All of what you say is true, I know. I have seen Miller go through stretches where he is pretty unbelievable, and where he "steals games". I just think he is streaky. As for the defense, I just can't believe how bad they are playing. I guess Myers is on my **** list, becasue I am just not seeing any improvement from him...with his size and speed, it bugs me that I am nervous every time I see him on the ice. He currently leads the team with a p/m rating of -6. His instincts just don't seem to be there. EDIT: sorry- Leopold is a -8, and Stafford a -7. I will give Staff a pass, because he makes up for it with all those goals he scores!

Yeah, I hear you... I realize Miller gets hung out to dry quite a bit (more than he should be), but he does seem to have, I don't know, some depth perception issues, or something, with that glove hand. How many times do you see him raise his glove hand to make a save. only to see the puck go right over or under. As for the defensemen, I could point the finger at Lindy for the scheme, perhaps...maybe he is culpable for all the odd-man rushes our opponents seem to get...but I swear, a lot of our blue liners are either just lazy or passive...they never...and Myers is the worst offender. He rarely takes anyone off the puck, but waits for them to make a move..and when he is trying to defend on an odd-man rush, he always seems to make the wrong play...and I just don't see his judgement getting better with experience. I like what he can bring to the offense from time to time, but he is almost a liability in his own end. Sorry...just very disappointed by this poor start. I take some solace though...saw some stat about the 1994 season, which also had a lockout and a 48 game schedule..the standing at the end of the season was drastically different than they were after 10 games that year. The Devils won the cop that year, but were 12th in the conference after 10 games...so there is still hope of turning this thing around.

The general consensus seems to be "if I like it, it is good. If I don't like it, they have no talent!' That should just about cover it.

Titus Young released 2x, arrested 4x

Talented but troubled (or should I say "trouble")...seems to be the norm for an NFL WR! -
I am hardly the harshest critic of players, but I just don't see anything in Myers that suggests he is going to get a lot better. He has been in the league three years, and is regressing, IMO. I think we all cut him some slack last season. I think the Sabres are in a dangerous position where they want to "get tougher"...but instead of their core guys getting tougher, they are just adding tougher guys with limited skills. The good teams have skilled guys who are tough. Myers has some offensive skill, but it isn't enough (at this point) to cancel out the liability that he is (and its' getting worse IMO) on defense. He was brutal yesterday against Florida... sorry, maybe overreacting, but we have to make excuses for our coach, our goaltender and what is supposed to be our franchise blue liner? This team is still a few moves away from being taken seriously, I am afraid. As exhileratiing as the win against Boston was on Thursday, that game was hardly a defensive masterpiece. The Vanek/Hodgson/Pomminvile line is playing insanely good....but our record is 3-5-1...something isn't adding up. Screw it...win two games in a row, and everyone can stay!

I hear you...but football is only part of the Super Bowl. From what I hear, last nights Super Bowl was the highest rated ever...so, the NFL obviously knows how to tap into the mainstream America mind-set. That never makes for a completely satisfying prodction.

Eh...anyone exepcting to be musically satisfied by a Super Bowl half-time show probably doesn't really care about music that much. As far as these kind of performances go, I thought she was much better than most...and I am so glad, whatever they do, they trended away from throwing a bunch of different artists together for a musical trainwreck. The woman can sing.

The "God made a farmer" commercial was powerful...too bad it was just to plug a product, and not, say, a cause. I thought all the commercials (beyond the farmer one) were pretty lame...like KD said, just the same stupid commercials we will be inundated with, excessively for the next year...why anyone gets excited about this is beyond me. Will admit, the goat/Doritos commercial gave me a chuckle, as did the Galaxy commercial with Seth Rogan and Bob Odenkirk...

Watched the Montreal broadcast on Saturday (my only choice with Center Ice) and they were commenting on the "file" on Miller is that you can beat him glove side...because he is tall, and does not like to hold his glove high, they say, everyone knows he will leave an opening in that area....

God, what a miserable weekend for the Sabres, after that "springboard" win in Boston. I would look to trade Tyler Myers, before everyone realizes what a big cream-puff he is. He had a decent rookie year, and since, I feel like I am always looking for signs that he is returning to his rookie form...he was awful today against Florida. I just don't see that this kid has the desire to be better. I don't see him working hard on the ice. Not liking his development at all. They keep saying that the Sabres have an abundance of defensemen...but I don't know how many of the 10 "NHL ready" guys are really that good. They make so many lazy mistakes. Fitting that Campbell gets the game winner today. Not giving up on this season just yet, but it is getting harder and harder to watch...maybe it is just conditioning and lack of training camp...but this team just looks exhausted already...like they have played 50 games already. Just lazy and lethargic at times.

