  1. There is only one place I go to that asks for a card up front. It’s somewhat annoying, but it guarantees some payment, and it gives them your name. EDIT: To be fair that’s at bars around town. If I’m at a tourist joint or meat market it might be different. .
  2. I didn’t hear a gun go off.
  3. In college it was a bounced check tacked up on the back wall behind the bar. It might have been for about $8. 😂
  4. I did that at a bar once. Only once as far as I know. 🤷‍♂️ I paid the next day, and no, it was not $850.
  5. They bought the team a decade ago. A stadium had been needed for some time, and it’s finally coming out of the ground. Thank you for keeping the team “home” where they belong.
  6. That’s a lot of draft picks, my friend. I wouldn’t be anywhere near that range, personally. No, it’s a NEW frustrated diva WR.
  7. So….an open faced appetizer? Do you cut it into cubes? Is it toasted?
  8. I can barely accept it on a club sandwich, but that is a thing. On a PBJ it sounds like a way to fill a tummy. I might have done that in college, I must admit.
  9. You appear to have a full size cat, rivaling the dog behind him. I’m not a cat guy. I think I was married when I learned my mother really wasn’t allergic to cats. 😂 .
  10. Seriously? I mean, what the heck are you going to do, anyway?!?! What would they do if some fool threw a “Tom Brady Device” over the fence? .
  11. This came up in a conversation with friends this morning…..some condos and planned developments have pet restrictions. It’s usually about yes/no/dog/cat and how big. Some places have “breed restrictions”. How on God’s green earth are they going to enforce that? Are we doing genetic testing on each dog? How much is too much? I’m not saying this restriction is right or wrong, but I do think it’s kinda dumb to even try something unenforceable.
  12. Any dog can snap and be dangerous. Not every dog will have lethal results. It’s not only Pitts, but they are among the most powerful. The only dog that ever bit me was a schnauzer. Damn yappy thing just jumped up and bit me on the thigh thru my pants, breaking the skin. We were about 12 floors up and I wanted to punt the thing off the balcony, but I thought our friend might have frowned on that. I was angry, but I was never in fear for my life. . .
  13. I’m a bit confused. I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t laugh at that.
  14. I think I read about this. They tried, but they could never get a confession out of @Sweats. Used every trick in the book! Seriously, if the problem is related to a potential electrical fire, get people off the damn plane. If you try to hold me on a plane on the tarmac for 4.5 hours, it might get ugly.
  15. During college my daughter-in-law spent some time in Australia. That’s a very long flight! On the way there the man next to her was very quiet for a long time. A very long time. She doesn’t like to talk about it much. 😂
  16. Sarasota is already saturated, and I can’t imagine what Venice would be like with a bad storm surge. Such an underrated and quaint little area…..and I can’t even begin to guess how far inland there would be feet of water because of the way it lays out with all the waterways. They used to say the old people live in Sarasota, and their parents live in Venice. 😂 I mean, it’s not like you can even eat any more! You’d starve to death for sure! .
  17. That’s the kind of news we need! The weatherman doesn’t give you that kind of critical data to form a basis for a prudent decision.
  18. First of all, I often curse when my phone rings these days. There is nobody I really want to talk to. It’s also rarely good news, more like my mother fell again. If you’re not in my contact list, I’m not answering. They virtually never leave a voicemail for me to delete.
  19. Agreed on the storm surge. We still have friends and family in Sarasota. We saw videos of waves hitting the header crashing in thru a sliding glass door and washing the furniture away from Helene. My DIL’s childhood friend had to be rescued by boat from her house with a 2 year old and a new born. It had never flooded there before. They have already had TWO storms like that. What a rough year down there. Hopefully people had the sense to get the hell out of the way! Good luck everyone.
  20. We lived in Sarasota for almost 20 years. If you include Hilton Head Island prior to that, we lived in hurricane territory for 30+ years. Sarasota already this year has had not one but TWO storms with FAR more damage than anything we ever experienced. Places that never flooded were under water. Young mothers with infants being rescued from their homes in boats. Waves crashing thru houses. I looked this morning and saw that the track has moved south from Tampa, putting a bullseye on Sarasota yet again. We still have friends and family in the area, and we had considered moving back one day after the wife retires. I am most concerned about the well being of our friends, but I’m also curious to see how this affects the real estate market. I don’t mean that in a heartless way at all, it’s just that the area has had an incredible surge in prices. People have been buying and investing in real estate there for a few years, forgetting that this is part of what they are buying into. It literally comes with the territory, but a few light storm years and people forget. .
  21. ….don’t forget what happens after a Mighty Taco.
  22. My FIL didn’t have any of the debt, the Navy came along when he was short of graduation and said “close enough.” He was actually on the USS Missouri when the peace treaty was signed. They then took a victory cruise around the world for a year or two. What a great guy.
  23. I think he passed by being “perky”. Is that a medical term?
  24. That was about as much fun to watch as I expected…… The little voice in my head asked why I would want to subject myself to that again. I should have listened.
