Valby Christmas music if the best. Well done!

"Embarrassed" is a reaction one chooses to adopt. Some people, caught by surprise in the nude get embarrassed. Others dance around and enjoy it. Choosing to feel embarrassed by someone elses performance ( or in this case, simply their stats) seems a bit weak to me. My advice? Toughen up!

Russ Salvatore letter to the editor in 2018

If you read the post, you should realize the capitalization wasn't random. Using "random" in place of "specific" or "various" is very GenX, GenXer. Just playing. But it's pretty obvious the capitalization isn't random. -
Russ Salvatore letter to the editor in 2018
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know, and have done some business with Russ. Good guy. A bit full of himself, but good guy nonetheless. But how is posting something he wrote and published "crap"? I don't care who you are, you make a public statement like that and it's fair game to be tossed back at you. It's incredibly easily rectifiable. Russ simply needs to write a retraction and admit his stupidity. Easy. Something a good guy would do---unless his ego gets in the way. Just follow Kornheiser's lead. -
Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely, yet again

GREAT catch. The guy has serious talent. And as others have said, he seems like a very good guy. So sad. Now I'm reading it may have bern PEDs and recreational. A real shame. -

"Bought into MJ"? WTF are you talking about? It seems as though you are fairly ignorant (I'm being kind here) about medical marijuana. My doctor was initially like you 6 years ago. He finally did his due diligence and is now on-board. I've managed to eliminate hydrocodone and ambien (both FAR more debilitating to the body than pot) from my prescription regimine. I've also been able to eliminate one BP medication and lower the dosage on another. Do you know a sativa from an indica from a hybrid? Do you know the difference (medically and psychoactively) between 9lb Hammer, Train Wreck and Blueberry Kush? If not, you are ignorant on the subject. Not meant to be insulting, just stating the fact. Same as if I tried to talk about car engines. I'm clueless. -

Possible game altering bad call on Milano.

Yes, if one simply reads just a few posts, it's obvious he/she is talking about the Edmunds call. It would be nice if the OP simply edits the title of the thread. -

Anything that helps relieve pain (or a numberof other issues) can be mentally addictive. Actually CBD IS illegal in Florida. Freaking crazy, right? It's sold virtually everywhere. Still the gestapo does stuff like this: https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-ne-grandma-arrested-cbd-plans-lawsuit-20190514-mmtgumqurvcxxknbqih522z6hy-story.html Potheads? "Hooked onMJ"? Dude, you need a serious reality check. You sound like my (extremely ignorant) 80 year old uncle. -

The reason I clicked this thread was to post my revulsion with that song. And I'll go on the record saying, The Harry Simone Chorale original Christmas is THE classic Christmas album.

Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely, yet again
The Dean replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. But if this one is for "performance enhancing "drugs, it may be something unrelated to his addiction. I know some will scoff, but I also believe AB probably has some fairly serious psychological issues. IMO he needs to address those before worrying about playing football. -
Just freaking HORRIBLE!

It might help to have some context. How many grievances were there? For example, if there were 4 and 1 was against the Jags, that's 25%. While I highly doubt there were 4, knowing the total base helps when interpreting if there really is a deeper issue. There's more info you'd need, of course. How many different players filed grievances? Did one player file multiple grievances? See what I'm getting at? As for Marrone, Allen probably is right. Many grievances probably have little-to-nothing to do with Marrone. But why care? People here wanted him fired, then those same people bitched when he exercised his out option. Really? "The food in this restaurant is TERRIBLE. And such small portions." The bum is gone. He ain't the Bills' problem any more. Why obsess over him?

Assuming we are talking about the call on Edmunds, the announcers said (after some time) it was actually another player who was flagged. I believe they said it was Wallace. Either way it was completely bogus. Officials should get some punishment for blowing calls that badly. One other call (well non call) I questioned was the non- call when Watt (I think) wacked Josh on the helmet. But a decently officiated game in general, IMO. This season it's about the best you can hope for. -
McDermott & Tomlin: Teammates at William & Mary

I did a very quick search and didn't see this, but I wouldn't be surprised if I missed it. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2019/12/11/steelers-mike-tomlin-bills-sean-mcdermott-william-mary/4356299002/ Fabulous article for McPaper. My niece sent this to me. She's The Dean of Libraries at W&M (it runs in the family!). -
Doug Flutie to be legend of the game this Sunday
The Dean replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod is WAY more talented than Flutie. But Flutie had the better career with the Bills. Still nowhere near a Legend except for in the mind of of some fans. -
Will Bird Fans Infiltrate New Era?
The Dean replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Judging from what I saw on TV the Ravens fans played ZERO factor in this game. There are always a few fans of every visiting team in every NFL stadium. But I didn't see huge sections of Ravens fans, the way you sometimes see Bills fans at visiting games. They seemed to be sprinkled a bit among the Bills fans. How many Ravens fans do you think were there? -
Wonderlic scores are probably most valuable for players in the later rounds. Guys you haven't been able to thoroughly scout. The Wonderlic is a fairly bad test that really doesn't measure intelligence and definately doesn't measure football intelligence. It's a broad stroke measurement. A low score might give a GM pause without much more to go by. He might wonder, is this player really dumb? Or have a learning disability? Or was too lazy to prepare for the test? For a lower pick it might represent a bit of risk. A really high score, OTOH, might give the GM some hope the player is capable of learning and improving with coaching. I'm not claiming to know this is how they use it. But as a research professional, that is the advice I would give them. But with a guy like Lamar, there were interviews with the man himself--going through plays, white boards, etc. Plus there are discussions with his coaches, teammates, etc. That kind of data is FAR superior to any Wonderlic score.

Getting back a bit to the article, after the 2018 draft one my main takeaways was the 1st round QBs went to the "right teams". The teams where I thought they best fit, if they were to succeed. It didn't work out for Rosen (who I never thought much of coming out), but to me Arizona was among the best possible landing spots for him. I felt very strongly that Josh was perfect for Buffalo. If anyone is a big surprise (to me), it is Lamar. I thought it would be another year before Flacco went breasts-up. 'breasts-up" Seriously? The filter just couldn't have put ** over the offending word? Sheesh.

Doug Flutie to be legend of the game this Sunday
The Dean replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. What did Flutie do after he left Buffalo? (I'll help you out. NOTHING! Well, nothing very good.) Neither QB turned out to be worth a s#it. But at that time of the game, if any QB was going to be the QB of the future it was RJ. Younger, bigger, better arm. Had to give him a chance. It was pretty clear by that time Flutie was NOT going to get them very far. Had to roll the dice. And, perhaps surprisingly, he left the field with seconds left, with the lead. Hard to fault him for that. -
Do you still have a landline? Why? Why not?
The Dean replied to Augie's topic in Off the Wall Archives
These days, IMO, a landline is really only useful for a few reasons. A couple are: Faxing. If you still fax (yes, some things STILL require faxing) a landline is the way to go. VOIP faxing can still be spotty from my experience, though I'm guessing that is starting to change. Power issues. A TRUE landline can be a life saver when the power goes out. But most "landlines" really aren't traditional landlines these days. Uverse, Comcast, etc all use the Internet and therefore are relatively useless when the power goes out. I kept a landline until my mother went into assisted living. When she was here, I felt more comfortable with her having some communication device that would work irrespective of the power, since the power goes out here quite often and she didn't have a cell. (Couldn't have used it if she had one. Bad dementia at the time.) But as many have said (full disclosure, I didn't read the entire thread) the VAST majority of calls coming into landlines are spam, scams and solicitation. I don't even answer my cell phone (which I also use for my business) unless I know the contact. If it's legit, they will leave a message. I call back.
