Bills trade for Diggs - jw no discussions on a restructure
The Dean replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are talking about a concept, a strategy. Maybe if he handed it off, things would have been different. We don't know what difference. I'm pointing to a single moment in the game that cost them, irrespective of what strategic or tactical plans and decisions took place. There are TWO glaring game changing plays. Obviously Norwood's missed FG and the blown 3rd and very long with multiple missed tackles. Norwood's FG was far from a gimme, but if you want to put the blame on him, then I understand. Ingram's run was INEXCUSABLE for a SB defense, IMO. But if either of those plays is reversed, then the Bills likely win. Certainly in one case. You can stick JK's arrogance in the long line of "philosophical" causes with the others. Marv was too lax. The players partied too much the night before. Parcells was a "genius". Cory had a terrible game plan. It was Rob Johnson's fault. (Oh, wait, I may have the games mixed up.) The fact is, no matter about any of that. If either one of those plays is different, the Bills win the game. I say pick one, or both. But for my simoleons, the D blew the game on that one play. Simoleon? Semolian? How the hell do you spell it? -

JK didn't miss a tackle on that play. -

Count the missed tackles. Take him down and game is won. -
I'm shocked there weren't a few negative comments*, knowing how some post on this forum. For what was obviously less than tendering him as a FA, they managed to keep him around. A great signing, even if he doesn't end up sticking on the roster to start the season**. I'm guessing he will. Well done (so far) Bills fans. * There was one less than intelligent comment: ("Camp Fodder") which seems odd for a guy who played in nearly every game last year and started in eight. **If there is a season.

THAT'S the reason the Bills lost that SB, IMO. Unforgivable. -
Several local shops require a minimum ($10/$15) in order to use a card. My understanding is that is a violation of the agreement merchants make to accept the card, but I might be wrong. I believe at one time it was anyway. Then again, I can charge a $0.50 item at a 7 Eleven, for example. I have to believe it is related to agreement made with the processor of their transactions. I'm thinking there HAS to be a way these companies, with a lot of little transactions, make this work financially or they would stop making these transactions.

It's such BS it should be ignored, IMO. -

My guess is he meant one of those guys. I forgot Jaquan's name, but knew there was another guy. Isn't one of these guys supposed to be a "hybrid" LB/Safety? -

Vosean Joseph? -
Add to that, other teams are drafting 1st and 2nd rd OL talent. Then they may find they have an opportunity to trade one away. And then there are TC cuts. I'm not saying they WILL make any OL changes. But to conclude they are DONE as of now is absurd. I don't expect the HUGE NAME so many crave. That's not their typical MO. And let's not underestimate the value of a group of the same guys (who were an upgrade over the group the year before) playing together in the same system. There is DEFINITE value in that. With that said, I'll be shocked if they con't add another piece, or two. Most likely very versatile guys.

As a former research professional, I find stats presented with zero context rather useless. Who were the other WRs on his team? How about the QBs? What was the team's offensive balance/philosophy? Even more importantly, have you noticed him being significantly slower? Route running getting sloppy? Dropping more passes? Saying he isn't good/on the decline because he hasn't reached 1,000 yards is lot like those who say Josh Allen isn't good because he doesn't throw for over 300 yards a game. Now if you provided some actual context and analysis to your statement, I wouldn't have made the comment. I think the real questions are ones like, "Does Sanders make the Saints a better, more dangerous team?" "Is this value to the team likely to be commensurate to his deal?' Remember, they already have Michael Thomas. Sanders doesn't need to necessarily have huge yardage stats for them.

But a late round pick won't have the same level of knowledge of the offense, and/or be able to provide the type of competition and leadership this front office looks for. And, if you give it a minute or two of thought, you might realize this offseason is probably going to be extremely short. The chance to get a late round rookie acclimated to the NFL, then to the team, then to the scheme, will be a real challenge. This FO is trying to take the team to the next level. The difference between a rookie contract and Marlow's may not even impact the cap, and the bottom few players on the salary scale don't count toward the cap. I'm sorry if I seemed a bit rough, but maybe try giving REASONS for your takes, especially when they seem so at odds with those of the knowledgeable posters in the community. And no, I don't count myself as anywhere near the more knowledgeable posters on this forum. Otherwise these comments can come off looking troll-like (see Mr, WEO's posts as classic examples of troll posts), or at best completely uninformed. I should have mentioned, even if Marlow's contract ends up counting against the cap, that's the beauty of this rebuild. Getting great players and STILL having cap room. Even if you don't spend too much time analyzing the deal, you have to consider maybe Beane and McDermott know a little something about the player and what they are looking for. If you know better, then take us to school!

The rich get richer. This is the kind of silly stuff that amuses me.

My guess is straight racism. Despite what some people are saying/thinking about Diggs not being a "Bills type" player consider this: No matter who was his OC, HC or QB the guy ALWAYS produces. He grumbled a couple times? So what? He continued to DELIVER on the field. Never has held out during the season, what makes people think that will start now? I'm thinking the coaches, his teammates and the fan base will LOVE this guy. -
My point exactly. I believe they were interested. Hell I hope they were. But not at anywhere hear that price.
-
But you MUST know they carry more than four safetys into camp, no? They don't just carry the four they think will stick on the roster? You DO get that, right? And there are injuries that happen during camp, and preseason. I assume you understand that, right? So what's your issue with bringing back someone who knows the system, coaches and many of the other defensive players, to help compete for that last safety job?
-
You do understand they also need special team players, competition for camp and several backups? Well, no apparently you don't. Moronic knee-jerk reactions like this cause me to shake my head and ask, "Do these people know ANYTHING about building an NFL team?" Marlow is familiar with the coaching staff, scheme and fellow players. He'll add to the competition at backup safety and is a fine ST player. He's the perfect kind of guy for this signing. Now, if you aren't a big fan, then hope he doesn't make the final roster---which could well be the case.

Don't watch the Bills much, I see.
