DREW BLEDSOE VS. FITZPATRICK (stats in b-lo)
Buftex replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz, in his prime, has never been as good as Bledsoe was for us in 2002...Bledsoe was in steep decline after that. It is a silly argument to make...different players, different coaches... -
God's Team: Ray Lewis vs Tim Tebow - same or different?
Buftex replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe you are right...maybe I just tune out the Tebow thing, cuz I get so sick of hearing the name...I didn't really see a lot of him in college...but in the pros, I don't really think I ever heard him utter a christy word...maybe that Super Bowl commercial he did prior to the draft. It just seems like people dig for reasons to dislike him. -
God's Team: Ray Lewis vs Tim Tebow - same or different?
Buftex replied to WotAGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not taking sides on this issue, and I am no holy-roller...but honeslty, other than sucking, and having way too much coverage from ESPN, what has Tim Tebow done to make people hate him so much? He is hardly the first athlete to be "super-christy",and honeslty, other than media people railing on and on about it, I have seen/heard little from him on the subject, unless asked. I mean, most people loved Kurt Warner, right? He was far more verbally "super-christy" than Tebow, from what I have seen. Believe me, I am sure as **** glad the Bills never got involved in the Tim Tebow circus, but I have a real hard time dis-liking the guy. Even this season, when he was treated like absolute crap by his coaching staff, he kept a stiff upper-lip and never complained in public...in this day and age, that is to be commended...look at that punk Dwight Howard in LA. ****, I just read Figs' comments... I got nothing against Ray Lewis either (as far as the religious stuff goes), but do you really think his displays are any less contrived than Tebows'? I thought he was rediculous this past Sunday..he did a lot of crying, but I didn't see any tears. But that doesn't make me root against him. -
ALERT: NHL Center Ice free preview through Jan 31st!
Buftex replied to Buftex's topic in Off the Wall Archives
$49.99 is super, super cheap! Assuming the Sabres make the playoffs (I know, I know...) at least 2 or 3 of their first round playoff games would only be available to us out of towners via Center Ice...subtract the 5 or 6 NBC games....and you are paying only about $1 a game... -
Sean Payton Reinstated, and Gregg Williams as well
Buftex replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am sure everyone will be tripping over themselves to sign Gregg Williams. -
I don't know. I find it easier to believe that the players, as a whole, are trying to find some 'boogey-man" to explain why they had their asses handed to them, than I can a NFL head coach, no matter how much he disliked his owner, would tank a championship game, just to make that owner look bad. And if there were gambling allegations floated around, I have no doubt, the NFL would have investigated them fully. It just does not ring true to me. That Raiders team was hardly a model of discipline. To me, it seems like they fell into the trap that so many losing Super Bowl teams (our favorites included) from that era seemed to fall into...they were content to get there, and their oppenant was better. Tampa Bay had an awesome defense that season... Dick Jauron and I agree!

Good piece on the Kennedy's and the Mafia.

That is a pretty far-fetched story that Mr Brown tells... I am kind of surprised NFL.COM is giving it any coverage.

I think Bolden has been one of the most under-appreciated players in the NFL for the last decade or so...he caught everything thrown to him in Arizona, no matter the cost (remember the jaw-breaker) and has risen to the occaision in Baltimore, now that they have decided to rely a little more on the pass. Great player.

Just busting your chops! When I first became a FB friend of yours, I noticed you "liked" the Senators! Perhaps a youthful indiscretion? I know you love the Sabres! Good to have hockey back. -

Rusty Jones retiring from the Bears
Buftex replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know, I like Rusty Jones too...but the Bears were hardly unaffected by the injury bug, while he was in Chicago. -

Understand, I hate Limbaugh, but Ed Schultz couldn't carry Rush's colostomy bag... Rush is a prick, but he isn't stupid...Ed, I am not sure. -
Something a former member of our team said to me recently
Buftex replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good guess... Evans was one of the few bright spots on this team (for me anyways) for the better part of a decade...I know he has his bashers, but I always thought he carried himself with class, couldn't help but like the guy...wish things had worked out different for him in Buffalo, and Baltimore for that matter. Haven't seen this posted anywhere else...sounds like Evans really appreciated his season in Baltimore...from ESPN.Com: No Second Chance for Lee Evans: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/8847776/nfl-playoffs-no-second-chance-lee-evans-billy-cundiff -
TV and print ads for what? The guy is not holding any office... I think everyone already knows Nagin is a scum-bag.

No, he is a bust...it has been decreed by TBD...we could have Russell Wilson with that pick, y'now!

My intial reaction to the original questin posed was "hell no"..but then I realize, I alread probably spend between $1,000-1,200 a year to watch most of the Sabres and Celtics games, and all of the Bills games. And, as much as that sounds, I think it is a great value. If I pay $40 a month (or whatever it is) for Center Ice, and watch 15-20 Sabres games, that is a great value as far as I am concerned. Even when they suck! Same for Celtics. I pay for NHL Center Ice every season (about $280), and about a half season of the the NBA package every year ($140)...for the sole purpose of watching the Sabres and Cetlics games. True, I do watch other NHL and NBA games, only cuz I have access, but I wouldn't otherwise. If Time Warner offered the NFL package, no doubt, I would pay for that too, just to watch the Bills. As it is now, I spend somewhere between $20-30 a week to go to a bar and watch the Bills games.

Have to agree with Jerry Sullivan this time
Buftex replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not taking a stance on Marrone...I honestly have no idea if this was a good hire or not. I have learned, over the last few years, not get too excited, or discouraged by what hasn't happened yet. So I agree....let's wait and see... To your point about the New England/Cleveland Browns "hungry guys" though.... what "Cleveland '95" neglected to mention (I liked it, but it was much a Bellichek blow-fest as it was an ode to the Browns and their fans), and why speculating about guys just because they were associated with some success, is that all of the Bellechik disciples from Cleveland/New England have turned out to be busts at their next stop. Have any of them had any real success? They have had lots of opportunities, but little success.
