Josh McDaniels Withdraws from Colts' HC Job
Jerome007 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha ha. Brutal! As for this mess... was the contract signed or not? I mean, you just "can't change your mind" if you signed it! Probably not I suppose as the Cheats were still playing? -
How much leverage did Belichick lose tonight?
Jerome007 replied to RalphWilson'sNewWar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha ha. You guys are pathetic at times. Maybe those media **** rumors are true, but most likely, just over emphasized. I hope I'm not alone to wish the Bills beat the Hoodie-Brady combo while they are still strong, and not because Father Time or another outside reason takes them down. THAT will happen for sure. The best revenge is still to best them. I was one that was thrilled when Clown Rex wanted Brady for that 2nd game a few years back... So OK, he got his wish and it turned out real bad ha ha, but I prefer that attitude to just waiting that the beatings stop because of XYZ! -
I think the point the coach is making is that being aggressive AND innovative, putting new wrinkles in the mix, keeps the players focused in practices and over the season, which adds over time. The difference between 8-8 and 10-6 is a few plays here and there. So everything to get your players to be more driven, more accountable, by themselves, out of their own will, sure makes a difference over the season. Not to mention it often makes strategic sense to go for it at times!

Superbowl Takeaways: How to win in today's NFL
Jerome007 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh come on. You play to your strengths, period. The saying for years has been "defense wins championships". Now because of yesterday it's all about offense? OF COURSE HAVING A SUPERSTAR QB HELPS WIN SUPERBOWLS!!!! It was the same in the most run first/strong defense oriented years. But teams have proven there are different ways to win in the NFL. Credit an overall well designed rule book, even if it has become a more pass happy league. If you happen to not have that elusive superstar QB, you have to find other ways. Jaguars almost beat the Pats, and the Bills almost beat the Jags... both with no pass offense to mention! A team doesn't get an elite QB just because it makes sense! All teams are looking for one. They are a rare breed. -
Can someone fill me in on why Foles was benched/traded after his amazing season in Phily as the starter? His stats, espcially the TD/int ratios were among the top QBs yet he is seen as a mere backup.

Hate to say it...Tyrod will be back
Jerome007 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keeping TT is not exactly a dream come true ha ha. But I've said all along you don't can the guy unless you have someone to replace him! And many QBs have been benched and kept on playing and made money... Alex Smith being the most recent and probably best example. As if Tyrod would spit on a 18M payday to play for the Bills in 2018! With so limited a choice on the market, let's hope the draft picks solve this! Recall Brady was the 199th pick that year... -
Have you ever been less excited for a SB?
Jerome007 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same here. I'll be watching, but I don't care at all. First year I can recall feeling that way. Why, it's hard to say. I mean, the Patriots have been a staple at the SB! But come on at this being a predetermined scripted game! Sure I too feel the Cheatriots buy off some refs and have benefited from weird calls and overall favoritism, but the Eagles winning, just like when the Giants spoiled the perfect season, is much better for the NFL. I'm sensing a lot of people at large are uninterested because the Patriots have gone "from great to greedy" by going for a 6th one. Weird but most likely accurate. And the allure of the commercials has lost a lot of its glitter with the web and all. -
Eric Wood “retirement” press conference
Jerome007 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't get why so many people argue. Most likely, both Wood and the Bills brass reacted emotionally to the news, understandably so, and all called up and organised the press conference, with many ex-teammates showing up. Then the business side came into play and it all became awkward, and it was too ate to cancel, that' s all. It's not classless or petty by Woods to make sure he makes all his money, nor by the Bills to save cap space and money! It's just business. As if the remaining players would resent it and all that crap. That depends on HOW it is handled, not that it is handled, which is totally normal. -
Congrats officials on another Super Bowl berth.....
Jerome007 replied to cba fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep except for the hit on Gronk. Come on now LOL -

Let's face it: we are super biased ha ha. Still, I feel the refs are paid or something, to call OR NOT CALL penalties, mostly during the first quarters, and not at critically important times. It most certainly affects the game score in the end but never too obvious. The Pats* really seem favored. -
The MMQB: Dareus Says Marrone is a Changed Man

