  1. Buffalo played reasonably good run defense today. I think they may match up better versus speed at RB rather than power.
  2. Matt Milano can do a lot of things well. AJ Klein doesn't do as many things well. The Bills coaching staff finally figured that out and made adjustments that ask Klein to doo mostly the things he's good at. You can get good results when Klein is being disruptive in the backfield, but you don't want to give him a lot of responsibility in pass coverage. Milano was a safety before he was a linebacker, so he has a better handle on pass coverage.
  3. He is never going to be a bell cow back who gets 25 carries in a game. He works as a rotational guy, but I think there is room for Buffalo to keep looking for a guy who can strike fear into defenses. I'd love for the Bills to find the next Derrick Henry. Unfortunately, until proven otherwise, Derrick Henry appears to be one of a kind.
  4. I think that the Bills decided this week that they were going to run the ball even when they might have gotten more yards more easily by passing. If that is true, they did it believing they could beat the Chargers despite not scoring points the way they can. They expect there may be games to be played in weather that won't allow an effective passing offense. In essence they believed they could get a win while using the game to prepare for teams still on their schedule in less than ideal weather. At least that is what I'm hoping since that game was kind of an ugly thing to sit and watch.
  5. The 10 point loss for the Chargers actually ties for the biggest loss of the season for the Chargers. They lost to the Jaguars 39-29. The lost to the Chiefs and NO Saints by 3 points each. Fortunately the league does not award style points.
  6. Absolutely. The team will probably have to rent out a hotel and have meals brought in, all of which seems as if it elevates the risk of COVID-19 for the players and staff versus being able to stay at home.
  7. I didn't see that one coming. Commissioner Goodell is probably pulling his hair out over that one.
  8. My guess is we won't see Brown until next season. I think the Bills want to get him completely healed up. Kumerow is a completely different kind of receiver. It will be interesting to see if Daboll uses Kumerow, and if so, how.
  9. So, what does moving the Ravens versus Dallas to Monday have to do with that? BTY, The Ravens' Tuesday night opponent, the Steelers, will still have to play the following Sunday at 1 PM. The Steelers' opponent that weekend, the Washington Football Team, right now looks to be much tougher than the Ravens' opponent on Monday (the Dallas Cowboys).
  10. The league seems to be bending over backwards not to allow the Ravens to face too much of a disadvantage over the COVID thing.
  11. Smoke is missing another game due to an ankle injury. The pertinent question is, how bad is the ankle? If it is a week to week injury, the Bills might be better off to put him on IR and sign a rental like Stills. We're not in a position to answer that question, however.
  12. Whatever you do, Sean, just keep Winters on the bench. Hopefully Boettger and Feliciano can stay healthy through the remainder of the season.
  13. It indeed may be a thing, but there are other teams that thus far this season have handled playing defense much better than have the Bills. We'll see what the Bills can do down the stretch.
  14. The Chargers had two starters on defense sit out practice today (Melvin Ingram - DE and Casey Hayward - CB). That can't hurt Buffalo's passing game. Joey Bosa is formidable on the other end of the line But Buffalo's offensive line may be completely healthy. Cody Ford was limited in practice. I am hoping he'll be ready Sunday.
  15. Where oh where is Jimmy Spagnola? I so want the opportunity to pile on.
  16. For Wade to make the roster next season (for reasons already explained, this season is out) he has to demonstrate to McDermott and company that he can handle things like blocking/blitz pickup and all the less visible aspects of a running back's job. It's not enough to be a quick and instinctive runner and able to catch a few passes.
  17. I've been climbing in the standing. My 99 puts me just outside of the top 10.
  18. Cancer is no respecter of persons. Hopefully hospice care can keep him comfortable as he nears the end of his journey.
  19. I think Beane is better at drafting and roster building than any Bills GM since Bill Polian. He's not perfect, but I'm not going to complain. I agree on Newsome at Baltimore and whoever has been at Pittsburgh has done a nice job over the years. Bill Belichick is an interesting case in New England. He's missed a lot at the top of the draft, but he's been great at finding players who fit a niche in New England's system. He's also benefited over the years from top players giving a contract discount to the Patriots in exchanged for a presumed chance at winning a championship.
  20. My assumption is that Dane Jackson can still play for the Bills, but must be named to the active roster to do so, and can't be named as a game day elevation. Does that mean if he's put on the active roster, he can be sent to the PS again unless waived?
  21. Buffalo basically has everybody healthy at CB, and Worley is probably last on the "extended" depth chart, so I don't think there'[s any danger of seeing him on the field anytime soon.
  22. I understand that. Perhaps I should have qualified my post. I would be surprise if he is activated and makes a game day roster by the end of the season barring injury to a re ceiver ahead of him on the roster.
  23. I'll be a little surprised if he makes a game day roster. Between Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Davis, Roberts and McKenzie, who are you going to drop, if they are all healthy. Certainly nobody from the first four. Roberts has been too valuable as a return specialist, I would think. That leaves McKenzie. McKenzie is never going to be a starter in the league, but he has carved out a nice role for himself with the ability to get deep on occasion when defenses are focusing on other receivers, and more importantly giving Buffalo an outside run threat on gadget plays. Hodgins gives you something completely different, a big guy with a big catch radius with an unusual ability (for a big man) to create separation with a double move, and supposedly great hands. What does Daboll want in his offense?
  24. Presumably when the inflammation disappears the heart rhythm irregularities will resolve themselves. The question is, do the heart rhythm irregularities present a risk of death from ordinary (not football) activity in the meantime. If not, they'll just have him wait it out, maybe treating with medications if they can.
  25. At the time, it was OJ Simpson. Unfortunately he turned into something completely unlikeable. I guess I could go with Bob Chandler. He might be more like Cole Beasley than any other receiver in Bills history. He wasn't big, though bigger than Beasley. He wasn't fast. He just knew how to get open and caught everything.
