  1. Met him 2X - his rookie year at training camp - he was up against the goalpost surrounded by throngs of people looking for autographs - at the game against the Jets (sometime in the 80's) where his jersey was retired. Saw him leaving the owner's box and ran after him to get him to sign the poster they had given out from a purely football perspective, still think he was the greatest RB of all time. From a personal life perspective, one of the worst RB's of all time
  2. https://vault.si.com/vault/1991/09/02/lean-mean-sack-machine-a-dedicated-bruce-smith-establishes-a-blistering-pace-for-the-buffalo-bills-in-their-drive-to-another-super-bowl
  3. Harvey Johnson went 1 and 10 and 1 in 1968 yet we brought him back in 1971 and he did even worse 1-13 What were they thinking! He was hired as a replacement for Joel Collier who was fired 2 games in after losing to the raiders 48 to 6 ( i remember listening to the game as a kid in chestnut ridge park) Jim Ringo (a HOF center with the Packers) has to be honorable mention of the "rushless" as he quit at HALFTIME of a game as the Bills were losing at the half 42 to 3 to the 2nd year EXPANSION The team had to beg him to finish out the game For all of those who dislike McDermott, he may not be perfect, but you can see how hard it is to get a good coach For all of those who dislike McDermott, he may not be perfect, but you can see how hard it is to get a good coach
  4. Those are the only four: there is not a even a close 4th except Maybe Wade Phillips - who actually had a 60% winning percentage and got us to the playoffs 2 out of 3 years I would rank them 1. Saban - because 2x AFL championship 2. Levy - 4 Super Bowls 3. McD - obvious reasons 4. Knox - As someone else mentioned, he turned us around and got us to the playoffs a few times Trivia Question - what Bills head coach never won a game with the Bills?
  5. Barry gets more notice because he had so many awesome long runs, but my recollection is that there were a lot of runs for little gain Emmett gets more notice because he was a a cowboy and is the league all time rusher Overall, I would take Thurman over either of those two because of his pass catching ability. As someone pointed out, when he retired, he was over the hill, so that is what people remember I never saw Jim Brown play, and he was from a totally different era so cannot compare (note he played 12 game seasons) (Leaving personal life aside), I still think OJ was the greatest of all time - when you look at his stats (combined with the quality of teams/QB he played on) are off the charts. I think his 1975 season is one of the highest fantasy seasons ever. Go back and look at some of his highlight runs - they are unreal
  6. i remember listening to that game on the radio. It was actually a Saturday night game
  7. I would be happier if Coach had said "When he came back, it looked like he was a lot faster"
  8. 1. Too bad we traded up for Sammy instead of Mike Evans 2. What were the Titans thinking in trading away AJ Brown - what a steal for the Eagles 3. It does not seem to make sense to include the receiver's body of work over the past few years .It should only take into account recent production 4. I imagine that once you get the past top 15 or 20, there are a whole slew of players that really could be placed in that category
  9. When i read the topic, I thought it was how Jim Nantz predicted the schedule BEFORE it was released!
  10. I don't like that there are only 3 home games between October 5th and December 7th. Schedule should have been more balanced between home and away as in that stretch 7 out of 10 games are away
  11. DM if interested. No fees aside from a paypal protection fee if desired Section 111 ======== 4 in row 6 on the aisle on the 50 4 in row 7 on the aisle on the 50 I assume prices will be high this year since many quality opponents and last season at Rich Stadium, The Ralph, ...
  12. ... and Beane generally does very well with the later round picks - often times better than the 1st and 2nd rounders (e.g. Elam and Benford)
  13. Wouldn't two fourths equal one half?
  14. But he was SO SLOW ... he never hit terminal velocity!
  15. Never been a fan of McDaniel - but after just reading this article which highlights the adversity he overcame and his persistence, hard not to respect him https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39280819/mike-mcdaniel-miami-dolphins
  16. To me, seems like his time has passed. I would want to select a coach that if he is good, will be around a long time.
  17. We allowed 427 yards , did not force a punt, and let them drive the length of the field in last 2 minutes for potential tie Not sure that qualifies as "defense stepping up"
  18. To give him the benefit of a doubt, it could be that (in a positive sense) it is always "WE" - as in "we the team" whether win or lose
  19. Lamar's Arm was was pretty good in the 2nd half!
  20. Absolutely. Chiefs are not a juggernaut, and we are much healthier on defense Without the rash of injuries, we win last year
  21. Bills seem to be much improved w healthy milano
