling them a surprise upset team. I still can't grasp how their D became so great and their D line suddenly one of the best. Great schemes or not, it makes no sense. Brady was very clutch but besides that a glamour game manager (this year, not all his career!). It disgusts me they won but they made it happen. You can give them credit yet wish them a losing season. I just want the Allen led Bills to beat them twice (or thrice!) a year for a few years before Father Time does the job
