This guy made a fortune based largely upon a play in college where he wasn’t even blocked.

First things to look for when the schedule comes out
Augie replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall
If they play in Dublin, I want to be in front of the camera!!! Are we home or away week #1? I was at the first game at the Ralph, I’d like to be at the last home opener. I’ll be at the Atlanta game, a “home game” for me. I’ve never been to a game in Charlotte and Bills fans here have mentioned that as a good away destination. So much depends on the dates. -
I LOVED the NBA back when we had the Braves. I was pissed when they left, but watched thru the Jordan years. When our kids were playing AAU and we were traveling we’d bribe them, good behavior with our friends and we go to the NBA game tonight. About 3 minutes in one night on a Tuesday in Charlotte my scrappy AAU PG turns to me and says “they’re not even trying.” Maybe now that college hoops has gone to hell in a hand basket I’ll give it another try, but I doubt it. If they don’t care enough to try, why should I care at all? I don’t know who they are, gut at least they try in college. The NBA is more like a play at the theater than a sport far too often. I think I just gave up my “other team”. It was always Bills first, followed by my college hoops team. Now, with coaches and players moving every year for the best deal they can get, I can do without it. My college hoops board is now only for miscellaneous topics. (I’m sure they are glad to hear that.) My apologies, and I thank you sincerely. That probably would have run me about $200 with a therapist.

For me it got to the point that by noon on Sundays I’d get a sick feeling in my gut about work the next day. I didn’t tell anybody, but I used my weekends for what felt like forever to drive an hour each way, Saturdays and Sundays, to get a license I needed to get out of banking and change industries. I went on the have the happiest 13 years of my working life. Yes, there were some sacrifices, but it was awesome! My wife was getting nearly that sick of her work conditions and planned to retire in 13 months when she hit retirement age because conditions were so bad. Everybody wanted out, but if you quit you lose all kinds of retirement benefits. Conditions are so bad because everybody is nervous about cutbacks and being able to do the work without support. God is good, and her position was eliminated so they will pay her NOT to work much of that time and she is stress free. .

…and what do you do if your wife is the deceased stripper? This is all very confusing. 🤷♂️

You are supposed to have a large TBD sign on your dashboard when you arrive. That’s how they keep track of us and get us to our special section.

….and then he caught the ball! Repeatedly! Who saw that coming???

I worked with someone who had a deer come up to the slider at the back of their house…..at full speed. Crashed right thru and started trashing the house. She grabbed the kids and ran out the front door. Not the way she expected that morning to go.

Keep it undone?

Is this all over one pic? When I worked at UPS I think the limit was 50lbs.

….Chevy Chase?

He’s not kidding. I’m Christopher Lloyd.

Not to derail things, but that’s why I wear Bills gear and not jersey’s. I don’t know those people.

Good observation. It was a different time. Other than on the golf course or in the hospital, I never once saw my FIL without a tie. He was more old school than my father. Ohh, and they learned how to make more money from us. There is certainly that. But that is a decision we make. .

For those who sit in the lower bowl, where’s your ideal view?
Augie replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Our seats were the last row of the lower bowl, backing directly against the suites. Not only were we covered, but the people in the suite almost always opened it up so we got some climate control and some peeks at their monitors. That confused the wind as much as possible. I want to go see those seats if/when I get back for a game this year. They were not on the aisle, maybe 1/3 in, but they were sweet seats and full of great memories! I must say, that only partly made up for our seats under the seam in the roof at the Rockpile. When it rained the water collected and poured down on us like it was shot out of a fire hose! 🤣 . -

Augie replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like to be at least 20 rows up, and I will even pay extra to be on an aisle if I was given a choice. I don’t mind getting up and down for people, but I HATE feeling trapped in the middle of a row. -
My sister lives in Appleton, and that’s where the Bills stayed when they played there a few years ago. It was kind of cool watching the team come off the buses at the hotel. It was also cool how I kept hearing “welcome to Wisconsin” as I went around town wearing my Bills gear.

My sister lives in Wisconsin and knows someone who paid $30 for a hot dog and a beer and $120 to park. You don’t think we should share that experience? Nashville and some other spots looked cool, with a lot of things around to do besides the draft. Green Bay seemed to offer a big parking lot. I politely passed on the offer to visit.

And may I add Lowell Keller. A close colleague and a very dear man. -
Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky
Augie replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bump and thank you. This was FAR more interesting than the highlight stuff. I’m hoping and praying this is more that he was getting healthy and he’s playing like 2023 than he’s a contract year kinda guy. If he is healthy and motivated, he truly can be a monster. He seems like a great guy. We deserve some breaks! -
My sister saw both the Beatles and the Stones very close together back then. I just remember her and her friends running up and down the street practicing their screaming before the Beatles concert. She said you couldn’t hear a damn thing from the Beatles at the concert. Shocking! 😂 Her husband was at Woodstock, and they have some great stories to tell.

Thanks, that brought back a lot of memories. I don’t think I was at that game, but what an enormous experience game day was for this young kid. It’s interesting, but the scenes from outside the stadium seem to strike a chord even more than the stuff inside the stadium. Walking up to those gates felt like the Roman Colosseum to me. On a trip back a few years ago a buddy took me by the still standing gates. Like so many things from your youth, it’s not quite what you remember, but it’s still special.

We had friends down the road from our first house who had a woodpecker issue. The damn thing pecked thru the siding and was living in their attic. They covered up the hole with some metal, and he pecked another hole right next to it. It was a big red headed pileated woodpecker, and he intended to stay. We were downstairs cooking out one night and talking about the problem, and they asked “do you want to go upstairs and see Woody?” It was at that point in re-telling the story that our close friend turned to her college age daughter without missing a beat and said “for the record, the answer to the question is ALWAYS no.” Perfect timing. We did go up and see him looking very comfortable as King of the Attic. Big ol’ bird!

I’ve had hoops ankle sprains where I thought I might need an ambulance that were fine in a few days. I’ve also had what I thought were minor issues that would last over a month. Go figure. 🤷♂️
