  1. If I were to guess, I would say that Edmunds will play and Milano will sit. I also think the Bills might play Dodson at WLB. I don't think Buffalo would move Edmunds outside because Edmunds has grown comfortable at the MLB spot and anything else would be out of position for him now. He knows and makes all the calls and he's a leader. Dodson did well, but he wasn't perfect last week in the middle. He's not quite as fast as Edmunds, but he's no slouch. He's run 4.63 and he has plenty of quickness. Klein has more experience, but Dodson is much more athletic at WLB.
  2. From the outside looking in, I think Edmunds is closer than Milano, but that's only a guess. If Edmunds does play, I think Dodson can play outside.
  3. As of this moment, Knox is still listed on the 53 man roster and there is an article on the official web site stating Croom was released from the PS with no mention of elevating him to the 53 man roster. Becker is not listed on either the 53 man roster or the PS. I imagine Kroft will be targeted a couple times on Sunday and probably Gilliam. I think that unless Knox makes a quick recovery, Lee Smith will be active in his place. Gilliam is certainly an interesting player. He's really too short to be a typical tight end at at 6 feet even. Still, he's a fairly stout 244 lbs at that height, and pretty athletic. I don't think I'd plan on him being much of an inline blocker, but you could probably move him around a lot. The lack of height may make contested catches a bit more of a challenge, but he'll get open more than Lee Smith ever will.
  4. I nominate Adam Schein to be media representative of the Bills bandwagon
  5. I wonder about calling Miami a bottom feeder. Yes, they are 0-2 in 2020, but two games is an awfully small sample, especially when those two losses came against teams that most everybody thinks are very good. Add that to the fact that Miami finished strong last season with a roster that isn't as good as the one they have right now, and we might find that Miami will finish the season closer to the middle of the pack than the bottom. It's still early in any case. Buffalo's next 4 opponents are a combined 8-0. Their record after 6 weeks of the season will tell us a lot.
  6. I was among those who were concerned that the lack of a preseason and strict limits on contact work in training camp might result in more injuries in the the early part of the season than is typical. The good news is that after another week or so the frequency of injury should trend toward the average, at least it will if I'm right.
  7. Maybe, but that didn't happen until Buffalo had a laps in intensity that allowed Miami to come back and take the lead. It was the sec ond week in a row that the Bills had that lapse of intensity going into the the half and lasted through most of the third quarter.
  8. The Rams game is at home. That helps. It's as hard for West Coast teams to travel cross country than it is for teams in the east to travel west, but then The Raiders game is in Las Vegas. The good news is that game will be in air conditioned comfort.
  9. That's the way it looks. Everything else looked to be minor stuff that won't show up on injury reports. Bumps and bruises.
  10. One thing I haven't seen out of Buffalo so far is a killer instinct. The closeness of the Miami game certainly was due in part to the injuries Buffalo had to their linebacking group. Had Edmunds and Milano been healthy, maybe we would have seen the killer instinct, but it sure looks like Buffalo is letting up in intensity when they have a comfortable lead, and we're also seeing what happens when a team does let up. I don't know that we're going to see any blowouts over the next few gams as Buffalo has a tough stretch coming up, but the next time Buffalo plays a supposedly bad team, I want to see them step on their neck and laugh (figuratively speaking of course). By letting bad teams stay close you keep alive the chance they come back and win.
  11. It's early in the season to think about key games, but for a non conference contest, next Sunday versus the Rams looks pretty important. So far Buffalo has beaten two teams they should beat. With the Pills sporting a pretty lofty power ranking, some might categorize the Rams game that way too, but the Rams feature a tough defense and a resurgent Jared Goff (after a so-so 2019 season). The good thing about the game is that Buffalo is home and the Rams have to travel cross country. A win keeps Buffalo in control with New England likely to beat the Raiders at home. The Bills are about to embark on a challenging stretch starting with the Rams game. They have to travel to Las Vegas and Tennessee the following two weeks, and then have the Chiefs at home. If they can get through that stretch in good fashion, it will go a long way to securing the division title. This season across the league, injuries are turning into a major story. Buffalo survived the decimation of their linebacking group in the Jets game and did enough defensively to hole on to a win. Hopefully, the linebackers will all be healthy for the Rams game, and Buffalo can stay relatively healthy going forward. The 49ers were thought to have a good chance to win their division before the season started, but they look like a mash unit after just two games.
  12. He'll never give up his cushy analyst gig, but I think Tony Romo could be an outstanding offensive coordinator and QB coach.
  13. Yeah, it was an early whistle, but it worked out to Buffalo's benefit.
  14. Actually, that's what I meant, but he probably leads in total yards too.
  15. At the moment, Josh leads the league in total yards.
  16. Obviously, the offense was explosive. The running game could stand to improve, but you can't ask anything more of Josh Allen and the receivers than they're putting out now. The defense had some issues today. I think the fact that Edmunds and Milano were missing probably hurt them both in run defense and in passes targeting the tight end. That's what I hope at least. Also Fitzpatrick has always been a streaky QB and he can get hot. The thing is, the Rams will come to Buffalo with an explosive offense next weekend. Hopefully Edmunds and Milano will be back, but they do need to tighten things up a lot.
  17. Obviously, Brandon Beane was looking at more than measurables. The Bills had interviewed Allen and knew what kind of character he had. I'm sure there were multiple factors that went into selecting him as highly as they did, even trading up to do so. I still think it was a gamble for the reasons I stated, but it turned out to be a very smart gamble in retrospect.
  18. Picking Josh in the draft where he was picked was a big time gamble. Allen had measurables any NFL coach would die for, but he had a background that declared he would need significant time to develop, and the more time it takes for development, the greater the odds that it never happens. This is not a criticism of Brandon Beane. There are times when an NFL GM has to make a gamble if he wants to give his team a chance for greatness. The two seasons it took for Josh Allen to develop (actually less than that because part of that time he didn't start) was less than some thought it might take. Now, Allen has arrived, Beane looks like a genius and we have entered what could be a new golden age for the Bills!
  19. I'd take Mahomes over Wilson, but I wouldn't mind Wilson as my QB.
  20. I don't think anyone would disagree that the NFL hates controversy, but all too often their response to potential controversy is denial.
  21. The good news is it's only an "academic" discussion since the miss had no bearing on the outcome of the game. The other side of it is the league has the available technology and the resources to come up with video solutions that make it more certain that in the future they are making the right call. Some day there will be a controversial call on a similar kick that does affect the outcome of the game.
  22. "I don't know why I left New England. At least Bill and I had the same philosophy. 'If you aren't cheatin', you ain't tryin'."
  23. I expect Buffalo to activate Andre Smith and Deon Lacey from the PS. They'll probably have even more nickel packages than usual.
