That would be more likely if Jake walks IMO Appreciate your thoughts and comments but comparing Bay to McCann is off the mark. Both were mistakes, one was far more detrimental and costly. McCann's contract won't hold back Cohen's Mets like Bay's did for Wilpon's Mets. As to the farm system: teams like the Braves and Cardinals do a better job than us. Wish I knew why.

Well put. It was a collective failure that started right after the Dodgers series. I kept hoping they'd snap out of the funk but it never happened. Biggest disappoint for me was Jake and Max down the stretch. Hard to reconcile the team we watched this past month vs. the team earlier this year when Nimmo seemed to open every game with a 10 pitch walk or HBP, Pete was crushing, Max was dealing ane the trumpets for Diaz were an event. It will be interesting to see if Jake walks. Nothing I've heard from him makes me think he wants to stay. I think the infield will stay intact next year - with the Mets hoping that Baty becomes the starter at 3rd. They need an upgrade in the OF. Canha is a solid player but not a star. I like Nimmo but he really isn't a CFer. Mets could move Marte back to CF if they don't bring Nimmo back. Seems obvious they'll move on from McCann and go into next year with Nido/Alvarez - also hoping that Alvarez becomes the #1. I expect at least 2 of the 5 starters to not be back. Bullpen is always a merry-go-round - especially with Diaz being a free agent.

If I remember correctly he had a loaded gun in his pants when he went to a club and it accidentally went off. Pretty sure Stevie mocked him as part of a TD celebration.

What a God-awful game this is. And yet I haven't turned it off. Hats off to the NFL.

LOL, I just turned if off for good, it's unlikely I'll ever tune into them again - which is a shame cuz they might get better at it and in general I like the concept as long as it's a game I don't care that much about.

I heard that in addition to Game 1, it also would set DeGrom up for Game 5 against the Dodgers. Max would go game 2 and possibly be available to relieve in Game 5.

We'll never know if Ruth would've eclipsed 61/62 or wherever Judge ends up after tomorrow if he had 8 extra games. What we do know is nobody has eclipsed Ruth's 60 HR's in 154 games. But damn, Judge had a great chance at it! Anyway, In my eyes it's still think a co-owned record. Instead of Ruth/Maris now it's Ruth/Judge.

Hoping we get scheduled for night games against the Padres. Already have a weekend family trip planned that will make any game that starts earlier than 7 tough/unlikely to watch. Hopefully they schedule 8-8:30 starts to appease the Padre fans.

Interesting that you'd go with DeGrom - he could throw 0's for 9 but if the Braves win would be unavailable for the Wild Card. Mets effed up with Alvarez - should have called him up a week earlier and gotten DH at bats. Bringing him up to be the savior against the Braves was a desperation move. But for sure McCann has been a train wreck.

Didn't seem like too much to expect one win this past weekend with the top 3 starting. Mets got swept in a 3 game series twice this year, this past weekend and at home against the Cubs. Question that I've posed to friends: if the Mets sweep today and the Braves lose, would you start DeGrom tomorrow? What if you knew Alcantara was (or wasn't) starting for the Marlins? As far as I know that's still up in the air. EDIT: for the record I'd hold DeGrom out tomorrow

If the Braves win tonight the three against the Nats would be meaningless - I wonder if MLB would consider cancelling a game instead of moving it to Thursday.

After that horrid weekend the Braves got shut out by the Marlins last night - more salt in the wound thinking of what could have been. Mets have not been right since the Dodgers series. I remember thinking that steam-rolling through a soft September schedule would be a detriment once we played stronger playoff teams. Weather down here still sucks, wouldn't want to have to play two today. But I'll still hold out hope for a sweep of the Nats and a sweep by the Marlins - even though I don't believe for one second that either will happen.

Watch him do it on the last day of the season like Maris did to Ruth.

Completely different format this year, 12 teams make the playoffs, 4 teams get byes for the wild card round. 3 game wild card round next weekend - lower seeds won't get a home game. Then a 5 game round, a 7 game round and the 7 game World Series. Due to the lock-out there are a lot less off days this post-season so pitching depth will get tested more.
