  1. This year they have had not one but TWO storms with more damage than anything we saw in our ~20 years there. Mothers with infants and toddlers having to be evacuated from their house by boats, places that have never flooded were underwater. It’s crazy stuff, and may just cool that market off for a while.
  2. UPDATE: Our friends on Siesta have found their boat….. in somebody’s back yard after Helene had passed. It almost found its way into their pool, and now they are trying to figure out how to get it back home. St Armand’s Circle is under water, and we have video of waves several feet high crashing thru the house of some friends on Siesta. The water hit the top of the doorframe coming in. What a mess. Keep natural disasters in mind when picking a forever home. .
  3. We have friends who have a place on Siesta Key on the bayside just south of the south bridge. They lived inland and planned to rebuild the thing, but they kept using it for years as a weekly rental, a place to take the boat out and just a place to go when it wasn’t rented. They are very close friends, and it was a rule that whenever it wasn’t rented, it was ours to stay at when we went back to Sarasota. It became almost an annual thing. My son actually had his Covid wedding reception there. Love it!
  4. I should have bolded the second sentence. Why don’t they win more, if they are always so great? Why don’t they advance? If you look at the recent AFC SB threats, you think KC/Bengals/Bills, in some order. I know Bills fans would be all over them to put up or move on if they finished where the Ravens have finished. I wonder if Ravens fans are fed up with the lack of playoff success?
  5. I’ll try. Can you define adverb and sentence for me? I just kinda go by feel. I never learned long division, either. And they still let me on the internet! 😂
  6. I, uhh, think I missed that episode. I’m pretty sure I would have remembered.
  7. I think some people were just trying too hard not to type dominatrix. Check their search history, no telling what you might find. But who am I to judge? 🤷‍♂️ EDIT: Wait! We might be good? Yes I’ve enjoyed it so far, and I understand the “do it in the playoffs” argument. It’s currently September, so I’ll just enjoy this for now. It’s all I CAN do. .
  8. Well, this went sideways quickly! 😂
  9. I would love to have every game on Sunday at 1:00pm EST, but we don’t get everything we want. This is the price of being popular and fun to watch. I can live with it.
  10. I lived in HHI for many years. We would drive to Savannah to fly out, or Jacksonville if we had to. I absolutely LOVE the lowcountry from Jax up to Charleston, but the summers are brutally hot. It was MUCH hotter than living in Florida. Savannah is much nicer than it was 25 years ago. We love NC in the summer and go to Blowing Rock and/or Asheville almost every year. The problem for me is finding the place that has decent weather 12 months a year. Blowing Rock is about 4k ft elevation which makes it great in the summer, not so much in the winter unless you want some crappy skiing. I’ve spent a lot of time pondering where we will be when my wife retires. It’s wasted energy for the most part, because we will be where the son and grandkids are. It’s possible that we split our resources and have a couple smaller places, one where he ends up and one in our ideal location. I would look into Brentwood south of Nashville if I were shopping for a landing spot. Where there is wealth you generally get nice “stuff”, like restaurants and golf courses. The weather isn’t bad and it’s a decent airport. Looking at the bigger picture, several people we know who have lived and travelled everywhere say Spain is one place they’d like to settle down one day. .
  11. I think he knows how to use his (lack of) height as an advantage to get leverage, and those long arms can keep people off of him. Who knows? He may get swallowed up, but I’m excited to see what he can do.
  12. I’m sure he got dinged way too hard for his height. Dwight Freeny felt it was an advantage, and Solomon seems to hold up well against the run. He’s the bendy/twitchy type we need to replace Von eventually. I guess having freakishly long arms and a knack for the game may offset a few inches in height. I had never heard of him before the draft, but I’ve been strangely intrigued by him since. I think he’s going to be fun to watch.
  13. Was that taken at a tailgate where everyone loved him?
  14. I am a firm maybe. Never rule anything out, especially after watching DB’s drop like flies and a LB abort his vacation to come back and play. I pray we are intact all season, but we have a long way to go before the trade deadline of Nov 5, I believe. I don’t pretend to know what he has left in the tank, but Happy explained his season to date above and that was intriguing. I’m good for now, but if it could be done at a reasonable cost, it’s always nice to have good options.
  15. Just ahead of @Gugny? 😂
  16. Everybody LOVES the Ravens organization. Why don’t they win more? If our fans are upset with underachievement, their fans should be apoplectic! I hope we make a statement this weekend against the Ravens and their two time NFL MVP.
  17. My BIL’s best friend lives in Charleston and is in a regular poker game with Maguire. He says he’s a great guy with fantastic and hysterical stories!
  18. But a certain QB who wore 15 did.
  19. Do the microwave stuff! My sister almost burned the house down using oil once. I ran down, opened the slider, grabbed pot holders and threw the pot of fire toward the back yard. I had failed to open the screen door after opening the slider, so the pot of fire bounced back into the house. THAT is how I expect this to go! 😂
  20. In baseball they push HARD to make it your 12 month sport, especially where we were in FL and where weather allows. They would say your kid will fall behind! When they called about All Stars one year to play 2nd base and be the leadoff hitter my son asked “Do I have to? Half the guys are standing around, and the other half are sitting.” He went on to more soccer, football, basketball, golf, tennis, weight lifting and all kinds of other things, and the baseball folks would have taken him back in a skinny minute if he wanted to play baseball again. It’s an environment that could be VERY easy to burn out in. It’s more than a sport, it’s like it’s own culture, from my experience. And at times it’s cult-like. I guess AAU sports of every type are similar, but grass roots youth baseball was wearing with the pressure to get more deeply involved. They were like they were on a damn Mission!
  21. As much as I hate to say it, it makes the Cowboys accomplishments even more remarkable. 😂 I heard a kid speaking at a rehab facility once saying “I was the Designated Drunk Driver. I didn’t know why everyone else was so bad at it.” He represented the Cowboys to me. He had a full ride to play at Penn State before his “detour”, so maybe he made it to the Cowboys one day. Some of the youngsters may not have heard of the Cowboy’s White House back in the day. Everything is bigger in Texas, I hear.
  22. I’m a bit surprised you didn’t just sense it, somehow. 🤷‍♂️
  23. It’s a great problem to have. You draft hoping that one day they will pan out and you have to make the tough decisions. Know which positions are priorities, and just keep drafting a RB every couple years.
