  1. Maybe. I don't know that it's inevitable. Some coordinators, I think, are what you might call "mad scientist" types. They are great with Xs and Os, but don't really have the charisma to forge a bunch of players into a team. Moreover, they know it, and don't really aspire to a position that takes them away from what they love - designing plays and strategizing, and instead taking the role of manager and motivator. I'm hoping Daboll is that kind of guy.
  2. I didn't mind the pass where the referee ruled it an interception. He threw a pass in the second tame where the window was just as tight. I think Diggs was the recipient. It turned into a big gain. Allen held on the the ball too long on at least a couple sacks. He's still young, but I can't give him the A+ because of that little bit of recklessness. I think an A or A- is fair.
  3. I can't imagine Brian Daboll is happy about having to show the rest of the league four different short yardage plays on one scoring attempt.
  4. This. Lacey may play some special teams, as I assume Delshawn Phillips did, and he's available for snaps on defense, but he's motly insurance in cas Milano and/or Edmunds can't go or are on a snap count. Phillips would have had that role if he were healthy. Lacey is pretty athletic. He just never was able to elevate his game enough to get named as a starter.
  5. That's what I get for commenting w/o reading through the whole thread.
  6. They have already started their run. . .in the Trevor Lawrence derby.
  7. Yeah. I can't believe he hasn't been asked about that old quote leading up to this game, but I haven't seen anything. Either he's not been asked or said nothing in response that anyone felt like quoting.
  8. This is kind of what I was thinking. When I watched the Kansas City game, I saw a lot of plays in which I thought Mahomes made either a bad choice or a bad throw. As far as I know, nobody has come to the conclusion Mahomes is anything less than a great QB.
  9. My first opinion of Josh Allen was that I thought he was intriguing with his incredible measurables. I didn't root for the Bills to pick him, but I didn't bemoan the pick when it happened. From that point on I hoped he would develop, and to my delight he has. I don't feel the necessity to eat crow, unlike my son who was pulling for Josh Rosen and was crushed when the Bills picked Allen. I haven't had the chance to talk with him after Allen tore things up against both the Jets and Dolphins.
  10. Yes, Beane and McDermott clearly had a strategy for developing Josh, and they stuck with it. Darnold has gone through head coach and OC switches, and the team has done little or nothing to surround him with support players who can help him either on the offensive line or at WR.
  11. I wouldn't even be surprised if Palmer said to the producers of OBL before he was interviewed on air, "Don't ask me about Sam Darnold and comparing him to Josh."
  12. I'm guessing that even though this is a serious occurrence, Tyrod will recover quickly.
  13. Maybe, though I did check out the site and he had a roster prediction for one NFL team . . . the Buffalo Bills.
  14. He would have been in the conversation of best running back ever if he'd had a longer career. No question about him being a legit hall of famer.
  15. It looks like the brainchild of one misguided fan.
  16. I think the Giants are fortunate he was available. No, he's nowhere near a Saquon Barkley, but there's a chance he's got something left in the tank.
  17. In the first game, the Jets had a strong run defense. It was a matter of hurting the Jets where they were more vulnerable. In the Miami game, the run game worked just fine, but Josh Allen was on fire. You can only run so many plays. The success of the passing game is going to force defensive coordinators to overplay the pass, and that will open up the run game even as it becomes a bit more difficult to pass. It's the way the league works. It's up to Daboll to anticipate the defenses Buffalo is going to face and game plan accordingly. Fortunately Daboll is a smart and creative guy.
  18. Maybe they should bemoan giving Cousins the combination to the bank safe.
  19. I expect nothing this year. He might get a few tackles late in the season, but he's going to be a part time player only IMO. A year in the strength and conditioning program will help him.
  20. Buffalo is using a heavy D-line rotation, essentially treating it as if they have 2 d-line platoons. Harrison is part of that rotation.
  21. Good for Peyton. He could say "certain teams in the Northeast not named Philadelphia, Buffalo or New York, but maybe that would be too obvious.
