  1. I hear that, but perhaps for a different reason. I've gotten completely smashed during Zoom happy hour/meetups. I had two each on Friday and Saturday night. Hangovers on Saturday and Sunday---and I rarely get hungover.
  2. The whiskey is very important. Great idea for a thread. While it might be hard to find during this time, I buy shelf-stable milk from Dollar Tree for $1 a quart. It comes in tetrapak style containers. It keeps for a year or so on the shelf. Just stick it in the fridge to get cold before using. Then it lasts just like regular milk--7-10 days. I can't tell the difference from fresh, but I'm not drinking glasses of milk. Just in cereal and stuff. I can't imagine you will notice any difference in the late. Regular grocery stores usually carry it too, but it's over $2/qt. I toss the bananas in the refrigerator and they ripe much more slowly. When they look like they need to be used, and I'm not ready, I toss them whole in the freezer. Then, like you, I make bread or muffins. Mine, of course, are usually packed with medical marijuana goodness! Olive Garden? Why are you being so mean? I moved into a new apartment during December. I'm still not completely unpacked---which should be my major whine. I have hand sanitizer and masks in a box around here, but no idea which one. I'll get to it--tomorrow, maybe. My new place has a nice sized kitchen, but it only has a 1/2 sized sink. Seriously, WTF? There is enough room for a double sink, or one full sized one. But a stainless steel plate sits where the rest of the sink should be. The other day I was thinking, "This is the worst thing in my life!" Exaggeration for sure, I suppose. But still, if that's near the worst thing in my life, I should stop complaining.
  3. Dunno where to post this. Maybe the "laugh" thread, though some might not laugh. It's Covid related so, here ya go!: Definitely Not Safe For Work. NSFW!! (But perhaps needed at work.)
  4. June 5th in St Aug. But I assume this is probably going to be canceled, if it isn't already. If not, I'm there.
  5. Looks like Chevy beat you to it:
  6. Wonder if I need to setup an account to listen. I probably would skip that.
  7. Outstanding. I'll have to check it out.
  8. On the ventilator topic, it seems there can be some use for cpap/bipap machines as an emergency, short term non invasive ventilator. It is NOT a substiture for areal ventilator for those in really bad shape. But unless I'm misunderstanding, they can be used as a short-term solution for some patients. Here are few sources for your perusal: https://www.precisionvaccinations.com/continuous-positive-airway-pressure-cpap-machines-enhance-people-respiratory-challenges https://www.bioworld.com/articles/433966-noninvasive-ventilation-options-explored-for-covid-19-as-fda-eases-with-guidance Here is a Reddit thread with some commentary by a respiratory therapist, for what it's worth: Not sure if this is pie in the sky thinking, or something that can really help relieve the pressure on the ventilators for the most serious patients. I'll leave it to Hapless to decide if it belongs in this thread. Have a great night, everyone. [Edit: Dean and anyone else, this is legit, but it was my understanding that HCW were advised against the use of CPAP machines as ventilators because their design means they aerosolize potentially infectious particles from the patients' lungs. Do you (or anyone else) know how this is being mitigated? PM me and I'll add to post]
  9. How could one forget the Chicken Lady? Apparently she (at least 3 years ago) was still struttin' and Talking Proud:
  10. IMO, Diggswill LOVEJosh. I say this because I have yet to hear from a player who had anything bad to say about him. He's a baller!
  11. I should add legal medical marijuana has helped with my drinking reduction and my health in general. Strangest thing, some of the very high THC concentrates (around 90% THC) don't get me very stoned (can't figure out why) but help tremendously with with my back pain and sleeping issues. But smoking pot (around 20% THC) gets me majorily stoned, and still helps with the medical issues. Probably related to the turpines.
  12. I've been taking regular walks. I regularly take a roadie with me on those walks.
  13. Two antique stores at the end of my street are open. Really?
  14. One takeaway from this is the realization of how much better I have it than other people. I think most of us can find that, if we really look. (Obviously others are in very bad shape, no matter how you look at it.) I have recently relocated into a much smaller/older dwelling from the nice big condo. I was cooking/cleaning in my kitchen when my incredibly small sink (1/2 sink, really) frustrated me. I thought, "This is the worst problem in my life!" Maybe a bit of hyperbole, but still, THAT'S the worst thing in my life? I guess I got it pretty good. Not much money, mind you, but so what?
