Slightly different spin on this... Pure speculation, but Brandon knew the Jets/Colts trade was coming down yesterday when he was on the dais because he turned down the Colts when they gave him a chance to better the Jets deal. He preached patience yesterday because he is not ready to move. He has talked with Gettleman (they likely talk quite often) and there is a structure of a deal in place, but Brandon has more work to do if he wants to pursue the deal. He needs to get into the top 7 and then call Gettleman with the offer. The trade part actually will happen quickly - either a trade with the Colts at 6 or the Bucs at 7 then a trade with the Giants to get to 2. However, between now and the draft -- they are really going to put one final look at the potential and the flaws of the draft QBs..they are: Going to look at Darnold's turnovers and admire his size, pocket awareness, and accuracy Going to look at Rosen's concussions, his intellectual arrogance and his football intellect, pocket awareness and beautiful deep ball Going to look at Mayfield's lack of height, brashness and competitive moxie as well as admire his accuracy Going to look at Allen's inaccuracy and lack of pocket presence but his toughness, size and arm strength as well They are going to determine, through film and face to face visits, which if any of these four can lead the Bills for the next decade. If in their assessment, there is a Buffalo Bills franchise QB in this group and he is there at #2, I am confident they will make the move to #2 and get him. They will fill holes after the draft with UFAs or recently cut Street Free Agents. If the QB to their liking is not at #2, they will build one hell of !@#$ing defense and bolster the O-line and WR corps in this draft; draft a second tier QB that can compete for the starter role because they have the draft assets to do all this..and this is a deep draft all over.... This is a different leadership team...they are patient, they are smart, they are not reactive...I still billieve we are in great hands... BTW, The Jets have a culture of doing things to gain attention in the largest media market -- this is a great move to get the fans excited and they will undoubtedly tag the new QB as the savior of the City, Franchise, world, universe, etc. The next Joe Willie, etc. The next Eli.....Its the Jets remember--- its the Jets -- second fiddle in their own city....yeah, those guys.

I think #7 gets Gettleman Nelson.... Browns: Darnold (The highest ceiling but needs the finishing work Hue thinks he can provide) Bills: Rosen (McD and Beane value intellect over any other trait--they go with the smartest player) Jets: Mayfield (Perfect fit for NY -- the biggest personality -- I honestly think this is who they want) Browns: Barkley Broncos: Allen (Allen has every trait that will make Elway want him...he is a piece of clay Elway will want to mold) Colts; Chubb Giants: Nelson

So if the purpose of the poll was to allow people to vent, folks can vent in the original thread about this subject. The 94/6 spread is an indication this was pretty useless. If the purpose was to be duplicative to the original thread on the subject, you did a great job. There are 6 weeks to the draft. How about you commit to doing a poll after the draft that has several options including Should Beane be fired? Does Beane deserve a roll-over extension and a big raise based on the results? How 'bout it detective...are you a true detective or just a man with an agenda?

Beane likely has to make two moves if the Bills want "their guy" if there is a "their guy". Gettleman won't want to drop all the way to 12. Beane knows this and likely has the structure in place to make both deals. Offer Tampa 1-12, 2-21 and 3-32 for 1-7 -- this is a 12% overpayment. Offer NY Giants - 1-7, 1-22, and the topper, 1-2019 for 1-2. This represents a 26% overpayment if you calculate next year's #1 at 1000 points and Vegas oddsmakers are expecting the Bills to regress and finish in the bottom quartile. Bills still have 2-24 and 3-1. Beane said something interesting yesterday. He said patience is the key ...they let the UFA QB market play out and ended up getting McCarron on the cheap. Let everyone else make their moves and see what plays out in the draft. Make the Tampa trade late to scare the pants off everyone else. Bills have an advantage because none of the other teams have second first rounder this year to deal so he will be in good position and then see how the draft plays out. Be willing to part with next year's #1 because that's what you do if you are convinced that you are getting a franchise QB and take solace in the fact that you have a ton of cap space next year to fill any 2019 holes. Bills will never be in a better position than this year. This team is on the rise and the floor is likely not drafting in the top 10 for the near future. I have confidence he will get this done.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2016/01/29/evaluating-will-comptons-performance-as-the-starting-inside-linebacker/?utm_term=.c276991427d5 He was the QB of the defense in 2016....Good analysis of his competence in that role but also of his shortcomings particularly in the run game....The final assessment of the article is that he is special teams core and back up MLB...he will likely get paid like this. I could see he and Murphy being the modern era Smerlas and Haslett :-) OMG -- he and Murphy were born to play professional football in WNY for our beloved Buffalo Bills....

