So true. Reminds me of some random idiot that called in to the John Murphy show ( I know , state radio ) a couple weeks ago. Said the Bills need more of what New England has done by using white WR’s ! Lol dumbest thing ever. He kept qualifying it by saying it was nothing to do with race but they really need white WRs. Hilarious, when what the Bills have really needed was a QB more similar to New England’s. Bills fans love JAG s

This would be a complete waste and the Bills rebuild will be into year 2 of Allen before he’s had any chance to improve. The OL is a problem, though they are capable of improving as they play together. They’ve played together very little , and cohesion is important on the line. Allen must be given at least 8 games as the starter this season. The only exception to this is if Peterman plays like a franchise QB. That is extremely unlikely.

This is what’s being lost on many. Bears are dreaming of the day they can compete with Rodgers and the Pack. They may be a little closer than people think, and they were willing to vastly overpay to keep him away from their rival. It’s still the best known rivalry in the history of the NFL.

Whaley was above average identifier of talent. He was good at getting the necessary ingredients. Just didn’t seem to have a clear cut plan. He needed someone to tell him if they were making chili or beef stew.

"Big Name" cuts around the league...

For now. This roster is pretty fluid at the moment. Upgrades needed in many areas. -
If you hate the Bills why are you here?

Allen has shown good instincts in his preseason play. He’s had mistakes too, they all will. We all have our fave college players, but most times the stars don’t align and they end up in other NFL cities. The Bills are just one team of 32 , after all. Good news is, all is not lost. NY Jets merch is readily available and you can get tv packages that will allow you to watch Darnold in all his glory every Sunday. -

Well said. For some you wonder which matters more ; enjoying football games or being able to say “ I was right “ ? -
No surprise there with the NYJ. Big market team always overshadowed by the Giants. FO on its last chance to save their jobs , so they care little about the future.

Well the Herschel Walker trade led to championships.......for Dallas, who traded him.

Coleman wasn’t a move for depth. There is one starter quality WR on this roster. Coleman was a flyer on a guy that might pan out for little cost either way if it didn’t work. Is Mack blue chip ? Absolutely. Pass rushers are important, but Mack wouldn’t get the Bills much closer to contention any time soon. Sure, great splash move and he’d be popular. I wouldn’t hate watching him. Reality is this OL needs at least two stud players, a true star WR will be needed as well. 2019 looks to be a tremdous draft for DL talent and the Bills pick will be a high one. I get trying to draft their own stars at the cornerstone positions and have them on low salaries for awhile while filling holes in FA. That seems to be their template. I’d suspect that if they drafted QB 1 last year and he played substantial time they may have been more willing to part with 2019 first. Just not a fit with their master plan. Mack trade would have seemed Whaley- ish to me. Window dressing so you don’t notice the cracks in the foundation.

Who is this “ we” you speak of ? The Bills FO and staff has been here all of one year. Apparently you have their entire plan and M.O figured out already. One thing they haven’t shown is unwillingness to part with draft picks. They’ve traded many already. This team has many holes as they are only in year two of a teardown/ rebuild project. A surprise playoff appearance in the teardown year shouldn’t overshadow the larger goal/ task at hand. Long term contention, centering around Josh Allen is what they’re after here. Too many missing parts to pay a ransom for one , albeit great D player.

The Bills lack a foundation right now. Can’t build that without picks. The roster is closer to one giant hole than anything else. Mack had value to them and they offered something in line with that price. By the time this team is ready to contend Mack will be close to 30.

There is zero that the Bills can do about “ number 12” without having an elite QB , for starters. They need to find out about Allen. Then a quality WR corps and at least a decent OL. The Bills have managed to defeat Brady twice in 17 seasons. They’ve had a good pass rush in some of those. It’s not nearly enough. Anyway, this rebuild is only in year two and is on a timeline coinciding with Brady being out of the division and league. They can’t derail their plan over a single player that is already 27. It seems they offered something they could live with, and were turned down. The Bills will almost certainly be picking in the top 10 if not the top 5 next year. Any Bills fan that panics after a bad start this year is delusional. There’s little talent on this roster, and plugging in a Mack at a huge cost would be a mistake. This team needs to be built around its own stars that they draft themselves. If the FO cannot do this, they will be fired and replaced. Mack would have fit best on a team ready to make a run, but the Bears are a large market team and are further along than the Bills.

Peterman/Allen next Flutie/Johnson... hoping I am wrong
Boatdrinks replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IF such a scenario were to occur ( and it’s a huge if) you don’t change the QB. If the team is winning and the offense is performing well you don’t change it. In the offseason you re-evaluate. Eventually one guy would have to go if it continued. The odds of such a thing happening are minuscule. It’s not worth pondering unless it actually happens. -
Believe whatvever opinions you choose, because these prognostications are exactly that. However, from a Bills fan perspective there is much to be concerned about. There is a serious lack of top end talent on this roster. The OL is a shambles , depth is nonexistent. The skill positions are weak aside from McCoy. The D line got no pass rush last season and doesn’t appear to have improved in that area. The LBs are subpar overall and the rookie MLB has failed to impress thus far. The secondary looks decent on paper. This could very well end up the worst team in the NFL this year. Many like to point to CLE, but that lineup has talent. They’ve had a turnover machine at QB for awhile and appear to have shored up that weakness. The Browns look ripe for substantial improvement.

No one that matters will be playing much in this game. The final preseason game being so close to opening day ensures that it is a complete joke of a contest.

Interesting viewpoint. While overall the RB position has been devalued, Gurley has brought it back to the forefront somewhat. When judging by NFL salaries , after QB it seems to be pass rushers, then WR, LT and CB as the highest paid. If using salary as an indicator of the value placed on players by NFL teams. I get the WRs as the passing game is where the NFL is at these days, but you still need a guy that excels at keeping your QB upright for the WR to put up numbers.
