  1. A few years ago I wasted an hour of my life plotting all of the SB final scores against the squares. It was no surprise that 0, 3 and 7 came up the most (iirc) - but what was interesting was how often the "bad" numbers came up for the final score - and often for the winning team. If you look at just the last 5 SB's the numbers were 5/2, 8/5, 3/0, 1/9, 1/0.
  2. I totally understand your sentiment, I don't consider Lynn Swann and Jerry Rice to be equals - but I don't think they segregate the lower tier guys from the upper crust in any way. When you're in, you're in. It's what makes the debate about who belongs and who doesn't interesting to me.
  3. Obviously not. And I completely disagree that there are tiers within the HOF. Once you're in, you're in. IMO, the tiers are (or should be) the barrier for entry - and I'm with you wrt they let too many in. It dilutes the greatness/achievements of players like Montana.
  4. 100%. Thanks for putting into words the way I look at it. For the record Kuechly passes my sniff test for greatness and I would have put him in - but I get the lack of longevity. And I've long thought that Eli is one of the most interesting/debatable candidates. Take away his two SB's and he's not even in the discussion. Ignoring them is ignoring his legacy in the history of the NFL. Fun stuff.
  5. JMO, but I despise the notion that a player might be worthy of the HOF, but not be worthy because it's their first year of eligibility. Which (if any) year would you cast a vote for Eli for HOF?
  6. I'm curious, how old is your son? Feel free to tell me to eff off if you don't wanna share. I've been pretty hard core the past few years that it's the inconsistent refs more than any grand conspiracy - and have been pounding that into my college age boys. It was either last year or the year before that we got royally hosed against the Eagles on a play where Josh got called for grounding on a play where he got horse-collared and there was a Bill receiver clearly in the vicinity. Same year we benefited by a non-call when we mugged Waller in the end zone on the last play of the game. Both calls were game changers, one for, one against. I hate the whiny b!tch attitude of most football fans towards refs but I have to admit that when I saw the replays of all the spots in Bills/Chiefs it made me think that I may be naive.
  7. I thought the same when I saw the Bill Burr/Rich Eisen conversation. I've been a strong proponent of the refs suck for every team equally but as fans we ignore/forget when the bad calls go our way. All of the short first down spots in our last game got my attention in a bad way.
  8. I expect to find a box or two of the ones that didn't make it into the spokes of my Schwinn Sting Ray after my Mom passes away and we clear out the house I grew up in. None are pristine so probably not worth anything beyond the memories - which are fond. Good times.
  9. I can't wait for the Super Bowl to be over. I'll watch but I can't remember ever being this disinterested in the game. I'm hoping after it's over I'll stop dwelling on the Bills last game.
  10. It'll be interesting to see if he bounces back. His deal makes each of the next two years a walk year and he didn't fare well in his 2024 walk year. Based on nothing but my gut/feels I think the walk year and contract uncertainty had a negative impact on his performance. His demeanor last year was completely different than previous years.
  11. I totally get why players flock to Bor-@ass, he's the best at what he does - but some players get screwed and I put Pete in that category. Although in fairness that remains to be seen. Pete turned down $158 over 7. If I understand correctly his new contract is worth a minimum of $30 over 1. Will he claw back the rest in the following 6 years? Maybe.
  12. Do you really believe the owners are more interested in the garbage officiating than increasing their bottom line? Until the first negatively affects the second (it never has) nothing will change.
  13. @Gugny @ExWNYer @Another Fan Rumor has it Pete signed a two year deal (opt out after a year) If true, I'm thrilled to have him back. Also feel bad that Bor-@ss did him wrong.
  14. I think that anyone who dismisses out of hand that something shady may be going on has their head in the sand. At the same time I can readily admit that it's entirely possible they are right. I remember one year in the midst of baseball's steroid era when balls were flying out of the park and MLB claimed it was due to a new manufacturer that was winding the strings in the baseball tighter. Gullible me bought it hook, line and sinker. Roger and the ref associations righteous statements are meaningless to me.
  15. I didn't get past the first two "bad calls". Both looked like obviously good calls to me.
  16. The Bills season is over - I'm done with roller coasters until next season.
  17. The NFL has been living with officiating controversies since I've been watching the game. As far as I know it's never impacted the popularity of the sport. The controversies bring more attention to the sport and I think the NFL's attitude towards this is there's no such thing as bad publicity. The NFL won't address the issues until it affects the bottom line.
  18. Props to the pilot. I imagine it wasn't an easy flight for him either. https://nypost.com/2025/02/01/us-news/american-airlines-pilot-comforts-passengers-on-flight-less-than-24-hours-after-dc-plane-crash-in-viral-video/
  19. If you have to ask you already know the answer.
  20. If you thought about it before hearing about it you were being original! youtube guy had it happening on the podium with the Lombardi in hand as the grand finale of the NFL-orchestrated Chiefs three-peat/Taylor Swift cash-in opportunity. I'm not quite there but I do file it under things that make you go hmmm.
  21. I actually heard it first last night on a youtube video outlining the questionable spots last Sunday. 😀
  22. I have to admit that as I read the article I was trying to make a connection to music and my theory halfway through was the blue man group either had the Rockin' Pneumonia or the Boogie Woogie Flu. Kidding aside, thanks for sharing both. I love sh!t like this! The second to last sentence in the article resonates and could easily send me on another tangent.
  23. 100%!!!!!!!!!! I've posted this before but it's worth repeating. I'm an out of market fan and didn't push the Bills on my sons but it took for both. They grew up during the drought years and I used to joke that turning them into Bills fans was a form of child abuse. It changed dramatically when we watched Tyler Boyd's TD together. Pure joy. When 13 seconds happened I told them that they were officially Bills fans. One of our funniest memories was the missed FG by the Broncos that was negated by too many men on the field. When the call was made it was just me and my youngest watching and we went from high fives and elation to staring at each other intently a few feet apart speechless when the call came in for about 10 seconds. We still laugh about that shared experience. Over the past few years wifey started feeling left out and now she's fully on board the Bills train. She gets more amped up on game day than we do and takes the losses harder. Selfishly I'm thrilled to have the shared experiences (good and bad) with them after spending most of my life rooting for the Bills alone. Good times. Go Bills!
  24. That's effin awesome in so many ways!
  25. My eldest graduated University of Maryland this past semester and me and wifey paid one last visit for a UMD/USC game. Pre-game we walked through a party hosted by a black student group and the DJ was playing Payback. Had never heard it, bad #$@%# @ass!!! Thanks to shazam I added it to a playlist.
