  1. Yeah, like I said, the rules is rules...it would be BS to change it after the fact.
  2. This! Nobody is crazy about the "Bills in Toronto" BS...but we understand it...I am not sure that losing a game to Toronto every season is any worse for the teams long-term prospects in WNY as adding another game in December that the team can't sell out, because the product on the field is so lousy. If I was a long time season ticket holder (I haven't been since the late 80's) I would probably be relieved that I don't have to shell out for that 8th, awful game...at this point, we are going on a decade plus of games in December being as meaingingful as games in July & August. Now, if the Bills were actually winnig I would feel a bit differently.
  3. Joe...say it ain't so! Awesom thread that was!
  4. Maybe CBS Sports thinks the guy in your leauge who has Gore is a Bills fan? There has to be some explanation... you being in CT, they probably figured you are a Pats fan...so everyone should be accustomed to that BS! I could maybe understand it if somebody else fumbled the ball, and Gore ran it in...but that is a terrible rule....we used the CBS Sports site one year, as I recall, and it kind of sucked...as does ESPN. Either way, doesn't your commisioner have the power to put in his own scoring rules? I know, you wouldn't have the incentive to want it to be changed at this point (and I don't blame you), but maybe something to consider next year. EDIT: I had Gore on my team this year (bounced in the first round of the playoffs), so I checked NFL.COM (our leauge sponser), and they gave Gore credit for the TD, but according to them (it is the NFL) it was Kaepernack who fumbled, not Gore. So, (not that I agree with it), but I could understand a little more how the rules could be convoluted so that Gore doesn't get the TD points. Let's just say a QB passes the ball from his own 1 yard line, completes the pass to the receiver at the 50, and then gets the ball punched out of his arms...one of his teammates picks up the fumble, and gets a TD. How many yards do you give him? Does he get the whole 99 yards and the TD, or just the yards from where he picked it up? In our league, I always hate it because if you have a WR or RB who returns a kick for a TD, you don't get any points for it...those points are credited to the special teams/Defense. I know, that makes more sense..still frustrating. A couple of years ago, when Devin Hester was playing offense, defense and ST, there was a some flap over scoring for him..much more understandable than your situation I know...
  5. I would be happy with Polian or Whaley....but I am not one of those who thinks Nix necessarily deserves to be fired...unless he intends to bring Gailey back, of course. In the end though, the idea of Whaley kind of excites me more than the other options. Of course, there is no proof that he would be any better than what we have had for a while, but I really think this team could use an infusion of youth from the top end. Of course, Polian is a great name from our past, but there is some evidence out there that he wasn't really on top of his game the last few years in Indianapolis. To me, brigning him back would be contingent on how much power he would want to hand over to his son...as GM, or VP of Football Operations, I would be fine...but not a Chris Polian as GM deal.
  6. Listening to Steve Young and Trent Dilfer go off on the Jets last night, on the ESPN post game was pretty remarkable..Young kept saying stuff, and then tried to real himself in...but then would go out there again...he slammed Sparano, Rex and Sanchize pretty good... almost had me feeling a little bad for them...almost...
  7. Hey Rico...a clip of "Patty Grifffin and driver" at the Continental Club this past weekend...150 maximum! Wish I could have been there! Not sure how I feel about this version of a Zep classic..but cool nonetheless! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDjl0D-3Fc0
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6W7o9MzUv8
  9. Still the definitive version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVzRDJrOAi8
  10. I thought Lee Evans would do well away from Buffalo...I admit it...what do I get? Brad Smith? Who is he? Are we talking Sabres now? Not a chance he steps down...he would have to quit. I like Gailey personally (what I know of him), but how often does it happen in pro-sports (other than Mike Mularkey) that a coach steps down, voluntarily... other than the odd exception where a successful coach (Dungy, Cowher, etc) steps down, or leaves to go to another job...if Gailey is a "stand-up guy", then he believes in what he is doing, and believes that he is close to turning things around... he will have to be fired. If I am wrong, I will be back for my helping of crow.
  11. No disrespect to 3rdning, but I though "pew pew pew" was pretty funny....
  12. 1994 Honda Accord.... 186,000 miles, still going strong...it doesn't look great, but it still runs fine....not ready to give it up any time soon...
  13. I actually thought this season was a little better than the previous couple...though still some major problems....the story was so convoluted, I am still trying to figure out what the point of the whole Quinn storyline was all about, or why any of it was necessary...I like the whole idea of Dexter dragging his sister down (the only person he seems to have truly "loved"), just wonder if he will go one step further and surrender himself, to clear her name...as bad as the acting is most of the time on this show (and the ultra-thin characters) Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) has moments where she doesn't over-act, and she pulled off the whole guilty conscience thing pretty well... One major problem I had, with the second to last episode: didn't Deb or Dexter give any thought, before they arrested her, as to what Hannah McKay might have to say to the police about Dexter and Deb? Dexter was going way out on a limb to assume she wouldn't divulge their secret...her whole "do wathca gotta do" philosophy seemed to have missed Dexter on that one...oh well...she lives...I suspect, in the end, either Dexter redeems himself by surrendering (not likely I know) or Hannah McKay somehow takes the fall for him in the end...they are keeping her around for a reason....oh well...at least LaGuerta finally served a purpose on the show!
