  2. I just flipped off President George I'm going to dizz knee land
  3. Waiting for the judgement But the judgement never ends
  4. A glint of steel, a flash of light You know you're not going home tonight Be it jack or switch, doctor's or mind Nowhere to run, everywhere you'll find You can't escape from the bed you've made When your time has come You'll accept the blade!
  5. Sitting in the stand of the sports arena Waiting for the show to begin Red lights, green lights, strawberry wine A good friend of mine, follow the stars Venus and Mars Are alright tonight
  6. Then came a change When I said I would soon be leavin' you Nothin' else to do Please remember I never lose the thought of you Call on me 'cause I love you You know I do You love me too
  7. Age and $$ does not seem to scare off the Mets lately.
  8. @ExWNYer @Gugny @Another Fan Ticking off the boxes - Nimmo signed long term and Robertson joins the bullpen. I expect Nimmo will be a corner outfielder in a year or two.
  9. $30-per was prescient - except it was $31 for Nimmo and Robertson
  10. One of the Citi Field (Mets) parking lots is on the site of the original Shea stadium. A cool thing they did was mark where the bases and pitchers mound were. Assuming it's possible, it would be cool to mark where the goal posts and/or midfield currently are when the Bills new stadium is built.
  11. Hockey was always the punching bag for a ridiculous post-season. I remember when 16 of the 21 teams made the post season. To their credit they've expanded to 32 teams without adding to the post season. And the 8 team divisions make it tougher for a sub .500 team to make the playoffs which is better then the NFL setup that is predicated on regular season divisional rivalries.
  12. LOL - maybe it was Steven Tyler as an elf on a unicycle? Movie came out when my kids were becoming aware of Santa which is why I like it. If it came out a few years later it'd probably be a nothing burger to me. My favorite part was when Conductor Tom Hanks pulls off his hat and he's as bald as a cue ball. My guess is that was a prank that he had no idea about until he saw a screening.
  13. Movies: Elf Daddys Home 2 Polar Express Shows: Grinch Charlie Brown Mad TV Raging Rudolph
  14. I will be interested to see how much further Cohen pushes the payroll, still holes to fill. There's a reason they call it the Cohen tax, it was put in place for him. The Yankees were always a team willing to bury their mistakes by spending more. Cohen had his first Yankee moment when he cut ties with Cano and ate that contract.
  15. Just to be clear - I have nothing against Judge or the signing. But 9 years is a risk regardless who the player is. But please stop comparing Mantle's stats with Judge's. Different eras and I'd be surprised if I couldn't find a current player that is nowhere near the stature of Judge who has similar HR's to Mantle at similar points in their careers. Just for fun I took a flier on Yankee favorite Joey Gallo. He hit 156 HR's his first seven years - and that includes his first two when he only played 53 games and hit only 7.
  16. In Mantle's last 4 seasons he never topped 56 RBI's. Is that what you're aiming for?
  17. Replacing one great pitcher with another doesn't represent improvement (I actually agree with that) but resigning the same player you already had does? If not, why make the point? As to letting DeGrom go - which they actually didn't, for whatever reason he wanted out (cue the Mets derision from holier-than-thou Yankee fans) - being a bad baseball decision, time will tell. As it will with Judge.
  18. I don't know enough about Quintana to have a strong opinion. But I do like 2 his year deal over the 4 years Walker got. BTW - did you see that Kenley Jansen signed with the Red Sox? Any idea if the Braves have a plan to replace him?
  19. @Gugny @ExWNYer @Another Fan Not sure if this has any legs but Buster Olney speculating that Rangers/DeGrom might be interested in a trade for McCann: https://www.si.com/mlb/mets/news/new-york-mets-texas-rangers-could-become-trade-partners-for-james-mccann
  20. Easily the most recognizable boxing ref for me, he was part of the show back in the day. DQ'd Tyson after the second time he bit Holyfield. RIP.
  21. So she's a Bills fan?
  22. My guess is they won't be able to get both Rodon and Bassitt, but that would be great. Although we'll see how Bassitt reacts to the pitch clock - Canha too. I expect Baty to be given every chance to win the 3B job - but unlike catcher the backup plan there is fine if he needs more time.
  23. @ExWNYer @Gugny I like the Verlander signing - I think you need a stud pitcher or two to win the WS. But we'll be in the same boat as we were this year hoping the the top 2 don'ty breakdown. I would love to see them sign Rodon, it would bolster the rotation this year and give us longer term rotation stability. We'll have to wait and see how much more Cohen is willing to spend. Lots of areas of concern: Bullpen needs to be rebuilt Nimmo needs to be re-signed or replaced. They are supposedly taking to Benitendi. The guy that wants out of Pittsburgh looks like a better fit. Another power hitter would help - kind of scary that it looks like they may stick with Ruf/Vogelbach at DH. Apart from maybe trading Nido or McCann I don't expect changes at catcher. Alvarez will be given every chance to win the job. Fingers crossed that addresses catcher and power hitter
  24. As a casual observer of college football I thought it was pretty cool what Deion was doing with Jackson State. Unless I'm mistaken he convinced a top HS prospect to go to Jackson State instead of a top ranked school in the past year or so and had played up the building a HBCU angle since he was hired. From that perspective I'm disappointed he's leaving Jackson St.
