Hey Dawg: Why is there so much doom and gloom about the D?? Yes, there are the unknowns, but consider the patchwork D we had in Dec and Jan. I say our D starting in game 1 this year is more athletic, faster, younger (less injury prone) and better. It’s gotta be. WSY?

I expect both O and D to be better. Go Bills!!

This D is now built to defeat Mahomey with more pressure and more LB and CB speed. Now if we can get Milano healthy and keep everyone else healthy, we’ll take care of KC.

Crispy why so cranky?? The D will be better than last year with more QB pressures and turn overs. Josh will have a strong O line with a better run game. The WRs will be just fine. We’ll win 11-12 games. Anything can happened in the playoffs. Feel better now Crispy?

If would have to be day 1. I think Cook will have a better year this year, and that’s saying a lot. Remember, this is pre-season, and Cook is not allowed to cook.

As others have alluded, the guy must be smart. On a week to week basis his analytical aptitude must enable him to dissect the skills of the QBs, and make suggestions on what would work taking into consideration those skills. Wouldn’t he be the guy to run the scout team? If so, he’s probably one of the best at mimicking the other teams offense on short order. Just grasping at straws.

I see respect is the main concept in this treatise on leadership. Without it organizations/teams never become great. Over at Google and Apple, etc, respect built on fear isn’t the driver since fear hampers creativity and innovation. Today’s workplace is different than the 50s and 60s. Are today’s football teams like those of Lombardi? Definitely not. I think Mahomey and Kelce have a mutual mind about execution and winning. JA17 and SD14 didn’t the last 2 years. I think he lost respect for Josh. This may be due to many of the things that Shaw points out. Does Mahomey get goofy with teammates? It appears so, but there’s a fine line. I do like that Josh has fun playing football, but he has to have the respect of his team mates that is based not only on his ability to win but his ability to hold everyone accountable. The former is evident, but his commitment to being a leader that holds everyone accountable is only known by his team mates and coaches at this point. If he hasn’t done this in the past, he has a great opportunity to do so now.

We win 5 games in division (loss to Jets), 2 from the 4 elite teams (Balt, KC, SF, Motown), and 5 of 7 from the rest. 12 wins minimum. Wish we could play Fins 4xs.

It appears that the plan is ball control with a versatile use of RBs. Use a lot of clock to keep the D fresh and to keep Mahomey on the sidelines.

With a pretty checkered roster on D last year, the team finished strong when things could’ve come off the tracks. That’s evidence that he’s a good coach. Is he as good as Tomlin and Harbaugh, maybe; probably not as good as Shanny and Reid. There’s not an available coach that we know for sure is better than what we’ve got. That’s why he is still here. If we don’t play in the AFC championship and look strong, he’s gotta go. Give someone else a chance.

I see Mahomey and Josh cancel each other out. Kelce is the difference. That guy kills us.

Basically, the coach and GM observed diminished skills. They could’ve kept him another year but figured they could have a better WR corp with what they’ve eventually done. If Diggs was going to continue to perform at his level of second half of season, they made the right move. They concluded that keeping Diggs would not get them past KC, Cincy, and Baltimore.

Good points. I see that JJ is fast enough. I would say the same for Keon. I remember the JJ contested catch against us when our DB had his hands all over the ball. Most of JJs highlights are contested catches. I think we’ll see Keon win a lot of these too. He’s strong with an attitude, plus he has hand-eye concentration of a forward. I’m excited about what’s coming.

Is JJ a speed, separation guy?? I don’t see that that’s his forte. What is he, like a 4.5. The highlights I see are contested catches which bodes well for Keon. It will be interesting to see what Keon becomes. 80% of JJ would be amazing!