Bills GM: Not certain we move up to take QB
JoeF replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was the most cogent, straight-forward, succinct and intelligent press conference a Bills GM has given in the on-line era. Beane is not only privy but he is directing the evaluation process. For example, he admitted they make calls on guys they have no interest in just to gauge the value of a player with similar skills. He talked about having a floor (bargain price) and a ceiling for every UFA in whom they are interested. Fascinating process -- things we knew but never said publicly before. Really like Beane and McDermott.... -

How do you know Brandon Beane is lying this time of year? His lips are moving... -
Comp pick score card... Signings Losses - Star - Brown - Murphy - Henderson - McCarron - Bush Davis and Ivory were not Unrestricted Free Agents but were street free agents Bills have a long list of UFA's still to be signed by other teams including - Matthews, Gaines, Humber, Brandon Tate, Shereece Wright, Cedric Thornton who could draw interest. Bills still could end up with a net loss. Thanks, Preston. Wish you well....

Bills Have a Standing Offer for LB Preston Brown
JoeF replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I sat next to Eric and Justin's grandfather recently on a flight. Eric and Justin's dad was an NCAA Champion Hurdler at LSU and Mom was also an Olympic level athlete. Dr. Reid shared with me Eric and Justin's background and their amazing athletic accomplishments. More importantly how they were raised. They are an amazing family! They fit the culture McD and Beane are seeking. Eric has had only tepid interest in the market which he has blamed on his support of Kapernick. He would be a great, great, great pick up...he can do it all. Even with Poyer and Hyde, he would be on the field a lot and Hyde could drop to slot or boundary corner. I know Beane said no more splashes....but Eric Reid for a bargain would be a steal. -

Wait a second...What About Shaq Lawson????
JoeF replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know its hard to understand after nearly 2 decades of poor roster building...but there's this concept called depth....it means having players at key positions beyond the starter who can actually play at an NFL level in NFL games....I am just beginning to remember this concept after having roster amnesia...for us old timers, its... Kenneth Davis Frank Reich Steve Tasker at WR Mike Lodish Cliff Hicks Pete Metzalaras (when he was backing up McKeller)...etc.... -
Who said you could supply factual information to this thread.... They are both part of the Murphy's Oil Soap/Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza empire...

Browns signing Hyde a hint to trade #4 to bills?

Browns signing Hyde a hint to trade #4 to bills?
JoeF replied to Norcalbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still believe we are going to #2. Gettleman wanted a higher pick than 21 so Beane went and got 12. I could live with 12, 21 and 2019 #1 for Giants 2 and a 2019 third rounder.. I know folks hate Josh Allen, but I think he is the target. It scares me because of the accuracy and QB intelligence/pocket feel issue but he is the biggest QB, has played in the wind and cold and fits the culture. They want a QB eager to learn with raw talent ... I think they value size and arm over any other trait. I honestly believe that's the plan.....I would love Josh Rosen....I think he is both accurate and smart--I worry a bit about his fragile head... -
Don't accuse the Bills of trying to "systematically" get better Florio...we are following a process to get better...this isn't about a damn system its about the PROCESS!

He really sucked on my fantasy team this year.....

Don’t shoot the messenger, I just got a tip for 4:00 today.

Bills might lead the world in "Hold my beer, I can show you "stupidity at a level never seen before in the NFL" franchise moments. So we got this Division 3 baseball player who we're going to put in charge of football decisions..We going to hire a fat, undisciplined carnival barker as our coach.... -
Trade Up to 1 and draft Barkley... to trade
JoeF replied to switz1610's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brilliant idea. Spend all the draft capital it takes to get to #1 and then take less to move down again and unless its #2 maybe miss out on the QB you want. I love it. Why wouldn't the team that wants Barkley get to #1 on their own. The Browns and Dorsey are too smart to make us their broker.
