  1. Imagine you were born anywhere else but Buffalo and how would you sequence it? Face it the Bills are more known for Wide Right and Music City Miracle than the 1960's titles. Hell there are people out there that think No Goal also applies to the Bills. Just love your team and when they win the media will flock to the Bills like moths to a flame
  2. Hotel@TheLafayette Charlie the Butcher is a good choice Personally I get Italian when back in Buffalo
  3. Lawson has been fat and out of shape since his first snap. If he can be a 10 sack guy from the DE position this year the entire defense will benefit. Everyone knows the most proven strategy to stop the modern QB is pressure rushing only 4 guys. Star won't be that guy but Phillips and Williams should provide decent pressure up the middle and Hughes still is a force. Miller back at RG will be a plus. Peterman is what he is. He has a JV arm and that will always hold him back. As much as I like Allen, Edmunds will be the key addition for 2017. If this kid can dominate and they improve the pass rush this defense can be special.
  4. He had issues while playing. Unless he had CTE in the womb, this guy is just an !@#$
  5. Pryor looked quite good with Cleveland. Fell off the rails last year. I would have tried to get him on a one year deal. KB looks like the best in AFCE. Still think Watkins is a better WR and they should have just kept him. But KB should be good this year. If Zay can catch the dam ball the WR position may be adequate.
  6. If healthy, Glenn is a top 10 OT. That probably lands him between 100-150. Watkins is a great unknown. He looked physically dominant at times with the Bills. Size and speed. Dam injuries. If not for the foot, he is probably a top 4 WR and his option is picked up for this year. Dareus. Who the hell knows. Top 50 talent. Bottom 50 effort. Sad. He played better than this board thought but not even close to the contract he signed. My hunch is he has 2 more great years in him playing on one year deals.
  7. The same guys that tell us Trust the Process signed and kept playing Tolbert. Ivory was done two years ago. 3.4 YPA last year. Any street FA UDFA can get you 3.4 YPA. Terrible signing. He won't make the team if it is an honest competition. My hunch is Shady will not dress for any pre-season game. Ivory will look terrible in the first two games and will be let go.
  8. Drive stopping tackle made by Darryl Talley in SBXXV. Oh wait...
  9. Not sure about the QBR correlation. Agree every stat needs context. Jim Kelly is a good counter example arguing in favor of 300 yard games as a good measure for success. He was 20-9 in games he passed for 300 yards. A 0.68 win percentage which compares favorably to his career win percentage of 0.621. FYI Brady's career win % is 0.774 and Montana's is 0.711. As for TT vs Kelly. Take the stats for what they are worth but TT compares favorably to Kelly in QB rating (92.5 to 84.4), comp % (62.6 to 60.1) and INT % (1.3 to 3.7) while Kelly has a higher TD % (5.0 to 4.1). YPA is nearly identical with Kelly at 7.4 and TT 7.2. I liked TT but I think these stats reflect more about the rules of the NFL in the late 80's-90's as compared to current. While defenses are much more sophisticated and the pre-snap demands of the QB are far greater than 1990, the rules and style of play make it easier to complete a high percentage of safe passes.
  10. Ok let's bury this 300 yard game non-sense for good. TD INT TD/INT ratio Yards/attempt Comp % All five of the above are more important individual stats than # of 300 yard games. Overall passer rating is of course a better metric than any individual stat. You can also consider QBR as a better metric than yards/game as well as it takes into account successful pass or rush plays by the QB. As you can see below, passing yards has little to no impact on wins. Throwing TD's and not throwing INT's is the key to winning along with an efficient passing game. The table below measures the correlation coefficient of certain statistics with wins. The data consists of all quarterbacks who started at least 14 games in a season from 1990 to 2011: Category Correlation ANY/A1 0.55 Passer Rating 0.51 NY/A2 0.50 Touchdown/Attempt 0.44 Yards/Att 0.43 Comp % 0.32 Interceptions/Att -0.31 Sack Rate -0.28 Passing Yards 0.16 Attempts -0.14 As you can see, passer rating is indeed correlated with wins; a correlation coefficient of 0.51 indicates a moderately strong relationship; the two variables (passer rating and wins) are clearly correlated to some degree. Interception rate is also correlated with wins; there is a ‘-‘ sign next to the correlation coefficient because of the negative relationship, but that says nothing about the strength of the relationship. As we would suspect, as interception rate increases, wins decrease. On the other hand, passing yards bears almost no relationships with wins — this is exactly what Alex Smith was talking about last month: http://www.footballperspective.com/correlating-passing-stats-with-wins/
  11. Great defenses rush the passer and create turnovers. Good to Very good defenses give up yards and first downs but don't surrender big plays, keep the points against low, and are opportunistic on defense. Bad defenses can't stop the run, generate little to no pass rush, and have coverage breakdowns. This defense can be very good if the secondary stays healthy. To become great they need Star and Kyle to push the pocket back. In addition, they will need Hughes to be a bit more dominant and either a slimmed down Lawson or Murphy to generate pressure from the other side. I would leave Hughes at DE most of the time but I would like to see some packages with Washington at DE and Hughes/Edmunds at LB in the nickel. I think Murphy has a better chance of being a complete bust than he does of being a double digit sack guy. PED guy coming off major injury. Just don't see why this board is so excited about him. I'm more excited to see Lawson playing at a lower weight. He has been fat and out of shape since the first game he played. Playing closer to his college weight hopefully will allow him to get back some of his burst in the pass rush. If not perhaps the best we can hope is he holds up well against the run as he did last year.
