Offensive weapons or finish the Defence?
Boatdrinks replied to Franchiseneedsme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Many throw around the “ BPA” term as gospel, but BPA on its own is pretty much a myth. Many of these prospects are graded very closely, as well as differently by various teams. The Bills selection will be dictated by a combination of factors. Their vision of how the team should be built , coupled with the cost of obtaining the specific players they covet to fit that vision. They certainly have different potential scenarios worked out, but their history shows they prefer specific players. Not some hypothetical BPA cliche. Look at their past drafting and expect more of the same. -
Bills have interest in Seattle DE Frank Clark

True, yet Ansah remains unsigned. Likely the injury concern isn’t worth his asking price. -
Bills have interest in Seattle DE Frank Clark

No, it’s not. It will happen with improved OL play, improved QB play, improved WR play and another year in the same offensive system. A truly elite defense can only help the offense, not hinder it. -
We can, but it sure makes for compelling conversation around the bar. Talking about them in this way is part of the thrill of what we witnessed. If one can’t enjoy it, well I concur. It’s their choice, but a curmudgeonly one to be sure.

So the revelation that Tiger banged a few chicks in his spare time changed it all..hmmm. Ruined the dream for you ?
-
Yep, it seemed like he might be back that year. Won 11 times iirc but no majors.
-
Agreed. There certainly was a time not that long ago, anyway. I remember his last major win at the US open, the talk radio opinion ( and my own ) was simply when and by how many would he overtake Jack. It seemed inevitable at the time , then disaster struck. As time went on the forgone conclusion flipped the wrong way. Last tour season brought the possibility back. Amazing story of redemption and a return to the winners circle that the golf world was hoping for ! While Nicklaus’s record is still off in the distance, it’s no longer unattainable. I hope we can see it happen, as we surely won’t see anyone come close again in our lifetime. Bravo, Tiger !

While your feelings are clear, a businessman would think quite differently. So would those who own businesses near a potential new facility. You want to drive to the stadium, bring what you need with you, watch the game and leave. The stadium could be in a field out in cattaruagus county and it would be ok by you. My guess is you aren’t the target customer that the Bills ( a business looking to increase revenues) would have in mind if they were to build a new stadium.

While this would seem practical, it has some downsides. The Orchard Park location is far flung for many out of towners anttending the games, and even those in the heavily populated northtowns. There are few local businesses in the area to pick up extra customers on gamedays. Pretty much an economic wasteland in the general area around NEF. The stadium location has never been very good, and a new stadium there doesn’t change anything in that department.

Chick Fil A Banned From Buffalo Airport
Boatdrinks replied to RaoulDuke79's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Personally, I don’t give a s**t who anyone marries or wants to marry. However ,If a Chick Fil A wants to donate to a religious organization or some other nonsense, who cares ? This is a bad look for Buffalo imo. Do they serve good food for a decent price and have clean stores ? ( in this case the answer is yes) Great, sign them up ! As far as I know, Chick Fil A will hire and serve anybody so what’s the problem? Embarrassing for the city and Delaware North. -
Birth of the Legend of FitzMagic
Boatdrinks replied to Haplo848's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Fitz “ contract myth” has become something of a legend of its own. Reality is, Fitzpatrick was playing on a backup contract when he clearly had become the team’s choice as starter. The contract lifted him from backup money all the way to the 16th highest paid starting QB in the NFL. That’s right, exactly average - right where he belonged. There was nothing wrong with this, and drafting EJ Manuel was actually a far greater error at QB by the Bills FO. Sure, Fitzy showed his true colors, but there was nothing wrong with paying him like the middle of the pack starter he was at the time. -
Feels like Pick 9 is no-mans land

14, 15, 16 is no mans land. 9 is fine. -
The Patriots* winning isn’t built around where they draft CBs or OL/ DL. Their “ model” is a simple one, alright...Tom Brady. Anything else they do tends to work because of that , not the other way around. Conversely, the Bills have lost to them for 10 + years because they’ve lacked a good/ great player at that all important QB position. Sure, a D with a few HOFers and a wicked pass rush ( such as the Ravens) may have allowed them to win with just solid QB play. The current rules don’t facilitate beating NE with CB play.

Your favorite Bills conspiracy theory?
Boatdrinks replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills lost SuperBowls because they were partying too much. Never mind that the Raiders were legendary partiers in the 70’s and 80’s but had little trouble winning. -
2019 New Era Draft Hats Not so Special !!
Boatdrinks replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe this year’s draft hats had a theme of incorporating elements of each citys flag into the hat. So you will probably see things that have no apparent connection to the team’s official logo, such as the lightning bolts on the Bills hat. From what I understand, the designer of the City’s flag included 13 lightning bolts in the design. These represented that New York State was one of the 13 original Colonies. They also represented the “ energy and spirit of Buffalo” and that Buffalo was one of the first cities on the electrical grid. I admit, once I became aware of this I warmed up to the design of the Bills hat. Previous years have been worse, imo. -
Whether it’s mechancis or his diminutive size , I am fully expecting he’ll be a bust. He’s no Baker Mayfield, though the football talking heads on TV are trying to sell him as such. Only two or three short ,small QBs have had success over the last 3 or four decades. Murray will be on the scrap heap rather than join the outliers.

Ty Dunne: What Happened in Green Bay
Boatdrinks replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sometimes with family, you need to be the better person and take the high road. Regardless of family dynamics/ complications , some people really just are A-holes in real life. Even sports stars that many people think highly of. We often only see their “ public” persona, and that’s the point. -

Buffalo politician: Why wouldn’t you renovate New Era Field
Boatdrinks replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are a business. Their goal as a business is to make more profit. The current stadium limits this ability. Aside from taking politically virtuous yet wholly unrealistic stances , there isn’t much point to your takes in this thread. You don’t want a new stadium. Fine. That doesn’t mean the Bills don’t want it or that one won’t get built. -

That is a strange interpretation to say the least. There is/ was nothing childish about my choice of modifier. There is no argument. Merely the fact that the Bills average ticket price is among the league’s lowest. Hence the reference. Please explain what “ facts” you are referring to that don’t support this. The modifier is not an exaggeration, but a description of the Bills ticket cost comparative to the rest of the league. Refusing to consider the business aspects of the stadium discussion while demanding the Bills to operate in some sort of business vacuum that isn’t typical of other teams in the league is nonsense. One must acknowledge that while typical funding sources of stadia around the league is far from ideal, that is the world the Bills are playing in.
