Great photo gallery from BBills.com featuring all the Bills Pro-Bowlers from 1974-present! I had almost forgot about the great Mike Schneck! http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/photo-gallery/Bills-in-the-Pro-Bowl-1974-Pres/40597916-c218-41bc-b850-ec0a13ef33ed

Blizzard of '77 - 36 Years Ago Today - Where Were You?
Buftex replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I remember my brother and I shoveling driveways for the old ladies in the neighborhood, until we could barely walk any more... I used to love raking in the extra bucks (supplement the 3 paper routes I had)....at night, after thawing out, we had marathon sessions of table top rod hockey (let the jokes fly)...it was the old school game with the flat, 1-D players...it came with the Canadians and Maple Leafs. My brother was always good at painting models and things like that, so he was able to transform the Maple Leafs into the '75 Sabres... we would play the whole Sabres schedule... winner of any given game got to pick which team they were for the next game...my brother was a much better athlete than me, but I was much better at rod hockey.... we kept stats for all the Sabres players...IIRC, Gilbert Perreault finished with about 150 goals! Good old days... We lived in Tonawanda...we got it bad, but probably not as bad as some of the outlying areas. I used to love snow days...what was awesome that year was that we had only been back in school from Christmas break a short time, and then had another week off! Fond memories of the "Blizzard of '77"! -
New GM Idzik 'comfortable' with Sanchez staying on Jets
Buftex replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Heard Archie Manning (fwiw) saying today that the "Jets have a franchise QB with Mark Sanchez". I don't get it... -
Can we just go back to red helmets already.
Buftex replied to r00tabaga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the switch to the white helmets was probably the first thing the Bills have done, in years that almost everyone liked...so switch them back to red, so we can enjoy the Pro Bowl more? I don't think so. -
I think you are being sarcastic... there are only so many "superstars" to go around, but good teams manage to find ways to win, and clinch playoff spots with a bunch of good players too. Not sure anyone is suggesting it is "all Ruff's fault". But, it is that old sports cliche "you can't fire all the players". Personally, I think this team is talented enough that they shouldn't be missing the playoffs every other year... it isn't all Ruff, it isn't all the players, it isn't all Darcy...it isn't even all ownership. However, you are stuck with the players you have (for the most part), the core isn't going anywhere, the GM was just re-signed to a new long-term contract... if you keep losing or underachieving, you sometimes just have to change one of the parts in the equation. It isn't necessarily fair, it happens all the time in sports...

I like Ruff a lot...but I am starting to feel this more and more...I think Ruff would get hired in a second, and wouldn't be shocked to see him win somewhere else...but, after 14 years, and the same core of players, essentially, that have been underachieving for about 5 or 6 years, it may just be time for a change, just to change the chemistry on the team. Five games in to a new season, and it feels just like the last five years...not enough scoring, sloppy defensive play...while I didn't get to see the game yesterday (thanks Time Warner with no NHLN!), I listened to a fair amount of it. Vanek is hurt, again...when that happens, they are in trouble. We have a lot of our hopes tied up in Grigorenko turining in to the second coming of Mogilny..but conventional opinion about Ruff is that he doesn't know how to handle guys like Grigoroenko, who have a lot of offensive potential. Well, not writing off this season at all, but kind of a bummer to be on 3 game losing skid, already! Thing abot Ryan is, he can play so damn well, you kind of forget how bad he can look as well... I sometimes think he is fools gold. I have no idea how to find this stat, but I would be willing to bet (assuming someone can find the info), that few goaltenders have given up more goals, over the last 5 years or so, in the final minute of a period. Enroth may not be the answer, but I do think they need to find a solid back-up. When Enroth was playing really well (spring of 2011), I thought we had found our new Edwards/Sauve combination. Miller (Edwards) was the undiputed starter, but when he was on, Enroth (Sauve) was unbeleivably good...you just stick with him, until his hot hand cools. Unfortunately, Enroth, since then, just hasn't been the guy who can "steal" a game. When Miller is on, he can do that... of course, all that said, goaltending has not been the problem, so far, this year. Goal scoring is still the issue.

So Jason Pomminvile being the team captain is the root of all evil?

I have a theory, but it will make me sound like a sour old codger...the NFL used to have more teams that played dominant defense. I don't know if it is the rule changes, or the fact that this is pretty much a passing league (likely a combo of the two) or whatever....but parity has not only caught up with the league (minus the Bills of course) but it seems to have caught up to the games themselves. Strangely, while I agree, the last dozen or so Super Bowls have been, for the most part, very entertaining games, I just don't think the game is as good as it once was. Like a lot of things... I agree with Bleacher Report (just to piss the anti-Bleacher Report crowd off), Super Bowl 25 was the greatest Super Bowl I ever saw (1973-present)...two teams, with contrasting styles, who, for the most part, played their game...but defense wins championships, as they say. Now, most games are shoot-outs, comebacks, collapses of monumental proportions...it is entertaining I suppose, but I don't think it really makes for a better game.

