Props to the coaches. The Bills have obviously limited talent on offense, but both the offense and defensive game plans have been on. And they came to play, mentally ready. Nobody has given up on the season yet (except KB...). The coaches have been so criticized we also to give them credits when it's warranted. Daboll at last had many two back sets including the FB at times, short runs in the flat, even the WR screen at the end, checkdown outlets for Allen he rarely used, good mix of Shady and Ivory for the right situations, and so on. Weird that this wasn’t the basic offense TBH. I maintain there should ALSO be a few max protection plays with 2-3 deep routes to make use of Allen’s arm - and just the threat of this will keep defenses from crowding the line. Win or lose, this game looks like many of us expected the Bills to look. An above average defense that goes for turnovers like last year, with an offense that has to be run oriented because of its limitations. I just wonder if we’ll see the TE more involved at one point, and if Zay Jones will catch a pass before the 4th quarter ha ha Props to the special teams too. Punter botched that field goal but as a punter he has been good all year. Only one good return allowed (that was a nice TD saving open field tackle too)

Agrees! Fully. Otherwise, decent move. Daboll's genius playcalling or Anderson's limitations? Anyway, it's OUCH Palmer has his own successful business. Guys like that don't want to flush it all to work with one team and have to rebuild their client base all over after the team changes staff. Their pay by a team is not that great TOO btw. I know a super successful therapist and he mentioned that me. I talked to some of his peers, same thing. Just look at therapists, doctors, trainers, strength coaches that many players get on their own, in all team sports. But I'm sure Palmer could be hired for a few week stint...

True. Same for 2020. But so far it seems we have very low confidence that they will indeed make the right draft picks and sign the good FAs. It can get better very quickly, but as the Browns have shown with YEARS of being the doormat, it is no guarantee. Most of us are tired of just living on hope. I didn't expect a Superbowl season, but I did't expect the Bills to be the doormat of the NFL either and get blown out 3 games out of 4! Even if the Bills hadn't made the playoffs last year and had been let's say 7-9, you don't expect them to be the worst team of the league the year after!

I have patience with Allen, contrary to a lot of people on this board. I see huge potential in this kid. Besides that, the blowouts are disgusting, period. 3 whoopings in 4 games! Bills are ranked LAST in "power rankings". Yes that's too much to take. So call it selective patience, and I'm out of it. I still think people whine way too much. Such as the "fire everyone crowd"," they didn't get Mahomes" (like they were the only ones!), and blablabla. But so much cap space for a guy like Star, not addressing the OLine or WRs, giving Incognito the shaft BEFORE his meltdown (unless they knew otherwise), unoriginal game planning by Daboll, and on and on. Damn. How much can we take as fans? It's the first time in years I'm losing my passion for the Bills and football. I didn't think the "kneeling" wouldn't affect me, and at first I thought it didn't, but it made the SJW angle and all that crap enter the sport, so yeah it might be the starting point of it all for me - and for many others I suspect. NFL football is like a tribal outlet for many of us, and this stupidity caused a big rift in the imaginary bonds we have with the players. Before Losman the Bills lost but were always in it, fierce competitors and all. Since it's been in spurts, and the super lows between the highs are getting to a lot of us. I never consider the Patriots games and such as automatic L like so many people on here. But all these blowouts, the Bills now being the NFL doormat, that's too much. Can the situation change quickly in the next 2 years with the draft picks and cap space? Absolutely! But it could also remain as bad if the management decisions don't pan out. (Almost) Out of patience. Almost out of hope I guess would be more exact. If not for Allen I'd come back when they are winning again, like the fairweather fans I usually despise.

I like it. And with Ivory and Shady, the Bills sure have a very strong 2 back duo. They ran that twice I think last game. Not nearly enough but before that it was zero. You mention the pass aspect in your post, but runs are good too. Ivory ran the ball in the middle and some of the defenders had taken the McCoy bait - and even Allen could run it so keep'em guessing. RBs and TE are stronger than WRs on the team anyway so mix it up! Edit: and people bag on DiMarco but he can be effective in the run game as a blocker and of course as a check down option. Of course on paper it all makes sense, but they have to drill it to execute it come Sunday. I love the horn idea!