One of those games you wished the two teams would lose... -
I've lost all of my Saint Doug hate...
Jerome007 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not me. BUT, he did go for 4th downs a few times as we've seen, and mostly, how refreshing is it to hear "I like it when my mobile inaccurate QB runs" instead of the "let's try to make him a pocket passer" mantra. He said many times this year too, not just recently. -
Nick Foles, Blake Bortles, Case Keenum
Jerome007 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Besides Brady, that's not a stellar list indeed. Hell, Bortles is very weak. Yet he sure did the job today! I was on board the TT wagon but he lost me early this year. Yet I'm STILL of the opinion that while the Bills brass should do their hardest to replace him, you do NOT can him until you find that replacement! And for all his faults he's still better than Bortles and look what that dude did today! -

Am I the only puzzled with how unimaginative and all some OC are, either as planners or at play calling? I mean, they did reach that level in the NFL! Lynn was much better at play calling yet Roman had made most of the designs. That was a damn good combo!
-
In some games here and there the schemes were pretty good. In others, really vanilla. And as mentioned, didn't seem to always fit the players, which what matters most IMO. And the reason I don't think he's good is what happened the last game, which happened quite often this year. In the first half the Bills offense really moved the ball well, the designs played to the strength of the team and on and on. In the 2nd half, the Jags seem to guess every play. Sure THEY made halftime adjustments, but that's a given! As an OC you have to make some too! Not having the same patterns for the whole game come week 18!

How difficult will it be to get back in 2018?
Jerome007 replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It'll be very hard. A lot depends on the draft picks and trades/signings, on how Father Time affects some of the core group, etc. A LOT of unknowns going into year. Nobody knows with any certainty. Last year the Bills were a few plays from being playoff bound with Rex Ryan! Some made field goals and tackles, coach challenges, and boom. An really, many years of that drought could have been playoff years if not for a few plays. The difference between winning and losing is often so thin that I do laugh at the "expert predictions". Sure none expect the Browns to be 12-4 next year or the Patriots to go 3-13. But otherwise yes 6-10 or 10-6 can be had by a few select plays. I had posted this paragraph before, and I reposted it, as NFL fans in general need a slap in the face sometimes. Only 4 of last year's 12 playoff teams rejoined the dance this year. A lot of teams can go from 6-10 to 10-6, or 15-1 to 6-10... I'm soooooooo glad the drought is over but now prepare for the "longest time without a playoff win" media rambling. -
You can always do worse! Believe me, I want them gone too. But that is because the Bills found better people at their position. So far Tyrod has beat all other QBs on the roster in the last 3 years. Do I think it's about damn time they found a better QB? Hell yes. But I don't want him to be canned if there is no one to replace him yet! As for Dennison, nope. I want him gone, period LOL
-
Come on. He HAD to try something in these circumstances. In a way, I'm glad he was willing to risk an INT to try win the game. Of course the result was bad, and season ending, but Tyrod had overthrown so many opened receivers today (and all year) to avoid an INT on his record that I'm glad NP tried.
-
He's a classy guy, and I was one of his stout supporters... until this year. Now I'm an addition to the "he's a great backup QB" wagon. But it'd still keep him unless they sign someone better, simple as that! They should, and I hope they do, but you don't just can a player at any position unless you can replace him.
-
Yes. good points. That pass play on 1st and goal at the 1, AND the two pass plays at the end of the 1st half were really a case of outsmarting yourself. Damn. It cost the game. Boomer Esiason, while clearly indicating Taylor decided the pass at the goal line, clearly blamed the coaches for allowing TT to have the run/pass option in the first place. Also, was it just me that screamed at the Bills to get a play off quickly before the challenge flag could be thrown by Marrone.. to no avail? McD is a first year coach, and he has made a lot of these time managament errors all year. Which is not surprising for a rookie, but it is from a "process" cerebral coach. That and many missed throws by Tyrod. He's so cautious he prefers to overthrow players instead of risking the INT. Am I hallucinating or in his first year for the Bills he had a great deep ball and wasn't afraid to throw it? And to add insult to injury Bortles clearly outplayed Tyrod in the run game.

How much better has Tyrod made our OL look?
Jerome007 replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He avoids some sure sacks with quite spectacular elusiveness, and creates some by holding the ball too long, but mostly by never seemingly using audibles at the line. A toss up overall... but I sure wished he'd audible, made more pre-snap reads.