I just started and finished watching Breaking Bad
Buftex replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I am guessing it will be July 7th. "Mad Men" starts on April 7th...has its' 13 week run...which would take us to Sunday, July 7th for Breaking Bad. Looking forward to both! I love "Mad Men", so I am not going to quibble, but I seriously think that "Boardwalk Empire" is in the same ballpark. If you ever get bored, nothing else to watch, go back and watch them in quick succession...knowing what is going to happen makes those earlier episodes (which I admit I thought were good, but not super exciting) so much better... also, looking into the real story of the characters helps. I just watched all three seasons again, over the last 2 months and I am chomping at the bit, now, for season four. -
Jim Kelly on CBS Sunday Morning tomorrow
Buftex replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, if we trash the best player (players) the team we root for ever had, it will mean that the current Bills will be better? Win a Super Bowl even? The further removed we get from those teams of the early 90's, the more attitudes like yours prevail (I swear, it is the ESPN/Cowherd effect) the less joy there is to watching or following sports. There may be some truth to that, in the case of the 1992 season...but without Jim Kelly there wouldn't have been a 4 year Super Bowl run either... -

FWIW- I don't work out in the off-season either...or during the season for that matter! -

Torches! -
You know, I though "the Coach" was a blowhard...but he knew the game, and how to break it down, much better than anyone else in WNY sports media. I am not ashamed to say, I used to feel like I learned from listening to him. He talked about aspects of the game that nobody else could touch.
-
Yeah, whou would have thunk a guy who goes by the name of "stink" would be so sensitive about his pig like qualities?

I actually thought the Dickerson comments were common knowledge amongst Bills fans...certainly a big part of Bills-Super Bowl lore. And, to your point, some may not think it meant much, but the comments are what led to Marv Levy canning "the coach", Chuck Dickerson. They had some impact somewhere. I heard Marv talk about this once, and he was incredulous over the comments. He heaped a ton of praise on Dickerson's knowledge (probably aware that the Coach was making a name for himself, post Bills, bad mouthing Marv), but said that he had spent considerable time, the week before the team left for the Super Bowl, preaching to his players to be careful about what they say to the media, be respectful of your oppenant, becasue any perceived slight would be blown out of proportion. So, he was dismayed to hear one of his trusted coaches turning around and doing exactly what he had asked his players not to do. In all fairness to Dickerson, I don't think he was trying to insult the Redskins, but was just trying to be "old school" football coach...it kind of backfired on him.

[url= ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3fDYWiMTvw Believe it or not, despite the general lack of goal scoring for this team, these wide open, end to end games are their kind of game. I had to watch the game tape delay, and honeslty, went they went down 3-1, I was dangerously close to giving up. Glad I stuck it out...that was a fun third period. Vanek was Lemieux like last night! Now Boston is making a big deal about Ruff calling a time-out with 17 seconds left...saying that Ruff has ensured that there will be incident the next time the two teams play...pretty funny stuff! Of course, Boston is taking it as a "f-you" Bruins, saying it was "disrespectful"...doesn't dawn on them that Ruff is trying to get his goons out, cuz he knows the kind of **** the Bruins pull on a regular basis? Was getting a little down on Lindy...but I love that move...I can't wait til rthe Sabres play the chowds again!

I hope you are rigth KD... I like the Ravens to cover the spread, but I think the 49ers will win the game.... I will say 49ers 23, Ravens 20 Should be a good game...pulling for the Ravens.

Rob Johnson Interview With Rich Gaenzler
Buftex replied to Wayne Fontes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay, I get it Dave...but should we go through and look at Fluties stats, team records, etc before crediting him with 24 wins (or whatever it was)? The argument works both ways. I recall Flutie having some pretty miserable games amongst those wins. -
Donte Whitner 7th Worst Safety
Buftex replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And you may be right. Stats only tell part of the story, particularly in football. To grade guys, merely on stats, is to pretend that the 10 players on the field with him have no impact on his game. How many times has a guy put up a great season, signed with another team, and disappeared? -
