  1. Beane has an expanding track record of getting guys who really perform for less than top money. He's not going to go out there and get a guy at any cost. We're finally over those types of contracts and there is no way he's going to put us back there.
  2. It never hurts to listen, and if Josh can't handle advice from people he's not the guy that I think he is. You listen, say thank you and then decide if the advice is something you are going to take on board.
  3. They assign every player a value. Each pick is also assigned a value. If player available > current pick then you act. Beane valued Allen and Edmunds significantly higher than the picks we traded to go get them. It's really not that hard. He went and got the best player available for what he deemed was a bargain. Based on how the season worked out I think he was right.
  4. Other sports like rugby have remote refs with video replay access that quickly communicate to the on field refs if there is an issue with a call. It does not delay the game like the current NFL huddle up process does.
  5. I agree that bad calls are part of the game but the trend towards the same teams/players routinely benefiting from these calls is making the game unwatchable as well.
  6. I'm surprised by the reactions in the thread. I'm all for it. The NFL clearly has preferences for which teams win games. Clearly the rules of the game are not applied evenly. Having LA vs Boston clearly was more marketable than NO vs KC. We had two remarkable close games that were both decided by some inexplicable calls. From the Hogan no catch to the roughing the passer to PI in the Saints game. If some lawyer wants to bring some attention onto this issue then I say go for it. There is a clear rule set that is not evenly applied. I'm tired of refs patting Brady on the but and high fiving him. I'm tired of seeing Jerry Hughes get mauled and them looking the other way. Why not sue and go on Sportcenter to talk about it.
  7. My guess is that LA takes it. NFL wants a champion in that market. Either way I'm not watching the game. The off season has begun for me. That said I'll read the posts about the bad calls here.
  8. I think that there could possibly be a team out there who makes an offer to get him. I believe that Beane is very pragmatic and if he feels that it'd be a net gain for the team he'll make that move. Josh Allen is now our offense, McCoy was the year before. I trust that Beane will do what he needs to do.
  9. I think Shady should be back next year, in fact I'd go as far as to say that I'd want him back. I'm just saying that I'm not 100% that he will be there. There are trades coming as well as free agency and the draft. A year ago I was certain but now I'm only pretty sure. After Fred Jackson's release a few years ago and Thurman going to the Dolphins, running backs are often moved when they start showing signs of age. Shady isn't the process, the process is doing what it takes to build a team that continually improves.
  10. Honestly I'm not 100% that Shady will be back next year so if he is going to make a strong play for a player it might have to just be for himself.
  11. Even as entertaining as #23 can be it still isn't enough to get me to watch Bill Freaking Maher
  12. Shaq may surprise you yet. At the start of last season I'd have agree with you but he showed genuine flashes since then
  13. That's a deal I'd take. There'll still be a quality player at 15 available that will fill a real need. I'm not sure that the Redskins will be comfortable just being one spot above Denver unless they are willing to gamble and wait till draft day and we are on the board. Honestly I think they'll try and do something similar to what the Jets did last year and get a top 3 pick locked in. That way they also get ahead of the Giants and Jags (and Bucs who might go QB as well)
  14. It the Patriots let him go it's because they no longer see the purpose of retaining him. That alone would make me say no as would the hit on Tre and he'd always be a sloppy seconds patriots player.
  15. Disagree. Look at how much Allen improved with Anderson and Barkley. Mentoring is a role that requires coaches and players.
  16. Honestly If I was doing a rebuild first place I'd start is that logo. It's terrible ?
  17. Shady still has wheels left. If we go and fix the OL then Shady won't have to dance around like he did last season He knows that he's approaching the end. I say keep him and add the best young guy we can. Shady still has some left in the tank and is a leader in the locker room. He'll add value for another year, then decide.
  18. Honestly I like it. F the Patriots. This is a team that was #32 in the power rankings and they just beat the heck out of the Texans. Never quit & never bend the knee. Andrew Luck actually sounds confident again in interviews. I'd love to see Frank get a ring as HC he's don a heck of a job.
  19. With the lack of overall talent around Allen and him running for his life not to mention keeping us in games he still managed to find Zay for the longest pass (by air distance) all season. The kid is special.
  20. Hate to say it but I'd take Zay over Sammy. Zay suits up and plays. Sammy is talented as all get out but needs do drink more milk or something. The dude is brittle.
  21. Mahomes has had a great season, no doubt about it but there is no way that trade would happen. I value our roster higher than that. Even Allen and one of those other guys is too high a price. Allen would have much better stats if he had the type of talent around him that Mahomes has.
  22. Have to say this is a great thread. Very interesting to see how the results have changed. Nice job!!
