  2. I did not think that his style of play and coming from Louisville would translate well to NFL, but (Probably been mentioned in some of the other replies) a) he has very good talent (and coaching) around him b) my big concern is if he can continue to take the pounding (although he does seem to be able to avoid taking the big hits) . Look at how Cam Newton's body seems to have fallen apart and he is much bigger and stronger than Jackson
  3. Another reason that passing yardage is way up over the "old" days!
  4. Two things that need to be kept in mind when reviewing these "statistics" 1. Quality of opposition - scoring 21 points against NE is much better than 21 against the Bengals 2. The points per game can get skewed over 1 or 2 blow out wins (or losses). e.g. The Ravens' 59 points against the Dolphins can make up for a few below average scoring games The more important measure is consistency (i.e. Standard Deviation) in the points (scored or allowed). As an extreme case, a team that alternately scores either 0 or 50 may have a vastly different record than a a team that scores 25 every game Also, important to take into account TD's on turnovers and by special teams (which we are sorely lacking) To show points #1 and #2, The Cowboys should have a really good record, but their points were mostly piled up in a few blow out wins against very inferior opponents Giants 35 and 37 Redskins 31 Dolphins 31
  5. "Now I readily admit that I don’t know one tenth as much about play-calling as professional football coaches do" Actually you (and the rest of us on TBD) probably do. Coaches (i.e. Daboll) try to be too cute or too smart and just end up being stupid 99% of us realize we should have run the ball more - somehow the coaching staff missed that point
  6. He did not have a chance or a view to spot Beasley
  7. Aside from the fact that one of the Browns rushers is running untouched towards him on the other side? If he throws to Beasley it is likely batted down - he had a split second to unload the ball to avoid the sack
  8. A few thoughts watching from a great distance to counter some of the hyper over-reactions after every win (we are super bowl bound) and loss (fire everyone, trade everyone and do a complete rebuild) 1. Daboll does not put JA in a position to succeed. Most coaches fail because they are too stupid or try to be too smart - Daboll is the latter. He does not do enough play action, roll-outs to create more oportunities for JA and definitely either a) abandons the running the game or b) features Gore over Devin 2. Defense needs to find a way to stop the run and create some turnovers - the past few weeks, we come up with almost no turnovers to help the offense 3. What really hurts our offense is lack of big-play capability. What is our longest TD this year? JA can not hit the long ball or the receivers can not find it; Gore has no explosiveness; Singletary is a very good runner but not a game- breaker. If you watch KC - they have a lot of TD's on short passes where the receiver breaks a tackle and outruns everyone to the end zone. We need more speed on offense. 4. JA is not a bust and being benched for Barkley (a career journeyman) and is not currently a franchise QB. He is a QB from a small-time program that has a big learning curve. He does some things well and some things poorly. The jury is still out - not the time yet to over-reach and anoint him either of the two. Give him one more year with some decent weapons - then we can make an intelligent assessment 5. McD is a good coach - not a great coach - relax, he is not being fired - he has brought order and stability and a decent record to this franchise. Give him some more time and then we will see. 6 GM is not getting fired - in general has done a decent job of managing the cap and drafting (past year's draft is still a TBD) - and creating order in the front office. My biggest criticism is his propensity to trade up All this being said, this was a terrible loss in a must win game and blame falls on offense, defense, coaches, coordinators and special teams
  9. Why didn't we keep Shady? Could have negotiated a reduction in salary and he probably would have stayed
  10. They finally are using Singletary - so much more explosive than Gore
  11. SOLD to a fellow TBD'er for a ridiculously low price - he better see a Bills' victory
  12. Getting stuck with these, will sell at DRASTICALLY reduced prices
  13. They are - one of the advantages of being a season ticket holder since 1961
  14. Was out of town so did not have chance to sell 2 tix to the game against the redskins They are Sec 111, 50 yard line on the aisle, row 8 Offering at face value $123 - would rather sell to TBD'ers than others Paypal (for both of our protections) and tix will come directly from Bills so you know legit
  15. The only benefit of tanking is to give you a shot at a franchise QB - which is hard to get right Cleveland "tanked" but where has it gotten them so far?
  16. If I recall correctly, we switched to the red helmets so that Joe Ferguson would have an easier time trying to find his WR's - all of the other teams in the division had white helmets so ours would stand out
  17. There is no rush to extend. Let's see how they play the entire year before extending
  18. No idea why anybody does it - especially in short yardage situations. It takes away any semblance of guesswork from the defense You are basically shouting to the defense - "We are passing - rush the passer - and stay with your receivers" In our 1st super bowl against the Cowboys, (with game still close) we had a 4th and goal at the 1 and took Thurman out of the backfield. I can imagine the Cowboys' defense's relief when they knew they did not have to guard against the run. [for you youngsters, we did not score the TD] One would think that a team's defensive coordinator would tell their offensive coordinator - "We love it when the other team runs empty backfield, so you should not do it!"
  19. What worries me is that all of the INT's were not "rookie" mistakes by being fooled by coverage or scheme - they were all really dumb throws to receivers who were not open. On many of the sacks, he had plenty of time and should have either thrown the ball away or taken off to run, At this point, he needs to be (and should already be) smarter in his situational awareness.
  20. and Cooper Kupp! (had we not traded up)
  21. Josh Allen is the QB of the future, but for this year ... must be a QB, and must be Brady
  22. Craigslist - since there are no fees. Lots of scammers, so make sure that a) you are using regular PAYPAL - NOT friends and family b) they will email the tix to you direct from Ticketmaster if the person balks at either of these two or asks for anything funny, stay away
  23. We need to really be racking up wins before we hit the tough stretch of - Cowboys, Ravens, Steelers, Pats
  24. I donated mine to Big Brothers/Big Sisters (www.beafriend.org) (716) 873-5833 www.hospicebuffalo.org (716) 686-8077 sometimes has taken some tix