  14. Interesting article on this very topic: http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/15/world/asia/china-us-school-attack/index.html
  15. I watched the game at a bar...I did see the hold on Carrington...my buddy was screaming about it immediately... Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere (too many redundant threads on Mondays), but what was the deal with Lynch getting in Spillers' face when CJ ran out of bounds on the Seahawks sideline? Couldn't tell if it was friendly or gooniness on Marshawns' part. He was laughing it up afterwords...anyone hear anything about what went down on that play? Incidentally, I liked Lynch too...but call me nuts, I was pretty happy with McGahee too!
  16. Yeah...haven't really seen a lot of Rubio play, but when I have, there is always something fun about watching him... a little Pistol Pete in that kid...hope the TWolves reap some benefits from him. Speaking of the NBA (didn't want to start another NBA thread here, as there seems to be little tolerance for it in these parts) did anyone catch the end of the Celtics/Rockets game on Friday night, ESPN...as if that day wasn't tough enough...just watch this clip of Kevin McHale and KG hugging after the game...McHale (maybe my all-time favorite Celtic) just lost his 23 year old daughter to lupus...I was pretty numb on the whole Sandy Hook incident Friday, but it all came crashing in on me watching McHale...I don't have kids, I can't fathom how tough it would be to lose one, at any age....clip is at the bottom of the story.... http://www.weei.com/...motional-moment
  17. I am not sure I agree with this. Jauron was just as stubborn about playing guys, even when everyone in the stands, or watching at home, could see that someone else was better...the only way guys could crack the lineup under DJ was through injury.
  18. I recall many more people (like me) being pissed when Gailey was hired...but, many (like me) were delightfully surprised after his first season...but we have been stuck in the mud with him at the helm ever since. It was more a handful of NFL insider types (though not all) who were saying this was a slick move by the Bills...and being fans who don't want to feel like we are getting sold a bill of goods, once again...we wanted to believe them. And, even the biggest Gailey haters would have to admit, he made the team much more exciting to watch, particularly during the 2010 season...as much as I am down on Gailey, I still wouldn't put him in the same class as Dick Jauron, for just really awful game day coaches.
  19. All said, I wish for something much bigger, but at the very least, new coaching is needed. I can live with Nix, though I wouldn't be upset if he was canned...I think he has done a credible job of trying to improve the talent on this team...and after another drubbing it may not sound right, but I think the talent is better...we just still have too many weaknesses in key spots...now, I would prefer some younger blood, but I don't want to wish for too much...
  20. I watched the whole damn thing...like I do every week. I go to a Bills Backers bar to watch every week, and enjoy hanging out with other Bills fans for a few hours every week...unfortunately, as every year, our group of "die-hards" dwindles each season, as the losses pile up. We usually start out about 40-50 strong...by the end of the season, we are down to the same 10 folks who (like me) never miss a game...next week will be a big test for me...literally everyone who braved the Seahawks/Bills game at the bar says they will be elsewhere next week, for the holiday....I may be the only one there, unless some Dolphins fans show up...I don't go back to Buffalo until Christmas eve! I don't think he is expecting praise... just wondering why everyone who doesn't care any more feels the need to start a thread about how they don't watch any more, cuz the HC, QB, GM, or whatever, sucks...there are about 300 of those threads right now.
  21. The guy who killed her took his own life...no judgment day here on earth.
  22. He didn't have a great game today...but I think he has shown some signs that he has some game...and all those "drops" were not of the "great pass, no hands"variety... it happens... just another miserable performance all the way around from this team. This x 1billion! I honestly think, with a competent coach, this team, with the same talent, could be 8-6 or 9-5 right now. Fitz is not an upper echelon QB... but despite all evidence to the contrary, Gailey keeps calling games as though Fitz is the second coming of Joe Montana. A good offensive coach knows how to hide his weaknesses....Chan just exposes them, making it all that much easier to beat this team. I am ashamed to say, I really thought, after 2010, the Bills might have fallen into some dumb luck with the hiring of Gailey....but now I realize, there was no luck involved, just dumbness. For some reason, I don't loathe Gailey as much as I did Dick Jauron after three seasons....but he is pretty close... it's not the man, just his performances on Sunday afternoons.
  23. Was at that show too...as well as the Maple Leaf Gardens show, which IIRC, was the last stop on that tour...Clash was awesome too! If I had a scanner I could show you some great pics I took at that show... Btw- the "3rd farewell tour" thing was just kind of a joke...I have been on a bit of a "Freaks And Geeks" bender...there is one episode that revolves around all the "freaks" going to see the Who on that tour (although they got it wrong and said it was 1981)...throughout the episode they keep saying things like "we gotta see them...it is their last tour"...just kind of funny... Fantastic song...that whole album is great...but "Slit Skirts" is just a great ode to getting old, but not too old to realize it... "slit skirts slit skirts, Jeanie isn't wearing no slit skirts...I ain't wearing no ripped shirt" Good call.. haven't listened to that album in years...might have to drag it out..screw the Christmas music!