  15. How often to I drink? As often as possible! Sorry, I don't read the entire thread. I assume that line has already been used. Anyway, with exceptions for days when I'm not feeling well, I drink virtually every day. I have 4-6 drinks, most days. And yes, sometimes I have even more. But I don't drink to get drunk anymore. In fact, I rarely drank to get drunk---sometimes it was just a happy byproduct. Much of my drinking comes with meals, and is spaced out through the day. I may splash a little Irish Creme in my coffee in the AM. Maybe a beer, or glass of wine with lunch, if I stop somewhere. Probably a nice bourbon before dinner and a glass of wine with dinner. Maybe a nightcap or two before bedtime. Typically herbal tea, with honey lemon and a splash of whiskey or brandy right before bed. I do virtually no binge drinking anymore. Over the past 3-4 years I've cut my drinking down to 30%-50% in an attempt to lose weight. (For example, when I go out to eat, I drink. So I've tried to limit lunches while out on calls. I still treat myself once in awhile, but nothing like I used to do.) I went from a high of 260 lbs to my current weight of about 193 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I'm still fat and drink too much. I have a standing Dr appointment every two months (I use an opiate pain patch---so it's required). Get my blood tests every year (including liver and kidney enzymes, etc). Also get a kidney/liver ultrasound every few years. Last one in February revealed no change from a few years ago. (Hurray!) So, do I drink too much? I think yes, that goes without saying. But I also think I drink a little differently than many people. Not sure how much that matters, though.
  16. Yes, some people take advantage of the free services meant for the truly needy It's a shame. But, not to turn this into a PPP thread, it's a drop in the bucket compared to corporate/billionaire theft. I guess in their case, it's just "smart management".
  17. This is typically a slower time of the year for me, but this has definately impacted it too. Trying hard to do as much remotely as possible. Fortunately Social Security kicked in last year, so most of my basic living expenses are taken care of with that. Still, on occasion, I will venture into a client's business or home. But I try to make sure there is limited exposure. It's a far from perfect solution, but there you have it. I'm also delivering stuff to a few elderly friends and clients, so I do my best to protect them from me, just in case. I REALLY feel bad for anyone working under the table in bar/restaurant industry. It's a fairly common practice. I'm not sure if they will qualify for any of the government relief programs. BTW, do we know if anyone on the Wall has tested positive? If so, do we need to stay 6 posts away from their posts? No seriously I hope we are all safe and doing our best to stay that way. Hopefully the availability of the Internet and streaming entertainment will reduce the number of suicides and homicides I suspect should rise during these times. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised by a small baby boom, after this, too. I wonder what the net gain/loss of life directly related to the isolation will be?
  18. Agreed. It's not common, at all. But these are uncommon times. I know it isn't what the team's staff prefers to do. For one reason, it's not the way they always do it. But most of what needs to be done, can be done. They just need to get innovative and start thinking a bit differently. Welcome the challenge! Teams that adapt well will be better off for it in the short term, and might even learn something that keeps them ahead of the curve in the long run. Just a thought.
  19. I'm finding it slightly hard to believe an NFL team can't locate qualified medical professionals to check out a player at a mutually agreed upon time and place. I'm sure lots of money may have to be involved, but that is something NFL teams have plenty of. In any event, I haven't heard anyone from a team mention the telemedicine/telehealth idea, let alone dismiss it for that reason. So I remain doubtful.
  20. I think it will be a challenge, and require some innovative thinking. It won't be what they are used to, and that's what scares them. You know people hate change, right? But comments like "players won't have verified measurements" simply astound me. REALLY? Ever hear of telemedicine? Why isn't anyone talking about local doctors doing the physicals, while team doctors participate remotely. Don't they think any doc but them can measure a guy? Scales not calibrated? They can get the X-Rays/ultrasound results/etc without being in the same country as the drafted player. Interviews can be conducted remotely. Perfect? No. Doable? Of course. Well, then just cancel the season now. Because there will be no time anytime before the season when you won't have to worry about a draft pick having Covid-19. The only way to be sure in two months, or three months, or six months will be to TEST them. And that won't be perfect either.
  21. I like that kind of format. I see no real need to postpone the draft as nothing NEEDS to be done in person. Same as the FA signings. Things that CAN be done during this time of social distancing, SHOULD be done, IMO.
  22. I don't hate Barkley and unlike many, think he is a serviceable backup QB who knows his role and is good in the QB room. With that said, I'm onboard for an upgrade, if one is available. Case Keenum would have been a nice upgrade, IMO. Also, I think Allen is established enough with the FO and fanbase, we shouldn't be concerned about the threat of the backup taking his job. I really don't think Josh will let that happen. At least not if he is the franchise QB I believe he will be. Also, a young prospect with growth potential is something every team should have on their roster/PS.
  23. Well, I'm a bit confused. NEITHER of those two links constitutes a rumor that Watson is going to the Pats*. The first link (CBS Sports) just discusses what that trade might be, but (as you note) is CLEARLY labeled as a hypothetical exercise. Plus there is this: So, NOT a rumor. The second link simply says people are freaking out about Watson's tweet. But where's the Pats* aspect? The simply fact is, these are not rumors. They aren't even really speculation (when it comes to the Pats*). They are simply something people are writing about because there is very little actual sporting news to write about. Even so, I have yet to see one actual "rumor" this might happen. The same tweet/article being linked and discussed by various outlets simply doesn't constitute a "swirl" IMO and again, where's the actual "rumor"?
  24. So, this is what I'm talking about, CC. Everybody has a theory. Many people (myself included) can tell you how the outcome of each of the four SB games would/could/should have been different IF---pick your theory, But I'm talking about one play, given the point in time in the game. I think you dig.
