  1. My order of preference: 1- Bengals (I have empathy for this team/city and their butt ugly uniforms and "terrible" ownership) 2- Broncos (Have always kind of liked the Broncos, since the Reeves/Elway years) 3- Redskins (Another team I have liked since a kid...probably the coolest unis in the NFL most weeks...love RGIII) 4- Baltimore (I have always wanted them to win more than they have in the post season, because I like the way they traditionally have played football (dominant Defense, ground and pound offense)..but this years team is a far cry from what they were) 5- Atlanta (I have no strong feeling for this team, but they have never pissed me off!) 6- Green Bay (Kind of sick of them...but, nice story..isn't it?) 7- Indianapolis (A little too Lucky...but sometimes you have to create your own Luck!) 8- Houston (I live in Texas...people from Texas think it is their god given right to be winnners...shut up front runners!) 9- Minnesota (They play in a Dome...and they are the only team to be 0-4 in Super Bowls...lets keep it that way!) 10- San Francisco (Like most things about this team, but their head coach seems like kind of a douche..a successful one, but a douche nontheless!) 11- Seattle (see #10, and delete the word "seems") 12- New England (no explanation needed) So, I guess, when it shakes down, I am pulling for a Bengals/Redskins Super Bowl...
  2. Was Mike Holmgren ever fired as a head coach? I don't think so...
  3. As a big Rob Riddick fan, I agree Freddy is better...but Riddicks' situation was completely different than Jacksons'. Riddick never went into any season expected to be the #1 guy...and he had a lot of injury problems...he spent his first five years on the Bills roster as a special teamer, or injured...3rd or 4th on the RB depth chart when healthy..he even missed an entire season to injury...his one most productive season, 1986 he performed pretty well..averaged over 4 yards a carry with about 160 carries, and about 50 receptions for 400 yrds...he was pretty Freddy-like...but not for as long...also was a pretty key contributer in 1987 & 1988. Like Jackson, the guy was a really good short yardage and goal line back...love 'em both...have to keep Freddie.
  4. I have serious doubts that the Bills are interested in Jim Haslett...but if they are interested, it would be a clear indication that Mr Wilson is serious about handing the team completely over to Russ Brandon. Mr Wilson is not very fond of Haslett.
  5. While there may be some truth to what you are saying, what are your alternatives? There are only so many "proven winners" available...and lets face it, most of them aren't dying to come to Buffalo right now. Hiring Whisenhunt, IMO, isn't as puzzling or controversial as hiring Chan Gailey was. I am not saying I am all in for Whisenhunt, but I don't think he is the worst candidate name being mentioned right now. A lot will come down to what sort of staff he can put together...not everything will be exactly the same for him in Buffalo, as it was in Arizona (assuming he is hired)...it is a game of variables...he wasn't a complete disaster in Arizona, and is credited by many there with "changing the losing culture" in Arizona... sure a great amount of that success came with Kurt Warner, but you have to start somewhere...hopefully he learns from mistakes. He has never had the running back tandem that the Bills would have, at his disposal, and Larry Fitzgerald might not look too bad, winding down his career in the red, white, and blue!
  6. Funny...but a few weeks before the season ended, I had a subconscious feeling that Ken Whisenthunt would end up being the Bills head coach.... Forgive me if this was posted elsewhere in this monster thread..but here are some opinions from Cardinal fans...while I don't think many are sad to see him go, there seems to be some respect for him: http://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2013/1/2/3827220/bills-fan-looking-for-info-on-whisenhunt#comments While I am not super familiar with the day to days of Whisenhunts' tenure in Arizona, one of the biggest critiques amongst Card fans seems to be that he got "too involved" in personnel decisions...he was very much behind the move to trade for Kolb.
  7. Over the years, I developed a respect for the Broncos, and normally find myself rooting for them once the Bills are (sadly) irrelevant for the season...when Josh McDaniels was in Denver I hated them...please no Josh McDaniel...there are fewer big douches to walk a sideline...
  8. Well...I am not saying I agree with the "moneyball" principle for football, but Russ Brandon worked for the Florida Marlins, prior to the Bills...the franchise won a World Series using "moneyball"...and another one later... I am skeptical...
  9. Won't pretend to know who the best two choices are, but I would prefer a younger guy, with some experience...honestly, would like Lovie or Whisenhunt. Charlie Casserly, on NFLN, just said that he thought Lovie would be a great fit for the Bills, especially if he brought along Rod Marinelli with him...
  10. I find it hard to believe that John Gruden would be spending Christmas in Buffalo...but you never know! Either way, anything that would get him off MNF is cool with me!
