  1. Well I'm glad Gettleman didn't take the deal then. I can live with Allen at 7 and then Edmunds with a trade up from 22. But had we traded up to 2, no Edmunds and no 2nd round picks this year and perhaps a 1st next year off the table I would not be able to live with that for Allen.
  2. In hindsight, to me, Beane did the right thing. Don't give away next year's first and if you can get a possible franchise QB of the offense and defense don't give away 22 this year either.
  3. Yep, this solidifies it for me. Their top 3 were: Darnold Allen Rudolph
  4. It wasn't Rosen or they would have taken him. I don't think Mayfield was in their plan either. To me, Darnold was the only other top guy they were going to take.
  5. I've said it quite a bit, but this will be a run-heavy offense. Running will be our key to success in 2018.
  6. I don't have a lot of confidence in AJ BUT I definitely think he'll start the season. Now that I've thought about the picture here. What I see is a team that is going to run the ball on offense and protect it from being turned over, play tough defense and hang around in games. You do that with a vet, not a rookie. But if/when we are completely out of it that's when you'll see Allen. So, later in the season, like weeks 10 forward are possibles if we are out of it. I think the goal now that we have Allen is to bring him along slowly and build a playoff caliber roster around him.
  7. 1. Josh Allen - B-/C+ 2. Tremaine Edmunds - A+ 3. Harrison Phillips - B+ 4. Taron Johnson - C+ 5. Siran Neal - C+ 5. Wyatt Teller - B+ 6. Ray Ray McCloud - C+ 7. Austin Proehl - B- Here are my grades. I'm over the anger of the Allen pick and at this point just hope he turns into a real gamer and field general at QB. They took the riskiest swing you can take. I hope they hit on something. Edmunds and Phillips are the picks I like the most. There was no way I thought we could get a possible franchise QB and guys like this on defense.
  8. I said this yesterday. AJ and Nate do not instill any confidence. I don't see Allen having a difficult time beating either of them out. If we are .500 or below after 8 weeks I can see the Allen era beginning, if not before that.
  9. They must be ok with the OL.
  10. Man they still have Davis Webb that they drafted in the 3rd last year. If they think Eli has two years, build around him let the situation with Webb play out. I think Barkley is a great pick for them.
  11. Gettleman sorta hinted that he wouldn't be listening at the combine when he said you keep it simple and don't complicate things. I had a feeling then if Barkley was available he'd be taking him. The idea of them wanting Darnold was smoke.
  12. Everyone is entitled to feel how they feel, but I just don't see why any Giants fan would be sad or angry. Your reasons to me are not good reasons for them to be sad given their situation. 1. They still have Eli for two additional years 2. They don't know what they have in Davis Webb 3. The biggest issues they've had up front and in the backfield is what has been keeping their offense back and it got addressed with a top LG prospect to solidify the left side and the best playmaker in the draft. I just don't look at positional value except for at QB. I look at it in terms of who are the best playmakers. The Giants took the best offensive playmaker and improved their team immediately. I don't care what position that playmaker plays. Just give me the best one if that's what I need. They did exactly that. Their message is we'll build around Eli for another run. We have time to see what we have with Webb, so why take a QB early. When you have a guy take developmental guys at QB.
  13. It's going to be another year of conservative offense and maybe we get a little more out of the QB position. This is not going to be a team that slings the rock a lot so get ready to be patient or be mad.
  14. I like Okorafor. Forgot about him.
  15. Also another possible. I think it'll be Crosby though.
  16. They could use both. He's a chess piece for them that they can move around. They like a lot of double TE formations.
  17. Makes plenty of sense. They really didn't have a TE. Gilmore from what I've read is moving to OL plus he hasnt been available the last two seasons. They will probably cut Ben Watson. Then all they have is Nick Boyle who's not going to break for big plays.
  18. Tyrel Crosby might be the pick.
  19. On the QBs, maybe Lamar was the guy and after that teams are just waiting until late 3 to round 4 because Jackson is no available.
  20. Need depth at CB. May need another outside linebacker.
  21. I wouldn't take one. I'd eye an OL and Nick Chubb. Running the football will be the key to our success in 2018. Frankly, my next three picks would be two OL and a HB. After that, I'd be looking for another linebacker, CB or TE.
  22. He wouldn't have been there at 12 and I think he was their #2 QB so rather than losing out on him they pulled the trigger. There was nothing they could do to get their #1 guy, namely Darnold. When thinking about it in that sense, I'm not too mad with it because Allen was most likely their #2 and they couldn't do anything about Darnold, especially when Cleveland took Mayfield #1. Once that happened you knew Darnold was going to the Jets. And just like many people said about a month ago, the Giants are not trading #2 for anything and it showed last night. Gettleman had to chance to take Darnold and didn't so that tells me he wasn't trading out regardless. He took his guy and didn't take a chance of losing out on him. I get mad initially but it's starting to sink in. These are the cards we've been dealt. Just hope we can play the best hand we can.
