We're a week and a day away from the opener and one of the top non-pinned threads is about the punter. "These are great days we're living, bros! We are jolly blue giants, walking the earth...." Good times.

You hit on something I've given some thought to - but don't have a well considered answer or solution to. To what extent does/should an NFL team vet a draft prospect? To what extent does/should the NFLPA vet a draft prospect? To what extent does/should the NFL vet a draft prospect? My summary thought is that perhaps if it was a collective effort it would be more feasible financially for the rigorous examinations needed to identify the d-bags not worthy of employment in the NFL. Yeah, I get it - plenty of reasons that's unrealistic/idealistic - and I'm happy to hear them. Part of the motivation for my thought/question is that a few teams knew there was smoke around Araiza, but others (supposedly) didn't. Why should that be on each individual team?

Early Aerosmith was so damn good. For me the line was drawn at 'Draw The Line'. Great song, meh album imo. Rocks is my fave by far. The 'Live Bootleg' album was a good listen too - always loved Tyler's intro to Toys "It's about time..."

Anyone catch Old Timers Day? It was outstanding in too many ways to mention. One of the highlights for me was 79 year old Steve Dillon taking the mound. Had never heard of him - pitched to a 9.64 ERA in 3 games split between 1963 and 1964.

Because if the accusations are unfounded it could be the worst outcome for the guy. Are you familiar with the Duke lacrosse case from 2006? Back then I took the bait and assumed the worst of the accused - turned out that was a big swing and a miss. I have no idea whether that will be the case here but I don't see any need for a rush to judgement based solely on allegations.

I'm trying to understand your point of view. Is punter the only position that would result in a situation like this? Did the situation arise because punter is "the least important position in the NFL? I think your take is utter BS. "Again all of this could have been avoided if they didn't draft anyone" seems more accurate to me.

I think that's a fair point. Lindor is having a great year but I can't think of a defining moment he's had in a big spot. LAMP time: Got lucky this week, me and friends had targeted tonights game for a visit to Citi Field. By Monday it was down to two of us but we decided to go anyway. Lucked into tickets on stubhub at a below-value price 11 rows from the field by 3rd base. As if that wasn't good enough they pushed Jakes start back to tonight. Good times!

Obviously disappointing we didn't get the split against the Braves. But I think that was our first series loss to a divisional opponent this year. Braves aren't going away. 2 of 3 against the Astros was impressive - I was hoping the Astros would help us out more.

lol - a few months ago I went to the Capitol Wheel in DC. The guy getting off (pun intended) had two attractive women with him. Told me the ride was too short and he could only take care of one of them. Thought that was pretty damn funny. But looked before I sat.
