  1. So much to comment on here, I'll hit on a few: Congrats to you and your wife, hope you both had a great time in the Caymans! I'd prefer Jake over Verlander mostly cuz he's home grown. But going into next season with Max and either Jake or Verlander presents the same well-founded concerns we had going into last year. My bigger concern about Jake is that he signs with someone like the Braves or Yankees. If it's not the Mets just sign with the Rangers and fade off into oblivion. 100% agreed on Rodon. Have a happy thanksgiving!
  2. Cry out to legions of the brave Time again to save us from the jackals of the street Ride out, protectors of the realm Captain's at the helm, sail across the sea of lights Again and again, again and again, and again Neon Knights!
  3. He does a show on Saturdays with Evan Roberts. Pretty sure it only started up a month or so ago.
  4. Jets fans that I know are talking about Wilson not the missed call.
  5. At the same time I feel like we've been better than expected short yardage at the goal line the past few years - didn't we stop the Browns 5 straight from short and goal a few years ago? Back to topic, I agree that injuries have contributed to the 3rd and long issues.
  6. What would you put the odds at? Do you think they're good?
  7. Pretty much any answer he could have given would have been a better answer. I guarantee that Jets fans would not have rallied around "Bring on the Bills". Better answer? Sure. Still a bad answer? 100%
  8. A close friend was already apoplectic about Zach's performance today (and in general). Then he heard this. Good times.
  9. Brady is an outlier - we all know that. Hanging your hat on drafting a QB in the 6th round is probably not a a great career move for a GM.
  10. Jets had more punts than completions.
  11. That's an interesting way to look at McDermott. I have absolutely no interest in moving on from him any time soon - but I'm not so sure he has the cache you think he has. I think he's viewed as a defense-first coach by most and that could be a non-starter for some.
  12. It's remarkable how hiring coaches with good reputations can be twisted into a negative. If this was the Pats a few years back it would be twisted into something along the lines of "see that - they are so damn good everyone wants to coach there - why can't we be like that!". If folks don't like Dorsey that's fine, time will tell. Claiming we hired competent coaches cuz we didn't trust the Dorsey hire is a stretch.
  13. Does that dog have a blue collar?
  14. … Happy with no teeth Happy here in hibernation Slurpin' on a peach Starin' at the situation Kitty at my foot Meowin' out a conversation Rockin' back and forth That's my only destination … Old man on the back porch Old man on the back porch Old man on the back porch And that old man is me
  15. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting all the blame on Buck, but he doesn't get a pass - you are absolutely right about Alonso and Lindor.
  16. Disagree, I don't even have to look past the NL East to find someone more deserving. Phillies manager took over a team that was left for dead under a respected manager and not only made the post season but had a deep run. I like Buck and don't want anyone else to manage the Mets but 101 wins or not I can't overlook what happened in the last month of the season - it was more Randolph-esque than manager of the year imo.
  17. I posted this elsewhere but have you heard of the Scofflaws? Local band for me. One of their cough-cough popular songs: And if I embedded this correctly an effin awesone cover of a song from the Pee Wee movie:
  18. Have you seen the wording in their respective contracts? If so, please share. If you can't share please explain why there is ZERO chance.
  19. @Gugny @ExWNYer @Another Fan Showalter wins Manager of the Year "becoming just the third person to win a fourth award and the first to win with four different franchises" https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35035742/mets-buck-showalter-named-nl-manager-year Off the top of my head I'm not sure who is more deserving but given what we saw from the team after the Dodgers series I would not have given it to Buck.
  20. @section122 Awesome post, fantastic context! I'm not at all against listening to and considering criticism about any aspect of the team. But all too often the criticism ignores all of the positives - and as your post points out any grounding in reality. Before the season started my Giants and Jets friends were absolutely torching their teams - with expectations of no more than 4 wins. I mocked them but they would have nothing of it. Granted both NJ teams exceeded my expectations - but I don't expect that will be the case come January. Regardless, when I see the gloom and doomers on this site it reminds me of the clownish attitudes of my closest friends.
  21. Clock strikes ten, it's a Saturday night Money in my pocket and it feels all right Not stayin' home, gonna stay out late Gotta hear some rockin' music till it feels just great
  22. Do you remember lying in bed With the covers pulled up over your head Radio playin' so no one can see? We need change, and we need it fast Before rock's just part of the past 'Cause lately, it all sounds the same to me
  23. 100% possible. If nothing else it was addition by subtraction. Put another way, why do you think Nyheim isn't an upgrade over Moss?