Irv Weinstein: Final Newscast (Full Version)
Buftex replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Skipped ahead to the sports coverage.(around 17:00 in)...Bills rookie head coach Wade Phillips reflecting on the just completed regular season, and chiming in on the decision to start Flutie...so long ago...I miss the Bills being good, more than I miss Irv! Thanks for the link. Irv gets pretty choked up. I forget, was Azar long gone by this time? -
Which Super Bowl loser did you want to win?
Buftex replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wanted the Bengals to win over the 49ers both times they played...the Bears to beat the Colts...and the Seahawks to beat the Steelers. Before this century began, the team I was pulling for, more often than not, lost. Super Bowls have been mostly pretty good the last 12 years or so...some of the best SB's of all time. Of course, the game is a little different now...still think that Giants/Bills was the best SB game ever...bad result. -
I get it..Marrone only wants to surround himself with "ya-know" men!

I almost started a thread, during this past off-season to name your "all-time favorite" viral video...this is it for me...all these years later, it still makes me laugh.

Is Kate Upton's New SB Mercedes Ad Too Tacky-Sexy?
Buftex replied to erynthered's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Not tacky enough! -
He couldn't prove what was going on in Callahan's mind, but he knows as fact that Callahan "sabotaged" the Raiders in the Super Bowl? Okay....
-
Callahan had a busy day yesterday...accept the Cowboys OC position, deal with allegations that he fixed a Super Bowl 10 years ago...
-
Not to be gross, but I think the first, ah-hem, adult dream I had involved Mrs Kotter. Somehow she ended up completely naked in the plum tree in my parents back yard....what was I supposed to do? As for Marie, I grew up with a lot of older siblings, so at a very early age I was keenly aware that the Osmonds music sucked! I probably find her more attractive now (though she strikes as bat-**** crazy) than I did as a kid.

Nothing desperate about it, you just have to side with logic sometimes. According to NFL Network, and other sources, numerous players on that Raiders team are refuting Browns allegations. Rich Gannon, Lincoln Kennedy, Zack Crockett, Bill Romanowski..etc etc Does their word mean less? Well, maybe Romo... http://www.mercuryne...not-embraced-by If Callahan hated the Raiders so much, or loved John Gruden so much, wtf would he take the Raiders head coaching job? To get them to a Super Bowl and then tank the game...it is just preposterous. Browns allegations about Callahans' offensive changes causing Barrett Robbins breakdown are equally idiotic. To me, this just sounds like bad blood between some players and their former coach. By your logic (believing things we couldn't possibly know makes us stooges) Brown is a stooge, unless he wants to come to the table and say that Bill Callahan told him (or somebody on the team, for that matter) that he intended to throw the game, because he hated Al Davis so much, and wanted Grudin to win, to stick it to him...but Brown can't say that, and he won't...cuz he is just speculating. FWIW: it must be Bill Callahan day...he is set to be named the new Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator. ps- if you are amused by "stooges" who speak so impassioned absolutes about things they couldn't possibly know, you would get a kick out of the PPP board...oh wait!

Funny thing is, if another team cut him, after the same results he had in Buffalo, I might be okay with signing him as a vetran backup. Somebody will. But it won't be the Bills, and it probably shouldn't be. He is a good guy, and I take no joy in wanting him gone, but it just wouldn't be good for whoever takes his place...and just suppose he did end up starting again...Bills fans are pretty rough, once they have made up their mind.

As soon as I saw this was from Bleacher Report, I had to remind myself that Howard Stern has not been funny in years, and that WGR sucks...and that Jerry Sullivan is a bitter old basketball fan... All that out of the way...I can see all of these things happening...and I wouldn't be terribly upset...though I do kinda like Fitz & McGee...but Fitz is not good, and I still have to remind myself that McGee is still on the team.

Yup! Leave it to BBB!

Not so sure he is mentally deficient...but like I said, I find it easier to fathom that a bunch of guys get their ass kicked in a Super Bowl, the same bunch of guys can't stand their coach, and find it easier to explain that their coach, who they hate, did someting improper, causing them to lose... it defies logic that the head coach would go out of his way to lose a championship game. And, if there was a hint of gambling involved, you don't think the NFL would have investigated it? Now, I can also fathom that Callahan changed some things up, maybe at the last minute, to counter what Gruden might be privy to. The Raiders have traditionally had a devisive element on their team... I can see a bunch of guys siding with Gruden in his spat with the owner, and thinking of themselves as "Gruden's guys"....whichever coach, Callahan or any other, stepped into that mess was bound to have his detractors. From most accounts, Callahan was never a warm and fuzzy guy either, which wouldn't help his cause. Funny how stories change over the years...you remember when our guys were getting their asses kicked, they swore up and down that they practiced hard, and were prepared..then, years later, they started saying things like "we partied too much"... Would be interested in hearing that.

In that cowgirl outfit, she is looking dangerously like LaToya Jackson...
