It'll be interesting to see if he bounces back. His deal makes each of the next two years a walk year and he didn't fare well in his 2024 walk year. Based on nothing but my gut/feels I think the walk year and contract uncertainty had a negative impact on his performance. His demeanor last year was completely different than previous years.

I totally get why players flock to Bor-@ass, he's the best at what he does - but some players get screwed and I put Pete in that category. Although in fairness that remains to be seen. Pete turned down $158 over 7. If I understand correctly his new contract is worth a minimum of $30 over 1. Will he claw back the rest in the following 6 years? Maybe.

Prepare For The Bills To Go International Regularly
SinceThe70s replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
Do you really believe the owners are more interested in the garbage officiating than increasing their bottom line? Until the first negatively affects the second (it never has) nothing will change. -
@Gugny @ExWNYer @Another Fan Rumor has it Pete signed a two year deal (opt out after a year) If true, I'm thrilled to have him back. Also feel bad that Bor-@ss did him wrong.

Hard to beat the Chiefs and the refs every post-season
SinceThe70s replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that anyone who dismisses out of hand that something shady may be going on has their head in the sand. At the same time I can readily admit that it's entirely possible they are right. I remember one year in the midst of baseball's steroid era when balls were flying out of the park and MLB claimed it was due to a new manufacturer that was winding the strings in the baseball tighter. Gullible me bought it hook, line and sinker. Roger and the ref associations righteous statements are meaningless to me. -

I didn't get past the first two "bad calls". Both looked like obviously good calls to me. -
The Bills season is over - I'm done with roller coasters until next season.

The NFL has been living with officiating controversies since I've been watching the game. As far as I know it's never impacted the popularity of the sport. The controversies bring more attention to the sport and I think the NFL's attitude towards this is there's no such thing as bad publicity. The NFL won't address the issues until it affects the bottom line. -

Props to the pilot. I imagine it wasn't an easy flight for him either. https://nypost.com/2025/02/01/us-news/american-airlines-pilot-comforts-passengers-on-flight-less-than-24-hours-after-dc-plane-crash-in-viral-video/ -
Should I try and prevent my two year old from being a Bills fan?
SinceThe70s replied to letsgoteam's topic in Off the Wall
If you have to ask you already know the answer. -
If you thought about it before hearing about it you were being original! youtube guy had it happening on the podium with the Lombardi in hand as the grand finale of the NFL-orchestrated Chiefs three-peat/Taylor Swift cash-in opportunity. I'm not quite there but I do file it under things that make you go hmmm.

I actually heard it first last night on a youtube video outlining the questionable spots last Sunday. 😀

I have to admit that as I read the article I was trying to make a connection to music and my theory halfway through was the blue man group either had the Rockin' Pneumonia or the Boogie Woogie Flu. Kidding aside, thanks for sharing both. I love sh!t like this! The second to last sentence in the article resonates and could easily send me on another tangent.

100%!!!!!!!!!! I've posted this before but it's worth repeating. I'm an out of market fan and didn't push the Bills on my sons but it took for both. They grew up during the drought years and I used to joke that turning them into Bills fans was a form of child abuse. It changed dramatically when we watched Tyler Boyd's TD together. Pure joy. When 13 seconds happened I told them that they were officially Bills fans. One of our funniest memories was the missed FG by the Broncos that was negated by too many men on the field. When the call was made it was just me and my youngest watching and we went from high fives and elation to staring at each other intently a few feet apart speechless when the call came in for about 10 seconds. We still laugh about that shared experience. Over the past few years wifey started feeling left out and now she's fully on board the Bills train. She gets more amped up on game day than we do and takes the losses harder. Selfishly I'm thrilled to have the shared experiences (good and bad) with them after spending most of my life rooting for the Bills alone. Good times. Go Bills! -
That's effin awesome in so many ways!

My eldest graduated University of Maryland this past semester and me and wifey paid one last visit for a UMD/USC game. Pre-game we walked through a party hosted by a black student group and the DJ was playing Payback. Had never heard it, bad #$@%# @ass!!! Thanks to shazam I added it to a playlist.

Save the NFL from what? Questionable calls by the refs date back to when I started watching the NFL, probably before. It's never negatively impacted the popularity of the game afaik. Until it does nothing will change. I think the NFL embraces the controversial calls - more attention on the games - and the rule changes are nothing more than lip service to a a gullible and ever-growing fan base. -

My suggestion is to give your daughter the freedom to make her own choice. She'll be exposed to your fandom and it'll either take or it won't. If it takes, she's in for the ride good or bad - that's the gig, like it or not. And while you think you may be protecting her from a lifetime of heartbreak who knows maybe you'd be depriving her of a lifetime of joy. -
Is McD actually compensating for Beane?
SinceThe70s replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Where I might disagree is that regardless of personnel, Van Noy's comment suggests he had come to expect a more aggressive offense. This assumes that the reflection of the HC implies a conservative approach. -

TBH I thought Van Noy's comment was a feather in the coaching staff's cap in that we unexpectedly put the cuffs on Josh. I took Van Noy's comment as a positive for our staff. On the other side of the ball, what resonated with me this year was a Monday night ManningCast - must've been Jets/Rodgers - where Belichik was asked whether the Bills would blitz more after the Jets had problems with pressure the week before - and he said no, the Bills have been doing the same thing for years, relying on pressure from the front and won't change. -

This comment reminded me that Van Noy said that he'd never seen the Bills play so conservatively the week before. -
The bolded mirrors my thinking. I'm probably biased against closers whose careers over-lapped with Mariano Rivera - which admittedly is unfair. DH's are a different animal to me. Kind of like NFL special teamers, the bar is set much higher. Edgar Martinez and Big Papi were no doubters for me. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone else. Off topic, but talk of DH's reminded me of one of the greatest injustices ever: Rafael Palmeiro winning the Gold Glove in 1999 when he played 28 games at first and 128 at DH. Priceless.

I think the NFL has no problem with the controversial plays. It's been going on since I've been watching and it's never affected the ratings or fan interest to my knowledge. The day it affects (or they think it affects) their bottom line is the day they start caring. The confusing/ambiguous rules are window dressing imo.
