I'm a Rosen guy but that article and other emphases lead me to believe that the Bills are not interested in 1) Rosen 2) Mayfield They are interested in 1) Darnold 2) Allen 3) Rudolph 4) Jackson 5) Falk Their emphasis is on culture and I think they will do extra homework to make sure that whoever they take fits within the culture they are trying to build. I think their preference is to land Darnold or Allen, but they will take a lesser talented player (Rudolph, Falk) and less polished player (Jackson) at the position than bring in a guy that does not fit the culture. Hopefully, I'm wrong and the interviews with Rosen and Mayfield went well and they saw something, heard things and that these guys actually do fit into the culture. But if they don't they just don't. No need to force it.

Rosen is my top passer and top choice because he's the most polished and ready to play. However, I would have no problem with: 1) Darnold 2) Allen - I've criticized heavily but I think the tools are there. My only issue is giving up a lot of picks for him. I'd easily take him at 12. I only have these two because I don't think the Bills are interested in Mayfield. I think the Bills QB board looks like this: 1) Darnold 2) Allen 3) Rudolph 4) Jackson 5) Falk While Rosen is my top guy, I'm not sure the Bills are interested in him either. They are building something and I don't think guys like Rosen, Mayfield fit into what they are building. I'd be happy to be wrong but I think you have to factor in the culture that they are trying to build and look at the QBs and ask who fits into that.

Giants View Barkley as Near Perfect Prospect
NewEraBills replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the better question to ask is about how much playmaking ability he has shown vs other offensive talents in the draft, not just HBs. You're not going to find many if any guys that have his playmaking ability and production (other than QB's). We are talking about a guy that can run it and catch it. I wouldn't say he's a bruiser like Zeke, but he's probably a much better receiver. With Barkley, we're talking about a guy who could come in and give you potentially 1800 yards of offense (rushing and receiving). He has that kind of ability. You're not going to find many, IF any others (except QBs) with that. Also, take into account the Giants have watched Zeke the last two years and they understand the impact a playmaker like that can have. Pretty sure they'd like to even the odds on that front. -
Giants View Barkley as Near Perfect Prospect
NewEraBills replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just think this view is missing the complete picture. As I've stated a month or so ago, it's not just about position, it's about playmaking ability. You don't pass up on playmaking ability just because he plays what you think is a devalued position. With a top 5 pick and a struggling offensive team, you take the best playmaker on the board who can change your team immediately and that guy is Barkley. Of course, you can say well I would take the picks and take so and so later. Let's be clear about one thing, there is something that you miss when you do that. Just like people have QBs ranked in tiers and if you don't grab either Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield (and I hesitate to put Allen here but I will) you miss something, it's the same thing with other players that happen to play other positions. If I'm Gettleman I'm not taking a QB (unless it is Darnold and even then I'd hesitate because I don't know what I have in Davis Webb) and I'm not taking a deal that moves me out of Barkley/Chubb/Nelson range. If the Giants are committing to Eli and making a run for another two years, taking a QB doesn't move the needle for them one bit. They need guys that can come in and help them win now and that starts by getting a playmaker on offense that will 1) take pressure off of Eli and 2) be a damn problem for defensive coordinators to plan for. -
Bills 2018 Mock Draft Watch
NewEraBills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm just torn on Allen. I think he's one of the Bills top QB's. I think their top guy is Darnold and Allen is their 2nd guy, then Rudolph. That's not my order but I think when you look at what is being built here 4 QB's off the top that fit what they are building culture wise: Darnold, Allen, Rudolph, and Falk. I think that's their order. I'm not a big fan of it but just looking at what they are trying to build here I wouldn't be surprised if this was their top 4. -
I wouldn't doubt Allen as the target. He's a hard worker, keeps his head down, humble guy, like Darnold. He has a lot potential. I'd just be severely disappointed if we traded 5 picks away for him. I'd take Roquan Smith, Trumaine Edmonds, Denzel Ward, ect before Allen. But that's just me. The Bills will do what they will.

