It's like people forget about Brady and all the superstars that were late drafts or simply undrafted or taken after busts, and all the numerous high pick busts. As if the draft was a magical process. Don't get me wrong: I still can't wait for Allen to be in there! If he doesn't start this year, it means Nate is having one hell of a season and that'll be a great "problem" to have. Otherwise, yeah, I do expect to see Josh sooner than later. And he'd excite me more as a fan, way more. But I'll trust the coaches, and support a guy that has refused to crumble after an horrendous first outing.

At the end of the day....this is our team
Jerome007 replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dead cap space is horrendous but mostly on the past regime. Hopefully it quickly corrects itself by the next year or 2020 Difference between 10-6 and 5-11 is a few plays, injuries, etc. So both are within the realm of very probable. Sobering fact: only 4 teams out of 12 repeated making the playoffs last year... That's also why Allen pumped us as he brings HOPE. A good QB makes everyone Billeive and play better. But let's not burn the young guy for a 17 years of drought that hapened before him even if he wears #17 -
AJ gone and no vet QB, are your expectations lower?
Jerome007 replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They still need 3. Final opinion on this trade depends on who they sign and for how much - most likely one that was just cut Edit: of course the FINAL final opinion depends on the pick ha ha. But for this year, IMO you can't go with just 2 rookies -
Yes indeed. Besides the 0-16 teams, all teams have beat another, including the bottom feeders. There is always a chance on any given Sunday. I hate the thought process of giving up a game as a loss before it even happened! How many times I've seen people on here count the two games against NE as losses. Sure the odds are greater of that happening than a win, but no one should give up without a fight! That's why they play the game. 0-4 is probable this year yes, but 2-2 or 3-1 or even (gulp) 4-0 is possible! Likely? Nope. But come on.

Our OL sucks. No getting around that. But we saw very little sweeps, no rolling out of the pocket that I recall, less runs and a lot more passes that we can expect, no max protection plays with only one or 2 receiver going deep, etc. It was preseason and they wanted to evaluate players, not schemes. So it was the right way to do it. Let's just hope that NOW Daboll and McD will use plays adapted to the talent they have. And yes, some max protection plays with Josh's cannon arm can make one dream...
-
Ha ha indeed. It's the way he will play that will make people like or boo him. Few people seem to give the Bills any chance to win this season so in that sense Allen could learn with less stress (other that getting killed by a porous OLine...) I repeat that whatever decision McD takes I support. It doesn't mean he has a free pass for how he handles it after, but seriously, who can say for sure who should be the starting QB for game 1? Pros and cons abound. If he does chose McCarron, THEN he will have more justification to do though!
-
I agree that while Nate does NOT have a stong arm, his near picks have been because he was late. Anyway, take that pass away from him please LOL As otherwise, he's been money. I wanted Josh in there right away. I didn't change my mind because of game 3. Just because if Nate falters and Josh comes in it's good. If Allen falters, then what? If Nate performs superbly well, then it's a great problem to have! So I'd now side with start NP but with a short leash. But I'll support the decision whatever it may be, as there is no clear cut right one! People will blame McD if they lose (and pretend they knew better) but let him do it as he wants it.

Peterman/Allen next Flutie/Johnson... hoping I am wrong
Jerome007 replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am a Bills fan first. I was siding with Flutie big time as I really did think he brought them the best chances to win, had the "it" factor in spades, leadership, sensed the pressure super well, scrambled for 1st downs, etc. Johnson was a physical prototype for QB without delevering the goods except from time to time. But his "glimpses of greatness" didn't erase all his "deer in the headlight" moments... and can't compare to the glimpses we've seen from Allen! Josh seems more poised in and out of the field, have more leadership ability, and well, way more physical ability too. It remains to be seen in real games with more complex defensive schemes how he reacts, reads, adjusts, etc. but so fat so good. I'm excited with Allen, that he might be a "franchise QB". I never got that from Johnson. And then we had the FLUTIE CURSE that it took 17 years to get rid of, with #17 arriving now to take over:) -
I didn't see the game and reading this thread, I doubt I will! Wow. As for AJ, what's the salary cap if he stays vs if he leaves, especially as it applies to this year? If the difference is small, keep him anyway. The Bills need 3 QB. If another QB can be had for the dead cap hit, well, cut him. He still will have made 2M, or even 4,1M? He can take some comfort in that. I know I could