  11. Bottom line is, most of the "jerks" here, on TBD, were all happy once Lynch was traded...time changes perceptions it seems. He was an off-field distraction, and was, seemingly always one false step from being suspended. There is no evidence (and I have my serious doubts) that Lynch would have been near as productive had he stayed in Buffalo, as he has been in Seattle. And yeah, I bet he would have had more off the field issues in Buffalo than he has in Seattle. Honestly, I always liked Lynch, and I was plenty content with Willis McGahee before him...but stop this BS that everyone knew how good Lynch would be in Seattle. Gailey would have not been able to handle him, and we would have a stadium 2/3 full of people who can't stand him...it is sort of the reverse CJ Spiller phenomenon we have seen with "Bills Nation"...as fickle as any fan base there is.
  12. Funny, I remember somebody (one of the talking heads) saying the same thing, during the campaign, on FOX, and Sean Hannity went ballistic on him. Ann Romney, oddly, on more than one occasion, (normally in non-traditional campaign appearances, such as Leno) would say things that would make you wonder what his motivation for running really was.... she sounded as if he felt like it was his duty, or calling to run... it never sounded like he wanted to run... only time I got the sense that he "wanted it" was during the debates.
  13. I find it shocking that the Iowa Supreme Court came to that ruling...
  14. Thanks...I needed that!
  15. I think there are a couple regulars here who think women are worthless at any age.
  16. What you can't stand (I am guessing) is country pop...believe me, I love country music (or what I consider country music), and I hate that stuff too....it really has as much to do with country music as Madonna does with Rock-n'Roll. Which all goes back to the notion that categories don't work effectively, in music...unless you want to miss out on a lot of really great stuff. I love the kind of country that the Dead seemed to appreciate ("Mama Tried" Merle Haggard, "She Thinks I Still Care" George Jones, etc etc...they have covered a lot of vintage honky-tonk stuff)...but you won't find me downloading the new one from Rascal Flats or Taylor Swift...
  17. I am pretty sure he killed himself. I think Esme's father would have liked to have a moment with him...hard to believe it has been almost a year.
  18. Case officially closed today.. http://www.kvue.com/home/Esme-Barrera-update-184289361.html
  19. On of my best friend's is a Bears fan...to hear him talk, the Bears are the most snake bitten team when it comes to injuries, in the history of the NFL. One thing I will say, because the Bills have not been competitive in so long, I have noticed (especially since Gailey has taken over) that we seem to send more guys to the IR than we used to. It seems the minute a guy strains a muscle the Bills send him to IR. In regards to McKelvin...me too, I hope he stays...but I think some other team is going to sign him to a bloated contract that the Bills won't match. I really like the kid...we all know he has had his rough moments, but the kid seems to have more natural talent at that position than any DB they have drafted in the last decade...I think with better coaching he might have developed and refined his game faster...I am just hoping Gilmore (and we) doesn't suffer the same fate in Buffalo. I went to see the Bills play the Giants last year, in Jersey. We sat behind the Bills bench. Morrison was actually dressed for the game...I don't think he moved on the sideline the whole first half...and I am pretty sure he didn't see the field for even one snap during the game... In regards to Kirk Morrison: why? A guy who has been part of the organization for almost three full seasons who can't crack the lineup, even during times when the LB was struggling horrilby...their vetran depth guy was standing on the sidelines in street close...I like the guy (he is good on the radio) but I just don't understand keeping a guy who you would never, ever, ever (it seems) want to dress for game...is there no young, free agent linebacker with a little upside out there? Crap, I honeslty would rather have them re-sign Aaron Maybin than waste more time on Morrison. I just don't get it...all I can figure is that he must be a hell of a locker room leader....
  20. Yup..without country music you don't have rock-n'roll...the Dead, as much as any "rock" band were influenced, and incorporated elements of country music into their sound...I am not a huge Dead fan (though I don't hate them at all), but the stuff of theirs I like the most is that country induced stuff. Even colored pioneers of "rock n'roll" (Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Louis Jordan, etc) incorporated white country music into their sound... country + blues= Rock N' Roll.
  21. If the show had eneded with Nancy Botwin gettting arrested at the airport, that would have been a great finale for the show...I actually liked the whol Meixco excursion....less Kevin Nealon, and Elizabeth Perkins would have been nice too...nothing against the actors, they just had nothing to do with the show...
  22. The last two seasons of "Weeds" were painfully bad....the last two minutes of the final episode were the only redeeming moments of the last season....oh yeah, and Mary Louise Parker skinny-dipping...the ony two redeeming moments of the final season...do yourself a favor, don't bother trying to catch up on it. I noticed that too, and I think (maybe I'm wrong) they were trying to show how awkward Deb (kind of a tom-boy) was being dressed up like a "girly-girl"...it was kind of true to character I thought.