  12. That was last season. They are working on it this summer to fix the issue.
  13. Are single game tix available for Lambeau yet?
  14. I will be going to Lambeau. It is just a question of if one or both of my boys join me.
  15. TE, two OL, a KB extension, and an OLB would be nice. Then the draft would be BPA with RB, WR, and DL the top priorities Who would they sign? KB I hope. Doubt they bring back Clay and his chronic knee. They let all the recent high draft picks go already. Poyer and Hyde are still under contract. Perhaps Vontae Davis if he can stay healthy.
  16. Tyrod Taylor Drew Bledsoe Ryan Fitzpatrick EJ Manuel Rob Johnson Trent Edwards Alex Van Pelt JP Losman Kyle Orton Kelly Holcomb
  17. Success: Allen wins the job in camp. AJ looks solid in Preseason. Bills trade AJ for a 2nd round pick in off-season. Bills are in playoff contention after Thanksgiving.
  18. I agree. Rex could have been the best if he had just kept Schwartz. Couldn't check his dumb ego at the door.
  19. Lorax had three sacks last year and was basically non-existent on defense for most of the year. He was a great story in 2016. He dropped off terribly in 2017. The kids will play special teams and he will retire the second week of training camp. Hope I'm wrong and he can bounce back with 8-10 sacks but I think that is very unlikely.
  20. I like Mat Boesen to make the team as a hybrid DE/OLB pass rusher. That said I am also on record as saying Lorax will not make the final cut. This team has a stunning lack of talent in the pass rush. If it comes down to numbers I think they will keep an extra pass rusher and PS a DB or two. I think Ike Boetgger, OT Iowa coming off Achilles will make the PS and after a year will challenge for the swing tackle spot.
  21. Your premise is that there are a number of credible back-ups that can be simply put in the starting line-up. That is just not the case almost anywhere in the NFL. What was the back-up plan for Manning, Luck, Rodgers, and now Brady? How about for Odell Beckham, AJ Green, or Julio Jones. There just aren't that many great players in the NFL and there are not enough roster spots/cap space to keep veteran back-ups. The truth is next man up is near total BS. For every Dawkins or Groy, that can step in and do a good job, there are 10 or 15 other positions that simply have no good option. The concern for lack of depth should be very real. The issue is there is nothing they nor any other team can do about it. All they can do is hope for the best, hope injuries don;t decimate one position group, and key players miss minimal time.
  22. Was Haslett really top 53 for most? He like Conlan flashed early and then faded quickly. If Cowart had stayed healthy.....
  23. How is Aaron Schobel not on most all 53? Second all-time in sacks for Bills. I would have Smith, M. Williams, and Schobel as my top 3 DE. I would put Peters in at OT. I don't care how short of a Bills career he had here. Wolford and Peters are the most talented OT this team has ever had. Add Rueben Brown over Ritcher Brown and Schobel are my top two most underrated Bills Moorman over McGuire A bit of a cheat to put Gilchrist in as a FB but a nice way to get 5 worthy RB on the list What a sad history of TE play in Buffalo Is it too soon to put Micah Hyde in the conversation? Kelso was so unathletic. Give Hyde two more seasons playing at the level he did last year and he will be the best safety the Bills ever had. Kyle is a great story. He has been on some of the worst run stopping defenses of all-time. He may be a top 50 interior pass rusher. When playing in the 3-4 he is just not good. As a 3 technique DT he is very very good. Smerlas, Pat Williams, Ted Washington, and Sestak were all better in their eras.
  24. No way Bennett is 22. He was very good but I think Brandt somehow thinks he made it into HOF. He did not. I forgot how good Demarcus Ware was. I thought he was more DE than LB. But after reading about him he was really dominant at OLB for Dallas.
  25. Raise ticket prices. Sell PSLs. Cut stadium size to 62,000 Still will need a ton of money in tax revenue. Put that all in a ballot and let Erie, Niagara, and surrounding counties vote on it. If they want to pay them you get a new stadium. If not there are other cities that will pay.
