  1. Interesting. Could be the Bills board? Looks like it anyway.
  2. It only confirms that those teams were willing. Different situation, different draft, GMs , players available etc. You can't just say team x did it so we'll do it too. There's no guarantee you find a team that's willing. Besides, there's still time and teams have nothing to lose by waiting. There are far more deals made during the draft than before it.
  3. Doesn't confirm anything. Perhaps that owners around the league feel that the guy is bad for business . He's mediocre and too controversial. Manziel was self destructive with his substance abuse etc but he claims he's been diagnosed with mental issues. He will garner sympathy from some fans, and he's not going to " protest" anything on the sidelines. At least not that they know of.
  4. The Jets had the 6th pick to offer. That's better than 12. They are also before the Bills in each round, so their 2nds are higher than Buffalo as well. You need the good fortune of a team being willing to trade down to the spot you have. Either the Rams or Eagles ( I don't recall which) had to move twice to get to the high pick they needed. The Bills moved to 12, but could be stuck there without a dance partner. It could still happen, but if a team is determined to land a specific player and won't move down then what can you do? Better have a backup plan( or two).
  5. It may be the perfect storm for this to happen since the rookie cap was put in. Quite a few QB needy teams, other teams with aging vets. Not as much elite talent elsewhere at the top of this draft, and a weak QB class on the horizon in 2019. Could add up to a draft first.
  6. These terms gain traction in the media and go in and out of fashion. The board is reflective of that. No more or less annoying than " draft picks " would be when you've read it 34 thousand times in the last month lol
  7. SNF is now what MNF used to be long ago. The premiere game of the week. It's all about ratings , so I don't see the Bills on a SNF matchup unless it's vs a big draw team.More likely MNF , maybe on the road vs say a CHI that is always a big draw whether they're winning or not. The Bills also traded their playoff QB from last season and it's not looking good that they'll get a top rookie. There's no official " procedure" aside from the SB champion at home to open TNF. The Bills aren't a ratings draw right now.
  8. They traded their ( mediocre ) starting QB. That decision isn't made if they aren't ok with the alternatives.
  9. And if you make a mistake, the other guy gets the better of you. The NY media would skewer you whole. Best to just not do business.
  10. The Browns HC said Taylor is the starting QB, and there won't be an open competition for the job. i.e. The rookie will sit. Not a bad thing imo . They're going QB at 1 though.
  11. The Giants wouldnt move down with BUF for only that reason, but the Bills taking a QB away from the Jets is something they wouldn't hate.
  12. Hmmm. I'll agree on Allens being a red flag, mostly his lack of resume. He hasn't done a lot at the college level . I don't think that Mayfield is going to suddenly turn into an alcoholic or have a mental breakdown so I don't see much comparable to a Manziel. His height is his biggest red flag as he does tend to play out of the pocket too much.
  13. Brady has said he though he was going to be cut during that preseason. Injuries kept him around Yes, they were clearly looking to the future last draft by passing on a QB and moving down. ( note : Beane was not here at the time) . It may or may not work out for them. They still aren't in a position to get a top QB yet.
  14. It wasn't exactly luck, they had the 12 the pick too so they were getting Kelly or Marino at that point . Ferguson was a viable QB that led a few playoff teams. Throw out anything pre Kelly because it was just a different era of football. I wouldn't pin it on Ralph. Butler and Donahoe tried various ways to find a QB. They made some bad decisions and had some bad luck too. Why was Wilson OK with trading firsts for Johnson or Bledsoe. Both were paid highly by the Bills. It hasn't been one thing that has kept the Bills from getting a top QB. It's been many things.
  15. Yeah, now that's putting the amount of time in perspective. Ugh. Sad thing is, they may not even be able to get one if those 5. That's a lot of QBs to go in the first 11 picks, but these are different times and it could happen.
  16. The Colts were not going to trade the rights to draft the most highly touted QB prospect in over a decade. They just weren't. Even if Nix had made this move , he wasn't getting the chance to draft Andrew Luck.
  17. RG3 ended up a flame out- bust. I don't know if I'd hold him up as a reason the Bills don't have a QB.
  18. You assume there is a QB they could have traded up for. Just who was it? Cam? Wasn't going to happen. Sometimes it's just bad luck. The Bills had #3 overall pick in 2011... too bad there weren't many good QBs. The Steelers had the #11 overall pick in '04 and Roethlisberger landed in their lap. There's a bit of good fortune involved here too. Most teams with good QBs didn't move up to draft them.
  19. AJ Green P Peterson and Julio Jones for starters lol At QB only Locker went in round one after Cam went 1st
  20. Not exactly. Mel Kiper's final mock had no QBs projected in round one, with the Bills going OL with their first pick. Nassibs name was thrown around as a possibility for the Bills by a few draft guys ( not in round one though) due to the Marrone connection. Most experts had 2013 as a very poor year to be drafting a QB.
  21. Agreed, along with Star L to tie up the middle. The Bills felt QBs had too many escape routes up the middle in last years D .
  22. Ha ha , believe that the 2011 Colts " tanked" if you want to. They had a terrible QB, lost a couple close games that would have changed the draft order. The Colts won 2 games, but so did the Rams. The Vikings won 3. Were all these teams " tanking"? Some fans holding up " suck for Luck" signs doesn't equate to a tank. It's a hockey concept that has no basis in reality in the NFL. The Browns may be in a better position than the Bills. They've won 1 game in two years and have gone through a slew of QBs since the 99 season. They've been terrible for years and have nothing yet to show for it. Perhaps Dorsey can turn them around. He arrived with things set up nicely for him due to incompetence, not some brilliant strategy on the part of CLE.