Looks like AJM might play the whole game?
Jerome007 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have it at 9 AM. My TV guide might be off. Is there ALSO a place to see the games 3-5 hours+/day after? I can't record streams... And yes ALL QBs and young guys need some added reps IMO. Of course injuries always scare everyone, including coaches -
Jalen Ramsey: Gronk is overrated
Jerome007 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha ha He's so bad that on a Bills board we are basically stating he is a major d-bag for criticizing a Cheatriots player! That's how bad he is Gronk is injury prone but the best tight end in the league. Or in any Top 3. Ramsey's strategy is working though. I didn't know who he was before he mouthed off. I learned on here he might be one of the best at his position but I had no clue to who he was before. -
Sure Dak and Elliot are good, but that OL was as good as they come. I still recall watching a game where every run they pushed the pile at will, at will, chunk of 5-10 yards down the middle on almost every play, yet Dallas still threw some passes and had to punt. Badly coached. Wasn't it their star LT that got injured and suddenly Dak looked normal? With their center gone, who knows what will happen to them this year.
-
Indeed. Still big question marks on the OL according to all the shuffling they did last game, and of course the QB position! Anyway, let's say the Bills brass have decided on who is QB #1, none of the three has enough experience to simply sit out the whole game. Injuries are always a big concern, but all the young players will benefit from added play time.
-
I am a huge fan of his football skills, and love that first GIF. I still can't understand why the Bills brass asked him, of all the players, to take a paycut! He was MONEY opening holes for Shady. And I am one that thinks football gave him a purpose and a surrounding that was very beneficial to his mental health. Except of course for the head trauma, as CTE *might* be the reason or one of the reasons behind his erratic behavior. Sad to say, but he's too far gone now, and while football could be beneficial to him, too late now and he needs help for sure.
-
Is there also a place to see the game hours later or the next day?
-
Safe to say, any sane person that is a Bills fan, Bills as in the TEAM, will agree with whatever the coaching staff decides, as there are really no clear cut decisions here. All have pros and cons whatever way they go! Impossible to predict the outcome, whoever is named the starting QB. Unless Nate/AJ is the starter and keeps on winning, we will see Allen this year if not on game 1.
-
I laughed when the Bengal player was pushed into his teammate, but I clearly saw the penalty too. I wouldn't have laughed in the regular season.

8-26: Bills' Beat Podcast with Buscaglia and Fairburn
Jerome007 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get you don't pay a #3 guy 10 millions. And if a trade offer is good, take it. But you'd go with only 2 QBs with an OL that enhances the chance of them getting hurt? You need a 3rd QB for sure. -
O Line Troubles Start With It's Coach !!
Jerome007 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's too late and he has gone crazy, but damn do we miss Incognito or what! To me he was THE key in opening so many critical and long plays for Shady. It's too late but why did the Bills wanted him, from all the players on the roster, to take a paycut? I still don't get it! -
That is 100% true. So long term, think of Allen first if you feel he can be a "franchise QB". But what about winning now? What about the other players? Coaches should base their decision around that. If voted start him, but I'd fine with Nate starting, for the reasons of flexibility. And... what about AJ? Odd man out paid 5M a year?

[Vague Title] The Sky Is Not Falling
Jerome007 replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Defense was vanilla, but in the offense, I sure hope they are intelligent enough to add more sweeps, reverses, (we saw one of each with Allen), rolling out the pocket if Allen is the QB as he is mobile, really short passes like Daboll did with the Cheatriots, in other words, anything to slow the pass rush and help that struggling OL. And what we didn't see, a few max protection plays with Benjamin and Coleman running deep to make use of Allen's cannon arm. Shady will add a boost but Murphy and Ivory were good enough that the run was there just enough to slow the pass rushers.... to no avail. But of course McCoy will add quite a dimension to the offense. On defense White was a step behind way too often. Edwards was much better though. Yes it is vanilla, but you expect the DL with the super high paid Star to do much better... -
White had very bad game today. Hopefully it was a glitch and not a sign of things to come

[Name Only Title] Charles Clay
Jerome007 replied to baskingridgebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget the Bills play the Dolphins twice a year so we can expect 2 great games out of him... -
Run defense has looked weak. Both lines - OL & DL - have. I almost had forgotten about that magical signing. With the amount of money he got it'd better show come game #1. He better take on as many blockers as he takes space on the salary cap.

Please name Josh Allen the starter
Jerome007 replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My take too. I still hope he's the starter but that game gave McD the munition to say otherwise to his players if that's his plan, which we just don't know. I just don't see how can AJ outbid Peterman since Nate supposedly outperformed him all camp long. Ha ha. Spot on as well
