Many many years ago my father was on vacation in London and the older tour guide made a crack that Leicester Square had a silent "C" - just like the American rap music! 😄

Don't give up yet. I don't think Girlschool has been mentioned. Good enough for Lemmy good enough for me.

A Super Bowl will get you through times of no money better than money will get you though times of no Super Bowl. I'll take the Lombardi.

Strange coincidence: last night we were enjoying a cocktail outside. A Beach Boys song came on my playlist and my son's GF mentioned that her father was a fan. Pretty sure the second album I ever bought was Beach Boys Endless Summer. RIP.

Didn't listen Hoobastank much but this one stuck with me:

This is an impossible task so I'll reserve the right to change my choices, but after scanning this thread and giving this a little thought: Godfather II Pulp Fiction Midnight Run Dr. Strangelove Repo Man

I listen to WFAN on and off throughout the year during drive time. It's gotten more gossipy over the years and I always just wanna hear sports talk. Evan is 100% into sports and so even though he can be a whiny sports geek I'd rather hear his opinion as opposed to the guy in the morning who does great impersonations and can be pretty funny but I could care less what he thinks about sports.

I somehow missed this earlier. Totally get it. Our trip to Italy started as a Med cruise that included Italy. When I was informed that the trip would include a stop in France that I could care less about but I wouldn't get to Venice I told wifey there was no way I was going to Italy without visiting Venice. Shifting to Italy we wanted to squeeze in Vesuvius and the Blue Grotto, but time and money prevented both. -

Venice was my favorite, just so unique. My favorite part was just walking around the back streets and canals. Rome blew me away for the history, mind-boggling coming from a country whose history is so short. I'll never forget walking inside the Pantheon, had no idea what it was, just came across it randomly, walked in - and it took my breath away. The city of Florence was my least favorite. Didn't care for the high end retail shops mixed in with the culture. But outside the city was cool. Went to Tuscany (allegedly we were in the room where Machiavelli wrote the Prince) and did a day trip to the Tower of Pisa which was a must. -

The only time I've been to Europe was a pre-pandemic trip to Italy: Rome, Florence, Venice. I was also apprehensive about the language barrier and it wasn't a big deal - except that time I tried to order a vodka tonic, that was a chore and I stuck with wine after that. We actually did a tour and it was fantastic. Our tour included 'free time' in each city - it was a great compromise as the tour got us perks like dinner at the Vatican and bypassing the line at the Coliseum. Plus it took all the guess work out of transportation and accommodations. Anyway, if you decide to go (and you should) I wouldn't dismiss a tour out of hand. -
Ramones had some good covers. Surfin Bird for sure, but one of my faves:

Beautiful, faithful rendition, congrats to you and the band. In case anyone didn't notice I love punk covers of the classics:

Fun fact - I was at the game this past Saturday and guess who was sitting directly in front of me? Evan Roberts. I texted a few friends. The Cowboys fan told me to tell Evan that Tiki is a little b!tch and another friend told me to smack him across the head cuz he's the biggest b!tch ever.

Now that I think about it I knew about Jim Marshall the "Purple People Eater" before I knew about him being wrong way play guy. I remember having a wait/what? reaction when I found out. Probably why I always looked at the play as an amusing moment in NFL history and not a reflection on him.
-
Me too. He was dwarfed by the names Alan Page and Carl Eller in my mind but remembered all the same.

Minnesota Viking legend and member of the vaunted Purple People Eaters. Also known as "Wrong Way" for getting spun around on a fumble recovery and running into the wrong end zone for a safety. I just read and was surprised to learn that the wrong play happened in 1964, less than a year after I was born. Played an amazing 18 years!