After game 3 he was The Savior. After game 4 he is The Bust. People are so ridiculous. BTW he is the QB we have, like it or not. So why not indeed ease up on him so he keeps his mental outlook and have fun playing the game? It sucks for the OTHER players, especially the Vets, that this is the learning year for Allen. But folks, he is a rookie, a green one at that. Expect some growing pains. These are normal. What we have to see is how fast he adapts, learns, shore up some of his flaws. I really didn't see any, though sometimes on TV we don't see enough of the field. So yeah Allen and the center have to adjust protection but also the RECEIVERS have to as well with hot routes. When so many players do not do it, a good chunk of the responsibility falls on the coaches! Sweeps, roll outs, passes in the flat, reverses, runs, many ways to also counter it, get Allen in groove, save him from the pounding, make use of his talents. While he sure has the arm to lead a vertical style of offense, the rest of the staff on offense don't. So I hope Daboll doesn't repeat last week's game plan! And that they pick the blitzes better! Just that alone would be HUGE.

Here we again with people projecting Allen will be a bust by inventing scouting reports or focusing on the few bad ones. From what *I* recall, he was projected from a 3r rounder all the way to be the VERY FIRST PICK. Some say he went down to 7th because of his "rap lyric tweets" that contained the N word that came up just before the draft, some "experts" saying the Bills made a steal. And overall, while his projected ranking was all over the place, a general consensus placed him among the top 4 QBs with Mayfield, Darnold and Rosen. So... none of us know if he will be a a star, journeyman or bust yet. But stop saying the scouts were seeing him so dimly when it clearly was not the case. He was seen as the most raw for sure but still projected to go very high by most. "Experts" often have it wrong anyway but overall he had a very good reputation coming in.

I agree. I still don't get why, of all the players on the roster, the Bills had to offer Incognito a paycut while he had basically overdelivered on the football side. Since, he's clearly have become unfit not only for football but for normal life until he is taken care of.

Hope is a weird drug. But its effects are wearing off and I suspect I'm not the only one. And I was also a NFL football fan. Now I only catch a glimpse of other games but can and will miss SNF, MNF, TNF, etc.

Yep. Being PATIENT doesn't mean being blind, but it's like the last game have made so many people forget how good Allen looked just one week prior and at many spots since he stepped on the field during preseason. And anyway, he's the QB we got, chill out people and support him! One game doesn't make or break a career

I fully agree with that first quote. But the the 2nd is a real consideration. Losing is one thing. Getting blow out too often is quite another, especially being a defensive minded, fairly conservative coach! Otherwise, McD was a good part of ending the drought, next year he and Beane can made quite the impact and make their bed, for their and the team's benefits or downfall. Fans are sooooooooo impatient. Unless this season is blowout galore, they are sure to be back in 2019

Well that's the (legit) gripe most fans have with Star, and as you point out, Clay. The superstar pay with OK performances. If they had average NFL wages nobody would pay much attention. It's more a criticism of the management than of the players. And that makes us wary about the upcoming seasons with lots of cap space: will the Bills's Brass make the right choices? And for those who to tank the season, sure higher draft dicks are good, but so is being an attractive team for free agents to sign here without having to offer the moon!

It's sad, very sad, that I agree with your post (doh!). Game 3 was great ALSO for Allen's flashes, the fumbles, etc. Not simply for the W. This one was more on the line of "why do I put my precious time on this Earth watching this... and posting on a board after"

We did notice Ted Washington playing, a lot, and Dareus as well when he decided to put some effort. I don't notice Star so far in 4 games. Good DL, simply not worth that much money and cap space. He is paid superstar level money.

Good! It was sooooo evident. IDK why either. Of course you don't repeat exactly what you did in game 3 in game 4, but it's like none of the game plan after the first few drives was tailored to what could work for the Bills O. Sure the first few drives didn't pan out but stick to the plan a little longer! By changing so drastically, the Offense cannot have an "identity". IDK about Ivory as a receiver, but we know McCoy is pretty good and I'd venture to say the TE are better than the WR group. A purely "vertical" route tree doesn't work as the main one for these players! Help Allen a bit!

I agree. But it was his first time being like that, and you could sense he still had that fire. He still believed till late in the game, and then you could feel he wanted to avoid the shutout. So yes he was rattled but not mentally defeated. I like that.