Bills Draft Day QB Worst Case Scenario
NewEraBills replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If all of them go in the top 4 picks and we couldn't get the Giants 2 or the Browns 4 then I would sit at 12 and take BPA. Don't reach for lower talent at a position just because it is a position of need. You miss out on a blue chip player elsewhere and then you've spent a 1st rd pick on someone who may never play. -

Bills Draft Day QB Worst Case Scenario

This is a rebuild man. The offense has the chance to be worse than last year. Imagine that -
Bills Draft Day QB Worst Case Scenario

I'll say this, to me, Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield are the only three guys I would trade up in front of pick 7 for. Everything else at QB is a reach. Allen's value to me is not even what Mahomes was last year. At least Mahomes had crazy numbers (yards, TD/INT ratio). His biggest concerns were coming from a spread offense and his horrible mechanics/footwork. Allen has the latter concerns but he has pedestrian numbers against weak talent. I'd put him in the 15-32 range. I'm taking Roquan Smith, Derwin James, Denzel Ward, Will Hernandez, Trumaine Edmonds before I take Allen, Rudolph, or Jackson. I only see Rosen, Darnold, and Mayfield as top 15 guys. And I would go Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold, in that order from a production and polish standpoint. -
It's a pipe dream IMO. BUT, the way Denver plays football, that is relying on their stellar defense, it could be that Elway sees a two-year window and wants to stack the defense with the idea that offensively we can just do enough and our defense will win games. We'll see but I think Denver goes with their future signal caller because they have two 2nds, three 3rds in this draft to fill those other positions or to move around the board to grab top talent. Denver could take a QB at 5. Trade both 2nds and get back into the bottom of the 1st for a CB like Mike Hughes, take two 3rds and trade up into the 2nd and get an offensive lineman, or a linebacker what have you.

***Speculation from Brownsboard.com***
NewEraBills replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not that I would do this but I think the Browns thinking is since we cannot agree on a QB but we can agree on Chubb, you take the guy that's going to help you immediately at 1 in Chubb and since the QB is not going to be playing for awhile anyway you take him at 4. Chubb will help get after Dalton, Ben, and Flacco immediately. By the time the QB is ready, you have Garrett, Chubb and the QB all still on rookie deals. I'd take the QB first, but taking Chubb 1st is not a terrible idea for the Browns, it's probably just not the best one either. -
Hanging on to 2019 1st round pick
NewEraBills replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you're looking for Defensive line next year's class is going to be really good. -
Rosen is my #1 QB too. But he does suffer from turnovers vs Pressure. And it's evident here vs Memphis Look at 4:48-4:50 and 12:19-12:24 when the pressure starts getting to Josh he'll lose his mechanics with the quickness and go into this protection type throw and it results in turnovers. But other than that, there's just so much good. Tight Window throws; NFL Anticipation; lots of passing to the middle of the field; eye manipulation; pass placement in 1 v 1 situations. Lots to like IMO. For the most part very solid mechanics, probably the best in the class (just not against pressure). To me a Day 1 starter.

Will the 2018 Bills be better then the 2017 Bills???
NewEraBills replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they will take a step back this year. The team will have to rely on defense a lot to be in games. The offense needs too many pieces including the main piece. -
To me since I view this as a rebuild get the QB and build from there. If you have the assets to do it now just do it because what will happen is we will be a team that's meddling in the middle of the pack and not be in a draft position to grab a franchise guy because we'll always win enough. Just do it now and get it over with.

Teams that have stitched up OL's are generally losing teams. That's just a fact. I've accepted that the Bills are in rebuild mode and whoever the QB is will be running for his life a lot.

Two Weeks Out, What do you Currently want to happen?
NewEraBills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think getting the QB has to be the priority for that reason. The Bills have had it bad at QB but not Limbo status. By Limbo status I mean a guy that doesn't do anything and has you picking in the top 3-5 picks every year. The Browns are the only team who understand QB Limbo. We need to go ahead and get the QB because while we do not have franchise guys, we have guys that do just enough to keep us out of position of selecting a franchise guy. Face it, we are in a rebuild. -

NewEraBills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What do I want to happen? Well, this is not grounded in reality but since you ask what i want to happen, I want Rosen to fall to 12 and then we also take Vander Esch at 22. That's what I want to happen. Then start rebuilding the OL and add to the WR unit.
