He has had one great game where receivers dropped tons of balls and one really bad one. Give him more time, will ya all? If he only had awful games, that's one thing. So far he's made some great showings in the preseason and real games, and some deer-in-the-headlight ones. IMO he has shown enough promise, especially with that surrounding cast, for us to keep faith. Some flaws like doing too much, not reading blitzes well (which seem a TEAM issue as much as his), and a few more are most likely correctable damn fast. Rookie mistakes. Accuracy? He's been off 2 games, and on one. He seems to be the classical "rhythm passer", if in a groove can tear a defense apart, if not, is like a wild goose all over the place. And some of the routes miitakes and long throws misses, well when he knows his receivers better (and vice versa) things will improve. He barely played and practiced with the 1st stringers during preseason. Reading defenses and such, only time will tell if he picks things fast. He is GREEN. Has he shown enough to warrant continuing on even IF the Bills had another option? Damn right. Edit: and he seems tough mentally. What? Voicing legit concerns is one thing. Most of the negative comments are simply "he's a bust" "a joke" and whatnot, and then wait to jump on him when he has a bad game to prove "they're right". His flaws are well known. So what remains to be seen, and only time can tell, is if how quickly he learns overall and shores up SOME of his flaws during the year.

Except for the Oline and WRs, which are clearly among the bottom of the league, it seems the strengths and weaknesses have been all over the place. Hard to recall a more uneven start to a season. The 2nd halves of Chargers & Packers games, and of course the Viking one, is so different then the rest we'll need 4 more games to know the "identity" of this team! As for Allen, I can't believe all the doom'n gloomers burying him already. We need a lot more games to know. Man I hate these negative hacks that just want to either troll or simply spreed their miserable outlook and hope they are "right".

I thought the same. I actually liked they were pass heavy during the preseason, with the 3 QB battle being the main point to clarify. And just to see different wrinkles. But yeah, I thought they would return to a more run oriented passing game. Now, I don't want them to try to be a "run through the middle bully" as that too doesn't fit the personal... And besides this last 2nd half where they should have still be run heavy, hard to know what they would have done if the score had been close. The first 2 games were blowouts, remember?

The thing is, you do NOT disregard the run like they did yesterday. Sure it did feel like a blowout at times, but 16-0 with two quarters to play, even 19-0, you don't ditch the run! And I'm sure Shady can still play. Not with 5 runs and no holes will we see if he's lost a step or not!

I kind of disagree. The Packers' offense weren't clicking like they could, and Rodgers missed some wide open receivers. BUT, the Bills missed maybe 3 picks, including a pick 6. So he should shut it.

Not that I agree with it, but the premise was that McCarron or Nate would start while Allen would "sit & learn". Still, that OLine and WR corp needed to be addressed. It's clear most of you feel this is hopeless if you can only talk of the past or next year's draft. All fine and dandy but this thread was to be about the present. The difference between winning and losing is often very small, so even this season is not done yet. The NFL has to do like hockey. It's not normal it's AUTOMATICALLY better to be 2-14 than 7-9 for the draft. The NHL lottery is a great idea. You guys really want to watch a 1-15 season just so the team drafts higher?

At last a comment on what can be done NOW. And the "fire everybody" crowd, great thinking (sarcarsm). Easy to fire people but then you need replacements that very few of you suggest. As for Mahomes, many teams passed on him like it happens to 95% of great players in this league so can it, especially since most people saying so are commenting now that he is having success, not saying so last year. On the other hand, the critics for not addressing the OLine and WR spots, now that's quite on the money and deserved.

I love Shady and want as a fan to keep him, but rationally, unless his cap hit on the other team is low, no way the Bills get much for him with his stats so far and that messy legal case looming.

Guys, he mentions what can be done NOW. We all know drafts and all and etc. To me, much better offensive play calling. Small passes to the flats, reverses, 2 back sets, more involvement of the TE, basically mask some of the weaknesses of the OLine and get Allen and the offense into a groove. Don't ditch the run. Have a few max protection plays for deep throws to have the opposing defenses always wary of Allen's arm. A LOT of things went right last week, but many of the successes can be reproduced too! Need much better coaching to adapt to blitzes! Sure Allen has misses some assignment calls, but the OLine has been guilty too, and mostly, when have the wideouts/TE changed their routes to be a quick dump off? With the salary cap left, no WR they can sign? Bryant is a diva but maybe can be had for just the reminder of the year.

The unabated free rushers are a recurring theme. Some had been clearly on Allen, not changing protection. But in this game, is it just me that feel the whole offense has been clueless to adjust? The OLine doesn't see it, Josh doesn't either, no hot routes change by the WRs/TE, and overall, no safety blanket dump-off options. WTH was that? Seems a good deal of this falls on the coaches! And no commitment to the run game, and well, no run game. That's not exciting... Almost ALL QBs need some run support or at least the threat of one. Daboll's pass routes were suspect but some good short lateral passes and two back sets very early were good. It was all vertical passing game from now on, and seems to me only Allen can play the part. Refs not calling the holdings vs Hughes and the blatant pick for a TD were indeed frustrating.

Not a fumble to me but why what seems to be a designed run? And the previous play, OLinemen discuss at length the protection, and when the play starts of course there's one free guy. WTH

Allen was right to continue on the play. Tripped by his own teammate. Why no challenge? This game is horrible all around. But it seems like they are outcoached, out of sync, out of many things, BUT, not a doormat level team like in those first 6 quarters. Small consolation but you sense they can do much better.

What's maddening to me, is trying to figure out this team Even some of the glaring weaknesses change loss to loss.

What set up the pattern is no run game and no run defense. Pass rush, Allen, are factors too but damn without a run game this is going to be hard on offense. Can't blame Daboll as there are so little plays to judge the overall strategy and schemes. As for the Bills D, all the Rodgers runs are secondary designs of the pass patterns, just there for the taking. He's running maybe at 80% if so, it's not a question of him being athletic here, but of schemes.
