To me the game last night came down to fielding. One first baseman didn't make a play with a man on third and the other did. And then the Astro CF made the play of the game.
Pedro Martinez points out the difference in how high McCullers lifts his hands for his curve vs. his sinker.

I had no idea Verlander was 0-6 in the WS. Doesn't change my opinion of him, he's a beast. Read something recently suggesting the Mets should consider him over DeGrom and it was hard to disagree with.
Nothing against Wheeler personally but I feel like the Mets never got his best. How many years was he a Met and never had a defining moment. Plus !@#$ the Phillies!
Fair enough wrt Cashman, if they plan to move on why wait? Just thought it was odd that Boone got a public vote of confidence and Cashman didn't when both are on every Yankee fans mind.
They should 100% resign Judge. Home grown , beloved by the fan base, enormously telaneted. Disappeared in the playoffs and it's unlikely he'll ever replicate his regular season - regardless, he's a player any team should want.
BTW, Go Isles. Nice shutout on Potvin Socks night!
"If it's too loud, you're too old". I've always gravitated towards hard/heavy rock and IMO not many live albums capture the concussive sound of a live show. I always thought Michael Schenker Group's Live at Budokan did - but maybe that's cuz back in the day we had massive speakers at the fraternity house. Just listened to this through earbuds and it didn't have the same gravitas. Still think it captures the essence of so many shows I went to.
Dropping this here because it doesn't deserve it's own thread and I thought hockey fans might appreciate it. Denis Potvin turns the sucks chants from Rangers fans into something humorous and charitable:

Mets fan so there's no way I can root for the Phillies. Plus Wheeler and Thor winning one for a long time rival would make it a tougher pill to swallow. I have nothing against either player, but it would be another reminder of unmet (get it?) expectations.
I'm past the Astros cheating, but it's not like I'll be popping champagne if they win.
I was on the opposite side of a similar coin the other night. Iron Maiden - probably my first arena concert in 25+ years. I just wanted to hear 'the oldies' but the setlist didn't play out like that.
What was your wife's opinion of Rock Lobster? Mine hates it, but my boys (16 and 19) get it. Good times.
My pecking order is Padres, Astros, Phillies, Yankees. But I don't have a soft spot in my heart for any of them - it's more about who I can't stand the least.
Can't believe I was rooting for the Philles, now they can go !@#$ themselves!
It's been fun seeing ex Mets on the remaining playoff teams. Sewald, Kelenic, Montero, Rosario, Jimenez, D'Arnaud, Wheeler, Thor...did I miss anyone?
Shadowboxing when I heard you on the radio (Uh)
I just don't know
What made you forget that I was raw?
But now I got a new tour
I'm going insane, starting the hurricane, releasing pain
Letting you know that you can't gain, I maintain
Unless you say my name
Ripping, killing
Digging and drilling a hole
Pass the Ol' Gold
I'm gonna knock you out
