  1. A bag of donuts, a hot pretzel and a hot dog? It'll never work. The other team will want us to throw in a 4th round draft pick and we don't own on in the upcoming draft.
  2. I think he can probably win with more support around him, but he's nothing special.
  3. Head coach of the Patriots. It's in Bill Belichick's will.
  4. Prognosticating player's futures based on comparison with former players that had similar body types is a fallacy. Boston and Metcalf are both big bodied receivers who were jacked and had speed to burn. That's where the comparison ended. Metcalf didn't run much of a route tree at Mississippi, because they didn't need him to, but he was always reported to be a great kid who worked hard and wanted to excel. I don't recall all the details about Boston, but I'm guessing those were areas where he didn't measure up.
  5. It's possible he has agreed to a deal, but is in the COVID-19 protocol. As soon as he gets through that the Bills announce the signing. Maybe.
  6. If Buffalo can go 4-4, I'll be pretty happy. I think the floor is 2-6, so I guess I'll split the difference at 3-5. Buffalo will beat the Chargers, Cardinals and Dolphins. They'll have to beat New England in an away game to hit the high end of the range.
  7. Zimmer is way more athletic than a typical backup. He's very strong and he can run. As long as he has those qualities, he has some upside to try and exploit. He came from a small college, so I can understand why his NFL career hasn't gotten untracked. I'm not expecting that he's going to light the D-line on fire, and he may never be a starter, but just maybe he'll make it worthwhile for the Bills to keep him on the roster.
  8. Buffalo may not have an easy game left on the schedule with Miami getting better. Maybe Denver, but that is an away game, which automatically makes it a bit harder. They definitely have a gauntlet they need to run, and they do need to get much better if they want to get through it with more than a couple wins.
  9. Miami is playing with a lot of heart, but the main reason for the win yesterday was turnovers. The Rams had close to 500 yards of offense, three times what Miami could generate. Flores is one of the better head coaches from the Belichick coaching tree, but I'm fine with McDermott.
  10. With the next opponent being Seattle, and high flying QB Russell Wilson, and pleasant weather conditions looking likely, Buffalo will likely shoot for a balanced attack. They'll try to run some to run clock and keep the ball away from Wilson, but I think they know they'll have to be able to get some chunk plays through the air too.
  11. That makes sense. I'm hoping that some of the Bills' success at running the ball yesterday was due to the Bills getting better at it, but the Patriot focus on stopping the passing game had to be a significant factor in it's success.
  12. I thought I saw a few times yesterday where there wasn't anyone there to make a tackle. So now we have two issues to solve.
  13. If Belichick remains at New England, he will at some point be likely to mount a successful rebuild. Beane needs to really work at solidifying the team and shoring up the weak spots this season has revealed if they hope to fend off Belichick's rebuild and hold on the the AFC East crown, and of course, move far into the playoffs and, hopefully, win a few Super Bowls.
  14. Yeah, Klein seems to be a significant liability. Hopefully, the new guy they just signed can pick up the defense quickly and will click in this scheme. At least he can run.
  15. A win is a win is a win. Yes, the Bills have to play a lot better. They are also pretty banged up still. Cody Ford is the guy I want to get healthy fast. I'm real tired of Brian Winters. Josh Norman will help too. The Bills aren't hurting at DB as much not, though they need Hyde back. Marlow didn't do too badly. He had a bunch of tackles and recovered Newton's fumble. I really don't know what the answer is in run defense with the current personnel. Can the play better, or do we need to find better players in the off season.
  16. He's listed as questionable, but they're saying he's out on the local TV sports segment on the news, so we'll see about tomorrow. After that, it doesn't matter too much. It does seem like New England is heading into a rebuilding period. Hopefully, Buffalo can get established as a solid or (dare I say it?) elite team before New England can rebuild and somehow find the next greatest QB of all time.
  17. Cornerback is in better shape than it's been for a while. Given the weather, Cam's struggles and the weakness of the Patriot receiver group, New England doesn't have much chance to mount an effective passing attack. That's good news. With the passing game It's going to get New England's weakness against Buffalo's strength. On the other side of the LOS it will be Buffalo's strength against New England's strength in the passing game. However, Gilmore is out, New England's secondary will not be at full strength, so if Josh Allen can throw in Sunday's wind at all, it could mean an advantage for Buffalo. The running game is much tougher to figure. New England has been great and they've been terrible running the ball. Buffalo has been generally mediocre running the ball except for Josh Allen, but they did show signs of life versus the Jets last week. On defense, New England hasn't been very good versus the run, and have been especially vulnerable on the edge. Buffalo has been erratic on defense versus the run. They've been terrible at times, and pretty good at times. I guess it depends on who shows up.
  18. He's big for a corner, and (not surprisingly) slow. Probably won't work out in man coverage, but supposedly he's smart and has some position flexibility between outside corner, slot corner, big nickel and safety. Mostly gonna be a depth guy. If you've got to start him for any length of time, you have a problem.
  19. It was a dumb move, not a dick move. You hide an injury in those circumstances because you convince yourself you can play through it and the team needs you. It's dumb because you're not qualified to self diagnose the seriousness of an injury.
  20. I don't think it is as simple as Simms makes it out to be. There have been some times when Buffalo stopped the run pretty effectively: versus Tennessee and Derek Henry and the second half against the Jets in last Sunday's game. There have also been games in which the Patriots didn't run all that effectively. I do agree that those are the two biggest questions Buffalo will have to answer on Sunday. I am concerned about the interior of Buffalo's offensive line with Cody Ford out. I'm hoping Feliciano will be ready to play and plays pretty well. The other guard is Brian Winter, who has not exactly been lights out this season, or Boettger, who has not yet shown he's anything but a backup. In defense, it does seem as if the way to go is to man up on the WRs and stack the box. It will also help a lot if Buffalo could jump out to a 2 or 3 TD lead. That would force New England to move away from a steady diet of running the ball.
  21. That was a pretty generic comment. Bick a Bills player and I can see him making the same comment about playing the Patriots.
  22. Great athlete with a disappointing pro career. Could be a good situation for him.
  23. Can we get some media guy to interview the officials and remind them that John Brown's alma mater is Pittsburg State?
  24. I expressed concern about the KC game when we were still thinking it might be on Thursday or Sunday. The Monday schedule still disadvantaged the Bills slightly, but it was one that could be overcome. The problems Buffalo had with the Titans were, I think, mainly in their own collective head. Psychologically, they just weren't ready for the game and Tennessee was chomping at the bit to make a statement. That's on the Bills. While the Titans had lots of time mentally to prepare for Buffalo (via Zoom) they had very little practice time.
  25. Mongo reminds me of an offensive line version of Fred Smerlas. That's generally a good thing. I wouldn't want to bring him with me as a guest to and opera though.
