Would You Trade Baker Mayfield for Josh Allen at This Point?
The Dean replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Of course the question posed was "Would you trade Baker for Josh?" Without further clarification, this is presented is seemingly a question for the Browns. But is it? Irv answers he would not. No explanation supplied. Irv is a Bills fan, right? Is he answering from the Browns or Bills perspective? ("Yes" would be a perfect answer to that question for this thread.) As a Bills fan I wouldn't ever consider that trade. I wouldn't have drafted Mayfield that high in the 1st round, either. But right now, I'm not sure the Browns make that trade either. -

A trade of Josh for Baker is a trade of Baker for Josh. -

It might help if you asked, and answered, the question in a way that communicated what you really think. You failed profoundly. -
Bills 26, Cowgirls 15 Game Balls!!
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone go to the game? Any clue how many Bills fans were there? I know you can't take over that stadium, but I heard a lot of cheering for the Bills while watching on TV. So what was it? 10,000? 20,000? -
Allen 4th and 1 opinions wanted

Apparently it was supposed to be handed off to Singletary: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/11/29/bills-loved-josh-allens-superman-sneak/ -
Should the Bills trade for Maher? Given what Beane has been able to do so far, do you really believe he wouldn't make a move if there was a better option available? I have to believe this is Hauschka's last year in Buffalo. And he's been very good through most of his career. But I agree it is probably over. Still you don't dump him until you have someone you know can be more reliable. It's been a brutal year for kickers in the NFL

I think the vibe is real. Check this out: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/11/28/cole-beasley-im-glad-im-in-a-place-where-they-believe-in-me/ Afterward they showed Josh running off the field with his turkey wing on a plate, waving over another player who took a big chomp. I didn't catch his number, though. Josh was spreading the love.

158.3 is a perfect QB rating. That, in itself, should tell you something about the rating.

It might be among the greatest 1-yard (OK maybe 2) angry runs by a QB I've ever seen. That it came after a fumble recovery, where he had to reach into a mass of huge humanity to get the ball, makes it all the more epic. -
Nice explanation. But if that's the case, I still mostly disagree with that statement. Ford (and the defense) did an excellent of job of handling Miller. Maybe he didn't handle it all by himself (as he and others have noted) but very few tackles handle Von by himself (as he and others have noted). He did was he was asked to do. Held up and allowed the help to assist. If he screws up bad enough, the help typically doesn't matter. Von torches veteran tackles (with help!) on a regular basis. So yes, you can pick apart the tape and say, well he didn't do it all by himself. So what? Who does, really? Maybe one or two tackles in the league? I think Sundays performance was a perfect opportunity to tell the "pitchfork crowd" to pump the breaks---while not at the same time going overboard. Because only the "pitchfork crowd" seemed to be going anywhere fast enough to need to pump the breaks. But he seems to be saying the opposite. That's what I don't understand.
-
Me neither. Just like I recently discovered Maury Povich and Jerry Springer are still on TV. I couldn't believe it.
-
I think the overall review is fine, for the most part. I guess one issue I have is the "pump the breaks" comment. Breaks on what? Have people been proclaiming Ford an All-Pro T based on that performance? Maybe Pro Bowl? How about Offensive Rookie of the Year? Has there been a general agreement Ford is now legit, every play starting RT in the NFL? Well, if so I haven't heard or seen anything to that effect. So I ask again, what exactly do we need to "pump the breaks" on? Acknowledging a solid game against one of the NFL's best (yes with help)? Noticing he is improving as he learns the NFL game? I don't know. I've never had to pump the breaks when I was only traveling 15 MPH--even if I sped up from 5 MPH.

For what it's worth, it's listed as New in the Comcast listings.

Former Bills Coach Hank Bullough Passes at 85
The Dean replied to Purplebulldog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's seems wrong reading a RIP thread only to find people trashing the recently deceased. He was, for a total of 18 games, with two very bad teams, over his head as a HC. At least you two take the opportunity to point out Hank was a very influential, and well respected position coach and coordinator. He was a huge contributor to the game. (I don't want to sound holier than thou, as I took plenty of shots at Hank and had a lot of fun at his expense. But this is probably not the right time for that. RIP Coach. Don't get me started on that POS Smerlas. -
Predict the Bills record in the last three tough games
The Dean replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that's how it plays out (or any other 2-win scenario), then I'll have to admit this season exceeded my expectations. And as you said earlier, if they can only win 1 (or none) of the remaining games they don't deserve to make the playoffs. Oddly I'll consider that under-delivering on my expectations. While I may not have expected 9 wins before the season, I did expect the team to be improving throughout the season. And so far, I think they are. If they collapse from here, then that narrative changes. With all that said, I think they'd have a better shot against Dallas if it wasn't being played on Thanksgiving in Dallas. I'm not saying they have no chance, just that that might just be too big of a game/stage for this team at this time. I hope I'm wrong. I also think the best chance of the Bills stealing a game they aren't generally expected to win is the rematch with the Pats*. -
Dwayne Haskins taking selfies misses last play of game

Mine as well. I probably got called a "chooch" 5-10 times a day for awhile there. In this case, I agree. I don't get a lot of anger here, though some are a bit too eager to jump on him because of this one, minor, incident. It's his first win of the year. And only their second. (EDIT) Stupid? Yes indeed. And a bit too much of a "look at me" moment for a team in that kind of disarray. But it's nothing that major or anything that can't be corrected. He's young. He's a chooch. Just don't do anything like that again. -
You don't warm your syrup? Over easy.

Obviously most of the great ones have been posted. But this one, from 1974, has always had a special place in my movie viewing heart:
-
Challah bread is perfect for French Toast as is brioche. But many thickly sliced breads will do. I was very surprised to find a locally made flax seed bread that was awesome when made as french toast---though completely unlike what one would expect from traditional bread. And, on a mostly unrelated note: What's the appeal of Texas toast? Not talking french toast here, but as served as the bread for an egg sandwich or with a meal? Seriously, WTF is this crap and why do I have to live with it in Florida?
-
Waffles. Seriously though, this is always a big decision for me. Typically I make french toast at home, because it's just easier (for me) to make for one person, and I make killer french toast. So when I go out, I might be more inclined to order pancakes (at a place known to have great pancakes) or waffles, because I rarely eat waffles and they're pretty damn good. The real key is the syrup/topping. A nice mixture of butter, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, real maple syrup, some fruit (bananas/berries). Toss in some high proof rum/brandy/bourbon and flambe! Hey if I'm going to the trouble to make french toast or pancakes, I might as well go all the way.

I don't think I've ever seen Steve Belicheat get that much TV face time. I ALMOST feel bad for him, as his D was thoroughly roughed up by the Ravens in his "coming out party". Being Belicheat's son is a double edged sword. I think it is very unlikely this "kid" would be in a position like this otherwise. OTOH, being the son of the GOAT has to have some drawbacks. Kind of like being Jesus's son, or brother. You'll never live up to the comparison.

I'd like them a lot more with a good singer (or no singer, for that matter). Futureman is the bomb.
-
My biggest issue with the Dave Matthews Band is Dave Matthews' "ridiculous singing". They'd be awesome with a real vocalist.

I saw stories like that after that incident. I'm thinking "what a clueless moron", then remembering I was one of those morons.
